I hope Price and Eck get over this quickly. I think Price has a lot he could learn from Eck about pitching and media relations among other things. Eck's not his enemy; Price's BB-rate being higher than he's had since 2010 is what he should be angry about.

Didn't Price get into it with another media member earlier this year, or last year?

      Amazing how sensitive he is

        Yup.

NEW YORK — One can only hope David Price finds peace with himself, that he settles down and finds a way to enjoy, or at least endure, his tenure as member of the Red Sox.Based on what happene…

And if I recall correctly, he also had a few fan interactions where he was being a dick and correcting people about his salary or something.

He's not good enough to get away with this type of behavior and personality.

He refuses to ever play with the Yankees because he doesn't want to keep his beard clean-shaven.

Though that might speak more to the Yankees...

I didn't realize that ownership and upper management have tried to smooth things over as I would've certainly given them credit for doing so. So from that perspective kudos should be given at least. Still, it's quite telling that Price and Farrell don't have the balls to apologize or at the very least try to smooth things over short of saying "i'm sorry".

Yeah we can talk about him being a dick all day, but don't use this as a reason lol.

As for my reasoning, maybe Jr has his own...

Why would anyone want to control anyone else's grooming habits? I get not wanting your employees to look/smell homeless, but there's no legitimate reason to mandate an arbitrary policy like this in the workplace beyond the most egregious stank manes. How about fingernail length? Gonna police that, too?

I also have never experienced an employer that promulgates/enforces a policy against facial hair. It is, in fact, rare. Each workplace is entitled to have it's own policy, but it is silly and stupid.

Because it's ridiculous to govern something that happens naturally. Odd colored hair? Sure. Piercings and tattoos? By all means, forbid them.

Allowed to have hair ANYWHERE on your body except your face? Come on.

Working in a restaurant, I get it. I haven't had my beard in over a year and it sucks. But baseball players? Having facial hair doesn't make anyone look "less professional".

The idea that facial hair somehow makes a player more "professional" and therefore likely to perform better. That was the original idea anyway. Now it's just because "it's always been done that way" which is by far the worst part of baseball to me.

The only time I can see it being an effective rule is in sales (because appearances can be a big deal in terms of negotiations) and food service (just to reduce the instances of hair getting in food).
