Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 21 Sliders
My hunch is you'll be able to pop the 21 set into 22 and get a tremendous game.
I recall from 20 --> 21 it was VERY minor changes to the set.
It's a reason I've used and loved this set for the last 3 season. Josh understands this game is the best OOTB experience in sports gaming, and his changes are only designed to enhance the already amazing base- never force an outcome.Twitch: Goblue81188Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 21 Sliders
Hey Josh! I know you said you weren’t planning on releasing a slider set this year. I got my Dynamic difficulty to AS+ which is where i believe my skill set lies.
Was just wondering if you’ve made any adjustments at all this year or are riding a full default AS+. Have you changed anything like manager hook or steal ability or injuries?
Just figured I’d see what settings you’re riding with, even if you aren’t officially releasing a slider set with a thread attached to it.
Thanks!!!

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 21 Sliders
Really miss Josh’s slider approach, especially this cycle as this game is really good OOTB. It blows my mind how literally 1 day after release we already had like 5 slider sets, some by pretty highly acclaimed slider makers I might add. Now only two weeks after release there’s a good 15 slider sets, atleast.
I just can’t rap my head around how any one could actually have a legit set at this point. How someone could have the time, even over two weeks, to play at least 20 games on straight default, then another 20 for every slider change they make. Everyone on here preaches sample size and then comes out with a new version of their sliders every 48 hours [emoji23], if not less.
Could you imagine being a scientist and doing an experiment without a freakin control group! That is exactly what everyone on here is doing. I haven’t seen many “slider makers” say anything along the lines of, I’ve played “x” amount of games on default and I think these things should be changed and I’ll play the same exact “x” number of games again to get a true comparison. Not to mention so many times people are adding more than one change at a time. Again a scientist would never ever do this because you can’t definitively say what caused the new outcome when you introduce more than one change at a time.Comment

Anyway. I agree with you Josh. Default is the way to go this year.

No I’m comparing slider making to science, because that’s what it is, it’s a science. It’s the literal definition of science.

Okaaay. For people like Armor and Josh who have been doing sliders for years, know exactly how each one of them works. Its not rocket appliances (science)as you make it out to be lol.

Dude.....this is not rocket science. This is video gaming.
I have been playing sports games for 25 plus years and adjusting sliders since their inception.
The Show is so easy to tune out of the box like your said yourself......after 25-30 games I get an excellent grasp of where “I” want the game to be at. It is really easy for me to see how the game “feels” at this point.
Whether that is what your looking for is not my concern.
My only concern is where I want the game to be for me......and I share it. What all of you do is up to you.
I don't claim to be a scientist or whatever you want to call it.......I simply love playing The Show and have a good knack for coming up with settings that work for me.....and hopefully from sharing my passion some others can enjoy the game too.
My adjustments are so small....and barely move from default. Its not some crazy concept and I don’t need 162 games to know what the game is doing at this point in my life.
It’s freaking baseball. And having played and coached this sport for most of my entire life......I know exactly what I want to see, feel and experience and a knob turn here and there with The Show is all it needs. Now Playing on PS5:
CFB 26 Hurricanes/Fresno State Year 2
MLB The Show 25 - 2025 Yankees Year 1
MLB The Show 25 1985 Yankees Year 1

Funny how defensive some people get. I wasn’t pointing any out in particular but I guess when you know you know. [emoji23] Also love how because you’ve played the game in past and have made sliders, that means this years sliders are working exactly the same as every other year. Seems like a pretty lazy approach. Also no one ever said anything about rocket science, so don’t put words in my mouth. The word “science” does not mean hard or complicated. It just means study the affect that two things have on each other, which is exactly what everyone in here is doing.Last edited by tc020791; 04-17-2022, 10:00 AM.Comment

It’s not lazy. It’s a baseball game. It’s not anything crazy. It’s pretty straight forward. If power is too high you lower it. If you’re not getting enough contact you raise contact. It’s pretty simple and pretty consistent cycle to cycle
You should try to help other than just complain about the hours of testing people have shared in attempt to make other people’s gaming experience better.

That’s all fine and dandy. The issue is when people start changing multiple things at once and not giving any time for an actual sample size and then you don’t know what actually is causing the change. You also don’t know if maybe it’s an outlier or what if you’re not collecting enough data.Comment
