Absolutely loving The SHOW and the sliders this year!



However, the classic pitching is a bit frustrating - I feel like it is almost completely random most of the time. I've experimented with different hold lengths, locations, pitches, you name it (I have read the classic pitching thread more than once) and it seems to just get a random spot for the ball. I would say I hit my spot or close to it only around 10% of the time. I do use the pitch trail because I'm not very good at the feel part and my controller's vibration is broken. So I always know where I am trying to locate the ball.



The crazy part is I am really liking the stats it is producing, but feels like I have very little control over pitching other than pitch selection. I'm getting pitches missing by over a foot consistently... but sometimes those end up as Ks, bombs or balls so the stats work themselves out.



Is there something I'm missing or is it all about ratings and stats and the randomness is what I should like and I should just roll with it since the stat sim is working out pretty well?



I did play one game with meter pitching (same sliders) and I would still miss spots, but much more consistent. Had 10Ks and 0 walks though. Typically with classic I've been around 6-8K and 2-6walks, which I like better.

According to Jerry Weinstein in his book, "Coaching Catchers" he states that, " ML pitchers only hit their target 24% time on fastballs. A miss is when the catcher has to move his glove 6" or more to catch the pitch." Amazing study that Coach Weinstein conducted. Especially considering the plate is 17” wide.

I use this info as part of my coaching with our high school catchers and I think it applies to this discussion as well. Personally, I love the unpredictability of classic pitching this year. I think it’s much more accurate of what we see in baseball today. Just my $.02.

My adjustments will be for the Human side. I am very happy with the CPU offense with my OP settings.

I have played over 55 games now inside franchise between my Yankees and a test franchise. I have a very good sample size on the OP settings. Now I am testing two tweaks to human hitting to increase offense.

HOF this year is so amazing, but very difficult IMO. I am now confident after compiling a good working sample size about the adjustments I am now testing. Once my results are compiled.....I will then either update the OP or it will stay the same.

I will be streaming tonight as usual. Hope to see some of you as we return to NY and also play some Fictional Oakland A's as well.

Bacon's Roster is simply marvelous. A total departure from real world franchise. It is so much fun and nice alternative world.

I am seeing with me personally after over 55 games, low power and contact needs to be better. I really feel it is a product of the smaller PCI on HOF. A simple tweak of contact and power coupled with everything else on this set may be the magic sauce we need. I love the AI on HOF. It is marvelous this year.

Grienke was a wizard with me today...but I still feel like we need a tad better "wood" on the ball.

I've been playing with power at 6 and have been having a blast for a few weeks now. I've kept Contact at 5 though.

I also have CPU power at 6, solid hits 4, USER Control 4.

I prefer both sides with power at 6. I feel like CPU gets too many hits with SH at 5. And I'm too accurate with User Control at 5.

For me pitcher control on 5 on HOF is perfect. I got lit up by the D-Backs in both games (lost them both...sigh).

CPU offense is on point for me.

Human offense after not jumping to fast conclusions like too many do in the general forum....is weaker at default for "me". So I am testing those adjustments. I have a great feeling we found the secret sauce.

Awesome Info. I wonder what the hit % is for other pitches, it must be even lower, right.?

I think with the stats I'm getting and this little report, I'm going to ride out the classic pitching as confirmed it is probably the most realistic as well. Still going to test the release point idea rather than just guessing hold time.

I agree on jumping too soon. I have been around default for all settings... trying to find that little bit of extra offense. U feel like the answer will be found with tc and your adjustments.... depending on players ability and style of play.... please have my daughter's college pin on ceremony in a couple hours but I'll be checking it out when I get home tonight

Dumb question guys. When there's an update to the sliders or I make any changes period, do I need to update the 2nd profile I'm using for 30 team control or just my main profile?

Just change the sliders. Your profile has nothing to do with the sliders.
