I have to admit, the Yankees and ARod deserve each other.

You mean because the greatest franchise in the history of baseball deserves the best player in baseball?

      Thanks!

Yeah I read that Buffett story. It sounds to me like Boras may lose his biggest client.

All I have to say in regards to that is

This is pretty interesting. Question for NYY fans. Does Arod going "behind" Boras' back sort of redeem him in a way. Especially since its looking more and more like he had nothing to do with the WS opt out timing issue?

Why would A-rod fire Boras? Scotty just got A-rod the biggest contract ever, again!

Not only that, but this time Alex looks like the nice guy and Boras looks like a jerk. So that takes all that extra pressure off A-rod. Instead of writing pieces about A-rod being a greedy jerk, they'll write pieces about how Boras is some slimey snake of an agent, who should be thrown out of the MLB.

arod doesn't need boras anymore, as he's set with a 10 year contract.

It's funny though that with Arod, Warren Buffett , Goldman Sachs, and the Yankees, that tops the income of a lot of countries.

One of those was a Detroit writer so I'm not surprised by his vote. The other was an Oakland writer. Not sure about that one.

Actually, I think the Oakland paper is based in Pontiac, Michigan IIRC.

You may not be far off.

I haven't seen the article that you or YankeePride are referring to, but the guy could be a beat writer for the Oakland County paper known as The Oakland Press.

                          Re: A-Rod to Opt Out

Tom Gage, who voted for Maggs, wrote a great article today about why he voted Maggs over A-Rod. While no one will question A-Rod's numbers... a few factors swayed Gage to Maggs. As he points out... Magglio hit 49 points higher on the season and nearly 100 points higher with runners in scoring position. He feels that that alone shows that he was more valuable to his team.

                          ARod/Maggs Comparisons

                          BA: .314/.363
                          OPB: .422/.434
                          BA with RISP: .333/.429
                          Hits: 183/216
                          2B: 31/54
                          HR: 54/28
                          RBI: 156/139
                          Runs: 143/117
                          SO: 120/79
                          Runs Created per Game: 10.4/10.0

Bottomline here is that there is no doubt that ARod deserved the MVP... but to argue that Maggs 2 first place votes were, essentially, no different than a College Football poll with local writers voting that way out of responsibility... that's BS. Maggs had an MVP season.

You can't look just at BA though. Arod had a 1.138 OPS with RISP to Mags 1.137. Looking at BA alone is a silly justification from a writer who just wants his guy to give Ordonez his due. No doubt Mags had an MVP quality season, but I just don't understand how anyone could vote for him over ARod. Do you have a link the article? I'd be curious to read what else he had to say.
