Wright wasn't the only problem. IIRC, Wright did hit a 3 run homer to tie the game in our home opener.

Overall, we can't get a hit with RISP. We can generate the chances but they can't come through.

I'm sure everyone, fans and players included, is frustrated.

Still, the price that is being paid for Ollie compared to Lowe is negligible. I truly believe it came down to Lowe not wanting to play in a big market.

To me, if felt like he used the Mets interest for leverage with the Braves. I could be wrong; he may have just wanted to longer contract.

Either way, Ollie still has the potential, and Peterson showed us that. They just need to get back to working on his mechanics and focused on the strike zone. They need to do something because his location is his biggest negative.

I think when you're an old pitcher, you go for the extra year. Lowe already has played and excelled in two of the largest markets in the US (Boston and LA). I wanted Ollie but they have essentially paid a big contract for a guy who might be out of the rotation by May. I expect he'll have a good start against the Phils but he's such a headcase.

Also, why the hell do you not give Castro the chance to bat there? I couldn't listen to the game but did not notice them highlight any particular numbers vs. Lindstrom.

Not the only problem but he's the main problem. How can you strike out on three pitches in the bottom of the 9th with no outs and guys on first and second? I think Manuel needs to do something radical with the lineup. Maybe move Reyes to third just to give the lineup a different look.

I won't call doom and gloom as I like Manuel. But he makes some decisions sometimes that really leave me scratching my head.

you know, ever since 06 I have really felt like we have been a win or 2 away from going to the series. like this team is capable and on the edge of being a great team. watching this mets team day after day, I must say that this team is not a championship team, even if they all start playing decent, at best they are a borderline .500 team.

Im hoping, at this point for a 3rd place finish and something respectable but I think the mets coaching staff needs to be completely wiped. from the head coach to the bullpen coach, and I would like to see beltran and delgado , o perez, reyes, sent elsewhere. reyes is fast, and can hit at some points, but I dont like his demeanor or attitude. I pretty much dont like the make up of this team, and now since the mets brass are having economic issues, start over. At least give me some promising prospects to think about the future. right now im just waiting for the team to completely implode and there no hope with this bunch.

Jose Reyes is more exciting and more clutch than David Wright. Wright hits in the middle of the lineup and has become a rally killer when ever he bats in a clutch situation. Sure, his stats are fantastic but he does not produce when the Mets need him most.

I've had this conversation about what I viewed as Renegade's obvious bias against Latino players (the threads should still be on file) for the last two years...I accused him strongly of disliking Latin players, which I will always take personally, no matter who does it, because of my very own family lineage...
