I’m not talking smack because I respect his work and I’m sure it took forever. I just felt like I was cheating with Cleveland. Jose and Lindor both were 99’s. Power in the 90’s and if I remember right both were 99 speed.

Oh I know. I didn’t mean to either if it sounded that way. I respect all that work he puts into it. I’m using his rosters and sliders on one of my franchises and it is doing good so far.

I like the idea that they want to build it for multiple seasons of franchise. They claim that the base rosters become unplayable after a couple of years.
Just on the speed. There’s quite a few people on this thread happily using the Bacon/Josh combination. Bacon generally has speed rated way higher than the standard SDS ratings as well. So there shouldn’t be an issue in that regard.

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 20 Sliders

OK...so this is kind of my final word on this.

The way this slider setup is designed is to try allow the ratings of the players in a roster to shine.

If the distribution of a given rating in a roster is shoved into a narrower range...from SDS' 0-100 to say 50-100, then it stands to reason that we would see less differentiation between players. This is neither a good thing nor a bad thing. But, it would change the 'feel'....

So, any roster, whether it be made by SDS or another person, will get shoved into the gameplay engine. The engine, modified slightly by these sliders, will provide you with the output.

So, ANY roster made by ANY person will 'work' with these sliders. But what I think people are asking is for me to make a SUBJECTIVE opinion of whether or not one roster vs another provides a closer approximation to real life when the ratings are shoved into the gameplay engine modified by these sliders. Sorry, I'm not going to do that....because, I don't do that. I play the roster I selected and make personnel and in-game decisions based on it....not because of real life preconceptions. So..does Lindor play more like himself on one roster vs another? I don't know; I don't care to be honest....he's just a set of ratings to me.

The ONLY thing I care about is if the roster will maintain a stable franchise environment that a) keeps teams varied throughout the course of a franchise and b) will not be exploitable by the user.

These are the rosters I have TESTED that I think maintain that environment reasonably well:
          • The SDS base roster
          • Bacon's Fictional Roster
          • Ridin's roster through version 1.5

I’m brand new to the franchise, and I’ve gotta say these are, by far, the absolute best set of sliders I’ve experienced. Provides a fantastic, dynamic game environment with vast game types and outcomes, good seeing eye and bloop hits, appropriate feel l, and so on. Absolutely fantastic. Thank you.

It's a REALLY nice balance here. I've had games with multiple injuries (short term), I've lost guys for 1-2 months...I've seen the CPU lose guys. I really like what this has done for us.

This is also the most balanced simulation value. You can just lock this in and go.
Just had a Spring Training injury. Tanaka out 6 months with a Torn Rotator Cuff. 6 looks spot on to me if it can replicate the Yankees woes in real life.

Been going back and forth between these and armors sliders and both are amazing sets. With this set I see more of a realistic feel to pitching with walks and strikeouts. On Hof you just can’t get the cpu to miss at a decent rate and my strikeout numbers are always low.

Go with what feels 'best' to you!

If you're really in that middle ground, try this set on All Star+. lhsballa has been using the set on AS+ recently and after dominating with an elite pitching staff for nearly 60 games, he's coming way down to Earth. It just adds a little "something extra" without going quite to the HOF extremes. His experiences are THE reason I added AS+ to the OP setup as an option. It's definitely viable.

I just want to add to the discussion of AS+. It is VERY subtle. I don't want you guys to think if you bump to AS+ that suddenly its a hit fest by the AI or something. If someone watched my streams, I don't think they could identify the difference between AS and AS+.

As Josh alluded to, I started off the first 50 games WHITE HOT pitching. During those 50 games I have exclusively used this set, and inputted the various changes that have been made a long the way. I even tried AS+ pitching on previous versions, without much success.

It wasn't until the addition of SH 4, that I saw a real change to the AI hitting.

Over the last 20 games it has been nothing but BLISS. Simply the best sports simulation I've played in all my years as a gamer.

I would urge everyone to start on AS and give it 10 games, minimum. Try to evaluate more on FEEL, than results.

You have to set the difficulties to Dynamic. As you have success moving up from All Star (assuming your base dynamic difficulty begins there), it will go from All Star to All Star + (later on, it would go up to HOF). Once you hit All Star + for both hitting/pitching, go to the sliders and turn the Dynamic Difficulty Sensitivity slider all the way down to 0 (which will lock it in).

I started on your all star set all default. Found it was way too easy and was hitting a ton of long balls.

I moved armors set on HOF and after a while it was just to hard for my skill level. It did play really well. I just was struggling to have fun.
So I revisited your set and saw you made some tweaks. After about 20+ games on your revised set. I will say its playing spot on. Its not too easy or too difficult. The adjustments have toned down the HRs and the game has the right amount of challenge.

Great job man. I know your more accomplished on madden sliders but you have nailed mlb. I have more of a feel for madden so i stay in my lane. Just wanted to say kudos and great job on not being afraid to move from default when needed. All star is really great it just needed some tweaks.

Much appreciated Tyler. We both know what a nightmare Madden is to manipulate; which is why I just basically leave it alone. This game, while still tricky to deal with at times (one can't take the slider definitions too literally - you still HAVE to look at CPU behaviors as you adjust things), I'm not nearly as hesitant to get creative and work with it. I'm just super-happy we found a terrific balance here with a minimum of adjustments.

I'm not a huge stat guy and won't do this all the time, but are a few stats from my Braves franchise after the month of April (Bacon's roster):

                              Record - 16-17

                              Batting Average - .271 (5th)
                              Runs - 149 (9th)
                              Hits - 319 (1st)
                              Doubles - 55 (8th)
                              Triples - 5 (15th)
                              HRs - 51 (2nd)
                              RBIs - 149 (9th)
                              SB - 5 (30th)
                              BB - 94 (27th)
                              K - 276 (23rd)
                              SLG - .457 (4th)
                              OBP - .328 (19th)

                              ERA - 3.87 (11th)
                              Hits Allowed - 259 (9th)
                              Runs Allowed - 133 (14th)
                              HR Allowed - 37 (17th)
                              BB allowed - 103 (9th)
                              Ks - 275 (5th)

We're a decidedly offensively-oriented squad that has gone through a transformation due to injuries and a rather big trade, acquiring stud CF Paul Keys for our stud SP Miguel Cabrera.

Bear in mind, these games consist of a hodge podge of settings; including the last 14 games with the current OP. All things said....this is one of the best balances I have seen from this game...very pleased.

                                On to May!!

I cannot steal in this game for the life of me. Unless it’s an burner with very high steal ratings I just can’t. I’m scared to adjust though because I remember last year it was figured out that the stealing sliders really messed up offensive production somehow. I believe that was last about in your 2019 thread if I remember right.
