I originally thought a lifetime ban was too much until I read about his lying and efforts to sabotage MLB's investigation.

He is a clown and he needs to never step foot on an MLB field again.

It's still too much but only bc of all the moving parts. We all know Arod is pretty much done anyway. You knock him out of the game for another full season or two and he'll either retire or be the traveling gypsy that Giambi currently is, but with a much worse rep following him around. Bud plays nice and the union won't stand in the way, and it'll be easier to raise the stakes against everyone else on this list and going forward.

Meanwhile even banning him for life wouldn't be taking the hard stand on steroids bc they'd have to go outside of the drug policy to have any chance of making it stick. It'd stink of making up rules to punish harder than what is currently in place. Other players wouldn't want to back a system that has the power to do that, no matter how they feel about Arod specifically.

So if ARod gets banned for life...Yankees don't have to pay him anymore right? Seems like Yankees benefit more than anyone else from having ARod banned for life.

Then watch Yankees go out in offseason and sign Young to play 3B and Konerko or Morneau to play 1B and act like nothing ever happened.

If Young is their 3b, they'll suffer enough.

Maybe in 2003 those would be good moves but in 2013/14... well it would be like nothing happened bc their offense would still have big holes.

As for your point, it's true but that's just dumb luck. The same would be true if he played for any other team. It's not like the yankees have any control over the penalty.

Yep and the Orioles have spoken out against banning him as it would release them from his contract.

I'm torn as I want the Yankees to pay for their stupid decisions, but I also don't want Arod getting any more money.

Best of both worlds: ARod gets a ban AND all of the remainder of his contract has to go to the charity of MLB's choice. Yanks have to pay, ARod goes away, and some charity makes out like a boss.

I just wanna hear A-'Roid spout the same rhetoric Braun spewed
& say how glad he is just to have all this behind him now.
I don't understand how Braun thinks such a thing,
As soon as he has his next at bat, whether he be at home or the road,
                    he's gonna hear the boo-birds.
As for A-Hole, I'd be surprised if even ever has another next at bat.
I'm positive he'll never wear pinstripes again.
Football can't kick off soon enough for me, I never wanna hear Biogenesis
                    or the S-word again.

Just wait until the NFL starts testing for HGH. If you thought you were sick of PED talk now...

Strangely, I've made my peace with PED's in football long ago

I'm a Yankee fan and i'm so tired of Arod, want him gone, been wanting him gone. Actually wish they wouldn't have gotten him for all that money and kept Alfonso Soriano, was one of the few probably but it is was it was. Hopefully the Yankees will get rid of him for good and won't have to pay him the rest of that money.

                            Re: The Biogenesis/Suspension thread

What Angers me about the whole Alex Rodriguez scenario is the fact that Yankee fans in particular love to vilify this guy. The majority booed him at any possible opportunity that they had when mean while he was one of the best players that the Team has ever had.

From 2004-2007 he averaged 43 Home Runs 128 RBI's and 22 Stolen Bases. He posted a .303 batting average during this period and .403 OBP. In addition to all of this He posted a 7.7 WAR and considering all of this and the fact that players were still playing at a high level well into their 30's the contract extension was some what warranted. No one expected a breakdown of this magnitude to happen in a such a short period of time. Furthermore He was one of the main reasons that the team even won the World Series in 2009

Yea I understand he's an arrogant idiot and not exactly the most likeable person in the world but he was insanely productive when fully healthy. And baseball is a team sport so you can't blame the entire team's misfortune throughout the years on him.

His postseason failures had a lot to do with people's opinion of him.

The reports are A-Rod is being suspended this year and next year, but will be allowed to play while he appeals. Looks like he'll be in the lineup tomorrow.
