My point is, there's no way a major league baseball player all of a sudden goes from being a very good player to one of the all time greats at the age of 34, and there's 100 or so years of baseball history to back me up.

Originally posted by USF11Then hes on steriods or HGH. A persons physical peek happens mid-late 20's. The all-time NFL combine record is 45 and thats with lots of money at stake. Thats why it was so obvious to spot the steriod users in baseball, because they where having the best years of their careers past 35."It's A Business Doing Pleasure With You." - LeGrandComment

I would bet my car, my house, my dog that no one near the age of fifty that is completely clean of steriods could bp 225 50 times.Last edited by USF11; 03-08-2006, 04:16 PM."Good music transcends all physical limits, it's more then something you hear, it's something that you feel, when the author, experience, and passion is real" - Murs (And this is for)Comment

Originally posted by camulosWhat's your point here? We know Barry was on steroids, we know they improved his performance. I don't understand what you're trying to get across by saying you know a guy who can bench press 225."It's A Business Doing Pleasure With You." - LeGrandComment

Originally posted by USF11Yes, a ton. I been around weight rooms my whole life. I can spot a user in about 2 seconds. 50 reps of 225 is down right impossible for even the worlds strongest people. The only people that could approach the number are on the juice.

Originally posted by DiademMy point is that your body doesn't have to break down with age especially at the young age of 34. You can get stronger. Barry plays baseball a mostly non contact sport where you spend probably 85% of the time standing around or sittng in the dugout. If you take care of yourself in baseball you can play at a decent level well into your 40's.Comment

Originally posted by USF11Thats the stupidest thing I have ever heard. How old are you 12? Strength training is about recovery time. Around the age of 25 you start producing less and less testerone which dramatically effects your recovery time. Originally posted by DiademIt's not that hard to put on 15-20 lbs. If you do it properly you can gain 1-2lbs. in a week. 100 days is plenty of time to gain 15-20lbs.
100 days is 14.2 weeks. So for Barry to be putting on that weight he would have be putting on better than a pound per week. While that is physically possible it not something which can be done while only adding a negligable amount of fat. It's also not easy; if it were you would see 20 year old hockey or football players come back from the offseason with 25 pounds more of muscle. And let's not forget Barry's age at the time..."Darth Vader doesn't cry, Peter."
