    Re: 2009 Cincinnati Reds

The reason this team is playing much better this year is they got rid of a lot of dead weight in that locker room (Dunn & Griffey). Taveras is the man and I loved the move from the very beginning after seeing Dusty bring in Corey Patterson LOL. I still think Dickerson should be getting more AB's than Nix and also like him lower in the lineup. Hariston is the perfect #2 guy.

What could possibly make you think the .214 hitting Dickerson should be playing over the .304 hitting Nix? Have you not noticed that the Reds really starting winning/scoring when Nix was inserted into the starting line up? Nix has twice as many xtra base hits as Dickerson in less AB's.

Dickerson is a better CF than LF much like Fred Lewis of the Giants.

But we dont need a CF, Taveras is the man in CF.
I really think Dickerson is in over his head in the majors.

I dont think they are going to fall off as you say. Their pitching is just way too good to lose too many games this year. I think they are going to finish about 85-77 and just miss making the playoffs. Let me finish by saying that next year this team is going to be even better and they have a shot to be really good for a really long time.
I agree with that prediction (around 80 wins). I guess to get to those 80 wins, you have to play good baseball at some points during the season. Unless you alternate wins and losses the whole year.

I thought it was great that they had a mostly young nucleus with some vetearns added in there for some credibility. No one is above the team this year. It's been like watching a youth baseball team, everyone playing for the love of the game, not for the dollars. That's why I like when they give guys like Adam Rosales a shot. You know he's hungry and he wants to stick around at the MLB level, so he's going to give you everything he's got while maybe Edwin Encarnacion took his spot for granted. It'll be great seeing these two compete when EE comes back... hopefully it doesn't upset our rhythm.

I don't want it to happen, but I just have a bad feeling it will. The teams needs to prove me wrong
lol you know its terrible but true. I'm enjoying the ride and just waiting for the bottom to fall out simply because it always has since our '99 season.
And no way I'd play Dickerson over Nix right now. I hope it works out with Dickerson because he "seems" to have a ton of talent but right now Nix is playing great in the OF and at the plate.

What the hell happened last night? (Friday)

I didn't get a chance to catch the condensed game yet, but I look at the score on my phone and find that we're losing to SD?

We can't be losing to these teams if we want to keep our momentum. Especially with those pesky Indians coming to town next weekend.

Baker left Harang in one inning too long.

Well that explains it. Crap happens I guess.

Any word yet on Votto and/or Volquez? I just got on the Reds website and no updates yet. Doesn't seem like either were that serious. Votto probably just needs a few more days off and Volquez needs to see a chiropractor.
We sure did blow that road trip though - wow! I really hope this isn't the start to the melt down....ah there I go again....the pessimism just always seems to find its way out with the Reds.

Went out West short staffed, Masset has been out since May 7th and they were also without Gonzalez. How come Masset has yet to be DLed?
