Re: Hall Of Fame: Yes Or No?
As for Munson he gets my vote. He has the 4th Highest WAR per game for catchers. He beats out Bill Dickey, Roy Campanella, Gary Carter and Yogi Berra who are all in the Hall.

Re: Hall Of Fame: Yes Or No?
Scott Rolen was a privilege to watch. He hit pretty damn well in his year and a half as a Blue Jay, and his glove was one of the best I've ever seen. A Rolen/Scutaro/Hill/Overbay infield is still the best defensive IF I've seen to date (in person obviously). When he did request a trade, he did so quietly and wasn't a distraction. He also brought back the key to the Rasmus deal (Zack Stewart), a decent prospect (Josh Roenicke, who obviously busted), and our current beast of a 1B/DH Edwin Encarnacion.
70 fWAR, 155 (!) fielding runs, 122 wRC+, .368 wOBA. Absolute lock for me.
Who's hat do you guys think he will/would go in wearing? IIRC him and LaRussa had a falling out so I don't think he would go in as a Cardinal. Obviously he wasn't with the Reds very long and wasn't at his peak with them, same with the Jays. I would bet Phillies."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Absolutely on Rolen, he was a better hitter then Brooks, and almost equal with the glove. Rolen should be a lock. You hear that you BBWA jackasses.Comment

Not liking your post for the Rolen argument (I'm neutral on him), but because you're telling BBWAA they can go **** *** in *** **** in their *** *** ****** *** all day. That I can dig.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: Hall Of Fame: Yes Or No?
Oh, I wouldn't go quite that far. Tex has always been an excellent defensive first baseman and has been a bit better offensively than Dunn. They get on base exactly the same amount (.368 for both of them, cool!), but Tex strikes out less and has more gap power while walking a good amount. Tex usually wOBA's much better than Dunn, as well.
He's certainly not "just as big a no" to me, but he's a still a no. Dunn is just absolutely nowhere near close lol.Teixeira: 40.8 WAR, .381 wOBA, 131 wRC+, 55.6 FLD.
Dunn: 23.7 WAR, .371 wOBA, 124 wRC+, -127.8 FLD.
Teixeira has been nearly twice as valuable overall in around 1500 less PA than Dunn. Dunn is also a historically terrible fielder, while Teixeira has been one of the best gloves at first base for a decade.
I'm not saying that Teixeira is a sure fire Hall of Famer, but his case is much more compelling than Dunn's.Comment

Re: Hall Of Fame: Yes Or No?
May not have been clear but I didn't mean for them to be compared... in fact putting either up for comparison at all is my problem. Neither one of the guys even belong in this thread. It's like just throwing names out. Brady Anderson? Michael Young? George Costanza? Like I said, maybe someone has a case that would change my opinion on Teix but I find it hard to see why he would even be mentioned... much like Dunn.
Similar thing with Tex (341 HRs and a 130 OPS+, near .900 career OPS), an all-star level player for a decade is worth at least broaching the idea of the HoF, in my opinion.
