I got my first one last night, because I've been signing out of my profile to improve the frame rate. But what's strange is that now that I'm playing franchise, the frame rate isn't as bad...I have no explanation for it, so I stay logged in now.

Re: BFJ All-Star " Custom Total Control" Sliders
Yeah... I have noticed the same thing in franchise that there really is no frame rate problem at all. If any, it is barely noticable.
Sorry, I know I have asked this before, but I can't seem to figure out what I am doing wrong with pitching... My pitcher seems to be worn down after 40 pitches or so... Does using the full effectives have an effect on stamina? Or is just not throwing enough strikes..Comment

Yes when you bring that circle out to between the white lines every time you are using more stamina. Remember that first motion is how much power you put behind the pitch, and the second motion is accuracy. (trying to get that circle to come back in the middle JUST before it dissapears...basically a very little circle directly in the middle for a perfect pitch)
Also the GESTURE itself is both motions matching the pitch itself.
I can usually get 99's on fastballs, sliders, and changeups. And 90+ on curves, splitters, and knuckleballs.Comment

Re: BFJ All-Star " Custom Total Control" Sliders
Good looking set of sliders Joe, I have been working on a set and glancing over yours it appears somewhat similar in some areas. Are you happy with the pitcher difficulty? When I had it up around 50 on mine, it seemed like there was a huge difference in hitting pitchers the game considered good versus not and I'm not sure this is something that should be that artificial. I would absolutely clobber anyone the game didn't consider "good" and then get good games against good pitchers. It was driving me crazy, and I guess it was possible it was just me, but that seemed to be a major issue I was having when I had that up around 50 or higher.
I've been trying to go with a much lower pitcher difficulty and making the human hitting sliders lower (ai contact and power, I think skill should be 100 or close to it) to accommodate this idea. I've had mixed results so far and it's taking a lot of tuning around so I'm not sure if it will work well or not yet.
In my experience so far, I don't seem to notice a difference if I make a small change in one area that alters a slider from custom pro to allstar or vice versa. I think you may be worrying yourself unnecessarily here. I'm thinking that it just is there so you know what level the game considers you are playing at for the purpose of achievements and the like. It's possible I'm wrong but I don't think I am, it would be nice if we could get some clarification from 2k on this though.
On a side note, have you tried using tight zoom with max zoom level for the hitting. It really seems to make judging balls and strikes easier for me and I also find it "feels" much more like I'm actually batting.
If you feel your raking mediocre pitching adjust the Human Batting Sliders & not any of the AI Pitching Sliders. As for going bonkers over the difference between Custom-L/A/P I'm gonna shoot a PM to someone over @ the 2k Boards so I can get some clarification. I'm hoping the PM Box isn't flooded with spam about how 2K needs to give-up the license.
Not sure if the above had anything to do with it but I just got destroyed by the Blue Jays. I don't know if these sliders are going to be for me, seems to be way too much offense especially on the CPU's side.
I did Halladay vs Pettitte, Andy gave up six homers in five innings. Everything the CPU hit was a pissrod, no lightly hit balls. Greg Zaun was hitting low-and-away curveballs on the black to the warning track the other way.
I dunno if it's the CPU Skill being set at 100 or what, but the CPU was pretty much on every single pitch unless I threw a curveball that fooled them. Any slider, cutter, 4-seam, etc they pounded.
The final score was 17-11.
Also is anyone else feeling the Pitcher Fatigue needs some tweaking?Last edited by bigfnjoe96; 03-10-2008, 09:47 AM.Comment

Re: BFJ All-Star " Custom Total Control" Sliders
I have no idea why the skill slider is even in the game. Contact and power should be the only ones. "Increase the quality of your hits". Isn't that what power should do? Make you hit the ball harder?
Right now I have everything in place except my own batting sliders. I either hit HRs or singles. I'm still getting those weak grounders. It's tough to hit the gaps. The hits I get inside the first and third base bags slow down half way down their respective lines.
Here are my setting:
Contact:55
Power:85
Skill:100
BFJ, I have been working with the fatigue slider because at my original settings CPU pitchers were being pulled around the 75 pitch mark even if they were throwing a 2 hit shutout in the 6th. I think somewhere in the 55-60 range may work.Last edited by therizing02; 03-10-2008, 11:07 AM.Comment

Re: BFJ All-Star " Custom Total Control" Sliders
Believe it or not, I have the AI Skill setting at 5 and I'm getting great results and yes, the CPU still hits scorching line drives, gap shots, hard grounders, and other hit types. I have CPU contact at 50 and Power at 40.

I will test this later on tonight & see what happens
As for the Fatigue Slider I too was seeing some early hooks from the CPU especially when I'm patient & work the count. I think 55 seems about right.
Anyone else feels the same way about the Pitcher Fatigue Slider?Comment

Re: BFJ All-Star " Custom Total Control" Sliders
I got the AI skill slider down to around 30 I believe. And yeah I don't see a difference. I really believe the skill slider increases the ability to "get a hit".
I know that sounds crazy, but I think it's true. Power, is power. We know what it does. Contact, is simply making contact, but not always solid contact.
Skill is the difference between hitting at somebody and hitting it where they aint. That's my early impression anyway.PSN: JISTIC_OS

Re: BFJ All-Star " Custom Total Control" Sliders
I have noticed the same thing with the fatigue...but if you drop it down, it also drops the level down to Custom P... has anyone figured out if that matters or not?
I am going to drop the AI Skill and see what happens as well... So far, they seem to work the count pretty well and I have it at 100.Comment

Re: BFJ All-Star " Custom Total Control" Sliders
The one thing that I do that's probably different from most is pitch at or very close to every single catcher suggestion based off of IE. I've never done that in a baseball video game and I am getting GREAT results as far as varying game types, pitch counts, and overall gameplay. There are situations where he makes a call and I'm thinking no way will I throw a fastball down the middle to ARod on a full count. Struck him out lookingGive it a try.

I never thought that it did. If a setting is at 50 what's the difference if it's 50 at PRO or AS?Comment
