agreed...and the other problem with his splitter is that it too often, breaks IN the strike zone. THAT is a sure-fire recipe for disaster...

Putz' arm angle (possibly because of that elbow) is all ****ed up, it's as simple as that...

You know...I don't care what fans think, but when guys are REALLY injured, they need to sit their collective asses down. Ultimately, they hurt the team more than they help...

NO player, pitchers or fielder, should EVER have to feel compelled to play through real injury...this is not rotisserie baseball...

Yeah, exactly. I didn't get mlb.tv this year, so I haven't been able to watch the Mets outside of national broadcasts, but from what I've seen his splitter is extremely flat too.

He's so fun to watch when healthy, I was really hoping Mets fans would be able to see him dominate this year. You knew when Putz was in, the game was over and you could enjoy the last 3 outs w/o white knuckles. Let's hope they shut him down to let him get healthy for the stretch run.

I shoulda said the guys who are stars or who have major roles on their teams...why shoukd they worry? Their jobs are always guaranteed....

Well, at least we wont have the end of the year collapse now.. Sheesh, this team is a joke. The training/doctor staff must have gone to Clown U, fools running the bases, and just lowsy play...

Rough stretch there. Injuries seem to be even worse than last year. Seems like Wright is the only one that can stay healthy.

It's June 8th....

at this point in the season, with all that has gone on with the never ending Mets injuries...who wouldn't sign up to be ONLY three games behibd the Phillies, with three games against them next on the schedule, and all at Citi Field?

The Mets have a change to tie, be two games out, four games out or six games out when the series is over

we will see what they do....

Wasn't pretty but we got the W. If Santana has to double to get us a win, so be it! The guy can flat out hit!

And wouldn't you know it... I have Condrey in my fantasy squad and he has been lights out of late. Sucked yesterday. Bastard.

Have to take one more so we at least take the series.

I really wonder how good this team can be after the All-Star game when we get some of our players back. I read that Wagner is starting to throw off a mound and if we can get anything from him this season our bullpen will be pretty good. We still need one more bat though.

Ok.. and again - still cant hit nothing with runners in scoring position (how many times were the bags filled last night??) & more poor fielding (any reason why Beltran had to make the "jump" at the wall?? and Wright, can he make any more errors at 3rd?).

Someone needs to light a fire under these guys -- injuries or not, we had the opportunity to put the hammer down, yet once again, did not.

It's the same song and dance -- see 2007, 2008..

-Beltran made that spectacular play in CF as well.
-Wright hit a shot that should've been a walk-off and Werth made an amazing catch.
-We got screwed on that "double play" the Beltran actually beat out. That was the run that should've given us the win.

Considering we have a patchwork, rotating outfield and 2 stars out, not sure what more you expect.

The players are actually showing emotion out there now. Did you not see how pissed Castillo was when Santos held up at third after his hit.

I have NO idea why I have to explain these things to another fan. That game should've been ours in more ways than one.

Where was your post after the comeback win the day before????

And Wright did make a nice play at third earlier in the game. Mistakes happen. I also think that some of Beltran's issue on that play is the park is still new and he probably does not have it dialed in how far way the wall is.

I would not have set Omir on that hit either.. I'm not trying to drag out the issue, but this team isn't that good. They are failing time and again in the clutch -- which for now 2 years has not been addressed at all.

I also have two questions: up by a run in the 7th, why wouldn't you play the infield in to try to protect the lead?

I dunno - maybe I watch a different game, but I get upset when the same thing keeps happening over and over again.

PS - that Japanese pitcher is done.. I don't want him out there anymore- sad to see a lefty having lefty batters hit him at a .444 clip (before the 3 run HR to Raul tonight)..

They had a nice run where they had a few comeback wins in May, including that big win against Boston.

But I certainly hear what you are saying. Did you see the stat where 11 of the Phillies wins against the Mets have occurred after the Mets were up by 2 runs?
