I just tried raising contact to 50 (0 power), but then I got 7 hits through three innings so I lowered it back down to 20.

Re: New Info on power and contact sliders
jim, i'm going back to classic hitting, i dunno just to old for this new fangled stuff, swing stick feels ok but... anyways with classic i'm trying out 65-70 contact and around 20 for power and see how that goes as i don't use the L stick, i see more contact but like you i'm not getting an extraordinary amount of hits just more balls in play, i'll try and keep track of who i'm batting against and adjust the contact thing till i'm getting struck out what i feel is the right amount depending on who i'm hitting against.Comment

Re: New Info on power and contact sliders
It seems to me that you can make more contact with pitches that look out of the zone when you rotate the swing stick towards the area the pitch is at.
Edit: Might as well mention that I play on Legend difficulty, using the Swing Stick and tweak my sliders from there. I mostly use the D'backs and am happy with the number of hits I get, which is usually around 9 a game. The CPU strikes out at most 8 times a game with an ace on the mound.
Player Options:
Batting Contact - 30
Batting Power - 5
Batting Influence -30
Powe Swing - 5
Step Influence - 90
CPU Sliders:
AI Pitch:
Throw Strike Overall - 30
Throw Strike Ahead - 45
Throw Strike Behind - 70
AI Batting:
Skill - 65
Contact - 45
Power - 40 (45)
Power - 40
AI General:
Infield Speed - 15
Outfield Speed - 50
Diveback - 65 (70)Last edited by EXboxur; 03-13-2007, 12:14 AM.........................Operation Sports Champions League 2 Champion........................Comment

You know you're getting old when you go to the doctor like I did today and the first thing out of his mouth was, "well, as you get older........."
That's the way I am with the swing stick. I'll just keep tweaking early in my season until it feels comfortable. Right now I'm playing as SD, PT, WA and the LAA. I've played all their games and just had a real good one, 11 inning 4-3 to FLA.

Re: New Info on power and contact sliders
i get a average of 10 hits per game with the cubs, i imagine that this is pretty realistic if you think that the average in mlb is 9, problaby the cubs with soriano boosting our lineup will raise the cubs average to 10 like i am having in my franchise.
btw, just played an exibiton game, i wanted to pitch with pedro, red sox @ mets, schilling against pedro, one of the best games i ever had in this game, great pitching duel!
red sox 1 5 1
mets 3 4 0
W-p.martinez 8.0inn 1er 3h 2bb 11k
L-c.schilling 6.2inn 1er 2h 3bb 9k
S- saito 1.0inn 0er 2h 0bb 1k
saito almost blow the save...i was sweating here man...but he got lowe to pop out for the last out!
jim i would suggest steting pitching dificult to 100 too if youre using 100 contact, cause that way u really feel the diference between batting against and ace like smoltz and a regular pitcher like Kyle Davies. i dont mean only stats wise(becasue any ace can have a bad day sometime), but all around feeling..u feel that smoltz is trying to dominate u and get the K , while Kyle Davies is just trying to get u out no matter how...Last edited by brunnoce; 03-13-2007, 01:28 AM.---------------

Re: New Info on power and contact sliders
I wish someone could come up with some good sliders that take into account contact and pitches thrown. After several games with the contact slider up I'm convinced that it doesn't result in more hits. I'm only playing with contact at 50 but it still doesn't mean more hits. I've had some very realistic games as far as hits, SO's, and power numbers this way, my problem is the pitch counts are way down now. I'm connecting on pitches out of the zone and the cpu rarely throws a ball. Pitchers are not tiring as quickly etc.. I have an idea of how I would like this game to play and it seems possible, but I'm not sure how I can get it that way. I wish someone who is a slider guru could give their input here. It's pretty much seems like all the sliders i've been playing with are out the window at this point though. I honestly like how this game plays on default allstar difficulty with a few slider tweaks to increase so's and contact, decrease human power, and tone down the fielding a bit for both sides, but I need to figure out a way to get the pitch count up.Last edited by Walker8; 03-13-2007, 02:07 AM.Comment

), but I really don't think there is a way to increase fouls at this point.
Also, I like how this game plays on default Legend with a few tweaks here and there. I posted my slider tweaks. They've been working great for me.
My last game:
---------------R---H---E
D'backs (me)-- 4---12--0
Nats --------- 0---4---0
-------------------------
D'Backs:
(W) R. Johnson - 7 IP, 4 K's
C. Snyder - 1 HR (3 RBI) 9th inning
-------------------------
Nats:
(L) S. Hill - 6 1/3 IP, 2K's, 1.42 ERA, 3 BB
-------------------------
Batting
D'backs
2B: Stephen Drew 1
----Carlos Quentin 1
----Chris Young 1
-------------------------
I only struck out 5 times, and the Nats struckout 6.........................Operation Sports Champions League 2 Champion........................Comment

Re: New Info on power and contact sliders
Whatever works for people, go for it. One of the first things I do with any new baseball game is I test the settings for hitting. I also played with contact at 100, and I was basically hitting every single pitch. I personally like to swing and miss a lot, so I settled for contact around 30, although somewhere around 40 seemed about right (I like a super challenge, rather than just challenging). Now this was with classic, so it could be the swing stick is programmed differently.Comment

Re: New Info on power and contact sliders
well, the setting of 75 contact is not exactly what is important as everyone has different modes of play and diffculty.
the important part was to see what the slider actually did rather than a stab in the dark guess.
we can all adjust our own sliders to fit us best, but kids always remember Knowing is half the battle. LOLComment

Re: New Info on power and contact sliders
With classic hitting and contact at 90 and Power at 5, I had 3 homeruns with the Astros against the Pads. Maddox pitched for them and I got 22 hits and took him out in the 5th. I want to play some more, but I liked the settings so far. I won 9 to 6. I struck the cpu out four times in the game with Jennings picking up 3 and Lidge getting 1. I struck out once and all my postition players recorded a hit. I still like it because I kind of felt like if Maddux isn't on that is what would happen to him anyway. His changeup was still nasty though.
I liked not striking out 14 times in a game. I might turn down the contact to 75. I had some great hit variety and Ensberg's second homerun was without the left stick. They call me "The Manual"Comment

Re: New Info on power and contact sliders
now if it feels rightr and you k about the right amount of times turn up the pithc speed and step influence sliders.... btw even when using button swing there is a step in the swing and that step is still influenced byt the influence slider. think of it as a "timing" slider and more means you need better timing or you miss or foul off the pitch more. They call me "The Manual"Comment

It's good to see the brains @ work. With the addition of some new sliders, I'm having some trouble coming-up with something that the community can enjoy. I have come to a conclusion on the Pitcher Difficulty slider. The Player Option Pitcher Difficulty slider needs to be no lower than 80 & AI Pitcher Difficulty slider needs to be no higher than 25. (Have mine @ 80 "User"/25 "AI")
This will help dominate Pitcher's ala(Santana, Carpenter, Webb) pitch a little more to their tendencies & make the user work for his/her hits.
As for the Contact/Power theory. I'm still working on this, as it seems to have changed also. Right now I'm using Swing Stick & have it set @
USER (Contact:35 Power:20) AI (Skill:85 Contact:55 Power:40) but for some reason I believe the AI Pitcher Difficulty Sliders (NEW ADDITION) some how play a big part in all thisLast edited by bigfnjoe96; 03-13-2007, 10:05 AM.Comment
