How much do the Yankees still owe A-Rod after this suspension?

I hope it's still alot. I love that he didn't get suspended for life so the Yankees still owe him, I would assume, a buttload of money.

It's the constant posturing from Selig that is annoying, and makes him look like a joke. Lifetime ban was never a real option, neither was not allowing A-Rod to play during an appeal. But for weeks we heard these threats. And there have been a number of times in the past where we found out about a guy who was taking PED's before the penalties were put in place, and we hear "Bud Selig is considering a punishment against .... for his use of PED's," and then it never happens.

Continue to improve testing, sure. Tougher penalties, I'd be in favor of that too, at least for first time offenders. But this constant PR stuff just so he look like he's tough on steroids is a joke. And it's not fooling anybody.

Bud Selig has always been a joke...seriously, the guy became commissioner through a coup with his cronies. While a lot of good things have happened on his watch, his leadership has been atrocious, especially his handling of PED's period.

Assuming the Yankees don't owe A-Rod anything from now until the beginning of the 2015 season:

              $61M in salary from 2015-2017
              $30M bonus ($6M each) for hitting HR #660, #714, #755, #762, #763 (currently sitting on 647)
$3M deferred signing bonus (payable Jan. 15, 2014)

Most likely A-Rod will hit more than 660 HR. 714 is unlikely. 755/762/763 not happening.

So even if A-Rod accepted his 211 game suspension right now, the Yankees are still on the hook for seventy million dollars. LOL.

This is the worst interview ever. He's not even answering the questions. He just keeps saying "There's a time and place for that," and "I'm grateful to wear this uniform again."

His opening was okay, though. He seemed genuinely blessed to have this opportunity to play again. I would too, guilty or not. I thought he was going to shed a tear. I don't feel sorry for the guy regarding anything involving money, suspensions, etc... but I know the passion of the sport, and I would feel disheartened if I couldn't play it on that professional level again, whether or not it was my fault.

That said, I'm hoping tonight he goes 0-for-4 with 3 K's and a GIDP in a one-run loss.

Reminded me of McGwire and his "not going to talk about the past" shtick.

A-Rod will obviously be booed like a scumbag in every other ballpark...but what will the reaction be when they go home? Will Yankee fans still support this serpent?

Meh, 7.45 ERA in AAA. I think the Phillies made the right call.

Will probably be mixed at first. And after that it all depends on whether he hits or not.

This game is probably going to be the highlight of the Sox season.

                            I has a sad.

I think it will be 70/30 boos at first and the rest depends on his performance. Even when things were going good I always got the impression Yankees fans only tolerated A-Rod rather than support him fully as a Yankee.

i could be totally wrong though as you're closer to the situation.
