Who in the hell really cares about the Manuel haters?
Anyway, on to more important matters....apparently after the game, pitching coach Dan Worthen wondered aloud if a blister on the pitching hand of Johan has been the source of his inconsistency...he said the blister was making his fastball cut--right into the wheelhouse of right handed batters....

Santana has to be hurt, he couldn't even hit 90 yesterday. Something is obviously very wrong. I've seen this guy pitch in person up close and his baseball not only jumps on you, it has a crazy amount of movement. His FB was FLAT yesterday.

This is the second series in a row we lost because of bad play. We really need more consistency from this team. The upside is when they are solid, even with Delgado and Reyes out, they are still one of the better teams in the league. Plus, David is starting to go the other way!

We just need more consistency. If we get that, we'll be fine. But damn man, injuries hurt us again this year...

I actually expected the Manuel haters to come out because... well, you know, he has managed the Mets extremely poorly as of late.

yeah, but truth be told, most of what has gone on and what has beset this team has absolutely zero to do with the manager....it's as simple as that. There are those who WANT to literally connect everything negative that has gone on this season, to the manager and that's just being biased and idiotic.

You want one example? After Castillo's dropped fly ball that cost the Mets game 1 of the inter-league series, more than a few blamed Manuel for it...

It matters not for what specific reasons, but this goes to show you that there are a lot of people out here that are not into the game--at all.

And don't get me started about the changing lineups.....
the phony, full-of-you-know-what...so-called fans have a VERY short memory. So short in fact, they conveinently forget that when Valentine was here, he was in fact, the master of different lineups EVERYDAY. And he did it when the Mets had NO injuries---which led to the cry of Bobby V finding ways to 'reinvent the game'. Oh, how these whiners forget that....hmmmmm

I hate the constantly shifting lineups with ANY manager... but I feel it actually has worked for Manuel.

I can't believe someone would blame him for Friday though. Hell, they put Beltran in motion and that scored the go-ahead run.

But he's made some really bad bullpen calls as of late... and why he decided to come out after David's bad call when that ump was making TERRIBLE low strike calls ALL GAME yesterday boggles my mind. A little late, eh Jerry? Of all the times to come out and sacrifice yourself like that? ALL GAME that ump was making terrible calls.

some blamed him for 'not teaching players to always catch the ball with two hands'...which is just about the dumbest thing any fool can say...and believe...for obvious reasons...

regarding him going out to argue yesterday...Darling and I think Gary Cohen said it was the RIGHT THING for him to do...so there you have it.

and be honest, I would care if the score was 25-0, if he had not gone out there, what you most...including the detractors be saying today?

I'm saying he should have gone out there earlier, especially in that game. You wait until it's 13-0 to go out there?

Are you seriously going to argue that? He's been pretty silent on arguable calls in the past.

Church missed 3rd base in a close game? Silence.

Wright striking out on a low strike that has been called all day? Wait a second here Ump.

It was as if he came out just so people DIDN'T say, "He never came out."

C'mon now...you should already know what happened with the Church thing....

a) Church sheepishly admitted that he 'might' have missed the bag-LMAO

b) Third base coach said that for sure, Church missed the bag. And told Jerry so on the way in the dugout

and...most importantly

c) When asked by Francesa....Torre said that the third base ump (contrary to the conspiracy theorists) was looking AT the bag...and he knew right away that since the ump WAS in position, the appeal was going to go in their favor...and he was right

so

Manuel said for the umpteenth time...most recently this past Friday...that if his coach said he missed it, and the player doesn't even protest, then what was he going out there for? To argue what? And he's right...what will it accomplish?

People overlook, that the blunder was ALL Church and ZERO Manuel. And folks also forget, so Manuel goes out there and gets tossed...and...?

The call won't be reversed. And this notion that 'ya gotta do it to spark the team' is soooooooooooooooooooo overrated...

If you need ur manager to get in an ump's face to 'spark' your team then you're in big trouble

but....

As Manuel said, as long as they stay 'close' until the big guys come back, good things should happen....

Im with him...5 games out or less is where you want to be...

I'm here... have to give Willie credit - at least he looked awake during games.. some things Jerry has done this year just make me shake my head..

I have no words for last night. You knew K-Rod wasn't going to be perfect all year.

I still feel for Castillo. He's been such a solid guy for us this year... made another defensive gem last night.

Speaking as a Phillies fan, I'm almost ready to start wishing for the Mets to play better to put a little pressure on us. Right now the Phillies look complacent as hell and I'm guessing one possible reason is that they perceive the rest of the division as so weak that they can basically just sleepwalk their way to the playoffs this season. We all know the Mets are going to make a push and it might as well be sooner than later to wake us out of our slumber.

We're playing terrible baseball right now, our pitching staff is patched together with duct tape, and we've lost our best offensive player....and you still can't gain any ground. It's really amazing.

well we are like 4-5 days from being under .500. wish we could do something as far as trades,etc but its not looking good for this team
