Re: A-Rod to Opt Out
However, looking at this realistically the Yanks won this. Boras made A-Rod look bad and I hope the old saying "once bitten, twice shy" will apply to him in the future. (I doubt it but you never know)
Anyways i'm glad A-Rod didn't get the 300 Mil contract he was looking for. I really think it would've set a bad precedent in a baseball economic world where the gulf between the haves and have nots may not be as huge but it's still very much there.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: A-Rod to Opt Out
I usually don't take anything the Daily News writes seriously but they had a pretty good article that I like to think is close to accurate regarding Boras and Rodriguez.
According to people who have observed the relationship over the years, Rodriguez has always been grateful for the role Boras played in his life, from setting him up with personal trainers and mental coaches to making him wealthy beyond his dreams with that famous $252million contract. However, they say it evolved into something of a love-hate relationship, with A-Rod growing to resent Boras' control at times, quarreling with him on certain matters but always giving in to him.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: A-Rod to Opt Out
An interesting tidbit to add, ARod was named baseball's most clutch player by Pepsi.
WTF are they smoking? I mean, yeah, he had an insane regular season and being a NY'er, I love that he's coming back, but most clutch? Did Pepsi watch the Miss America Contest during the ALDS or something for the past 4 years?Comment

Re: A-Rod to Opt Out
Well with or without him I think the Yanks will do fine..but with him resigning how can you not respect the power he possesses. If the Yanks had a chance of getting Cabrera for a lot less than they are asking for I would be happy as well. But it would be hard to find a guy to replace Arod's offensive threat.PSN: ckarlic

I think Arod is a special player, and if I was a Yankee fan I'd be ecstatic at the chance to have him on my team. Kudos to him for approaching the Yankees to try to work this out, and hopefully this helps to put a huge stain on Boras and his evil ways :wink:Comment

Thats cool. Not trying to call you out, but you just seemed to have a different tone towards Arod earlier in this thread.

Re: A-Rod to Opt Out
I know what you mean, but i'm sure he will be as relavent as ever. The players he represents will always be coveted by teams that want to spend the cash. Thats the main reason I hate to hear people/fans complaining about "greedy players." It takes two to tango.Comment
