I hope they pass on Sheff. I would rather see how Dickerson and Gomes perform. Dickerson has been hot all spring. Sheff's best days are behind him.

The article says they want to sign him to be a backup to Dickerson and Votto and to PH alot.

I sort of agree here...but if we are going to acquire an outfielder I'd most likely want it to be Sheffield and not GMJ. Although, I wouldn't mind having Sheff on my team in the show

I wonder what will happen, because the other big name in the "race" for him is the Phillies. I wonder if he would take a part time job here, or rather have a chance to win it all in Philly with probably around the same amount of playing time.

That would work. How do you feel about him?

why sign him at all? let the kids play and grow together for ****s sake. All he's going to do is take away ABs from players that need them and make ridiculous comments to the media.

I'm not sure I like the idea of Sheff being in the Reds clubhouse, to be honest. Too many kids on the team he could influence negatively. I do hope they sign a guy like Frank Catalanotto though. A vet like him who can play everywhere and is a good clubhouse presence would be nice. Geoff Jenkins wouldn't be a bad pickup either.

Well, the Reds got pounded by their AA affiliate...the Carolina Mudcats lol. Arroyo & Cordero just got annihilated man. but THIS AA lineup is Scurrry to say the least: the future looks great in Cincy folks, but the present has got issues...especially Bronson & Francisco...wow

Their Carolina team is loaded. I think the Reds might need to shelve Arroyo for the start of the season. His carpal tunnel deal he has going on has him messed up. Yesterday didn't prove anything to the contrary.

wow, i'm totally not ready for this reds season.

Whats the quick lowdown on the team? I like having no Dunn, no Griffey. I loved Votto last year and we get a full year of Bruce.

Whats the rotation and starting lineup? And whats the deal with Homer Bailey?

Someone want to tell me why and the hell the Reds let Jonny Gomes go? They kept Darnell McDonald over him. Hooray for tons of power on this team!

                      Rotoworld's take:
Jonny Gomes was told by the Reds that he won't be on the roster when it's released today.

Congratulations to Cincinnati on having an athletic bench to match it's athletic lineup: Jerry Hairston Jr., Darnell McDonald, Paul Janish, Laynce Nix and Ryan Hanigan. The one member of the group with any power has a career OBP of .274, so manager Dusty Baker won't ever have to worry about the bases being clogged up.

That is some straight up bull$hit. Gomes and Homer sent down are horse$hit moves. Bronson Arroyo doesn't deserve a spot in the rotation with his injury.

OK so I go away for 12 hours and they release Gomes and send Bailey to AAA despite Bronson's injury? WHAT.THE.****? And things were kind of looking up there for a moment but Dusty says **** that **** and brings the team back down to the cellar. Sweet.

I watched Mudcat Chris Valaika play for Single A Dayton two years ago. He's a good player.

As for the Gomes thing and Bronson still being in rotation, ugh.

When we lived in Columbus,we made the trip over to see the Dragons a few times. What a cool park. Had to sit in the grass eveytime. You guys love your baseball in Dayton!

I'm hoping Gomes will be called back soon. I find it hard to believe McDonald beat him out.
