Agreed...most of the time if a really good to great pitcher is going to falter a bit, it'll be in that first inning primarily...

so if ya gonna get em, that's when you do...
I've seen the Greg Maddux's, Derek Lowe's, Roy Halladays, Pedro Martinez', Jake Peavey's of the world go along the same lines...

The one thing Billingsley needs to do, is keep his walks down. Last year and this year so far, he's averaged 4 walks a game. That is on the high side...

Catch a pitcher on a bad night...and it's a potential for disaster. Remember what Frankie Frisch (as a manager) once said, "...oh, those base on balls..."

One example: some donkey's behind called on Saturday afternoon, proposing trading Reyes to the Cardinals for Yadi Molina and Khalil Greene...oh really? That guy is a ***hole. He backed up his stupidity by saying Reyes is nothing, won't be anything, he's a horrible player, he NEVER slides, he DOESN'T hustle, etc...
I kid you not...

Then, that same ***hole calls up Sunday afternoon talking about he was going to modify his trade. The host, Adam The Bull, told him there was no way he could be a Mets fan. And asked him did he realize what kind of hitter and overall player Greene was. He tried to justify the lunacy, and to his credit, Adam cut that fool off....

I heard that call Saturday evening; I'm surprised that dolt actually called back the next day.... Fortunately I can get FAN down here at night on my radio, so I can listen to the games when I'm driving to the gym. When that idiot made that trade suggestion, I almost drove off the road.

Brotha...I don't know or profess to know how it is in other cities, but here in NYC, SPORTS TALK RADIO has done more to spread negativity, hatred and foolishness when it comes to baseball, football and the NBA...than any other mode of communication prior....

Most times, it's turned what should be about INTELLIGENT exchanges of sports ideas and opinions, into a daily cesspool of virtriol, lunacy, intolerence and a lack of respect...

Another tough loss. It's still early but once we hit June, things need to pick up. As we've seen time and time again, the top of the NL East isn't stable, so we just need to focus on racking up W's. The offense isn't helping as of late and I wouldn't say it's because we ran into good pitching.

Nice to see a discussion here as opposed to some other team threads where guys are posting by themselves.

Played to compete?? That's funny... This series was filled with mistakes from start to end -- and fittingly, it was great watching suck a weak hitter ground out to end the game last night.. UGH!!

Yeah we played just enough to make the games seem competitive... but we really didn't deserve to win any of the three... aside from maybe that first game before Church's boneheaded running and the ensuing comedy.

Still can't believe I stayed up for that one. Ugh.

I couldn't do it. I get up at 3AM. I was thinking on my way to work for the fans that stayed up to see that kind of play. Anyway, big game toinight. Need Santana to stop this.

Wondering what Mets fans would think of this deal. Putz to Detroit for Guillen.
