Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
I get wanting Bryant on the Opening Day roster. Everyone wants that.
What I dont get is why you are losing your **** because Scott Boras says he wants his client to get paid. That's his job. There's no breaking news there.
You said you understand why Bryant has to be in Iowa, so then why the Chicken Little act?
Try reading the first sentence of that Bryant quote again.
And yes, they're butting heads already. Is it anything major right now?? No, BUT IT CAN BE IN THE FUTURE. That's the whole point of this.Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
I think his point is that it could be anything in the future - so why sweat it now. It's a business first, a game second - and shall be run accordingly. No one player is bigger the organization, and if Boras, Bryant, fans, media etc etc etc don't like it - who gives a ****.Last edited by bluengold34_OS; 03-18-2015, 04:35 PM.Twitch - bluengold34_osComment

"We're told we can go out there and win a spot."
That's clearly a lie. But I guess Theo is untouchable.
If you think that's no big deal, more power to you. Again....they're doing him wrong if they send him down. He's CLEARLY earned a spot. AND IF THIS WAS A BIG BOY CLUB, they shouldn't have to worry about an extra year or control. It should mean absolutely NOTHING.Comment

Nobody can tell them anything. Unless you have Theo's cell number...lol.
I'm just not one of those 'pie-in-the-sky' fans like some people. I have no problem calling out the team I root for if need be. And I feel like this is wrong, and I hope it doesn't come back to bite them in the *** later on. That's all I'm getting at.

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
I agree that Boras is a piece of ****. But he doesn't scare me. He works for Bryant and his dad, not the other way around. Yes, Mo, his dad is THAT important. I totally understand having him for another year is huge. But what I'm saying is, it shouldn't matter if the Cubs are going to act like a big market club. Whether it's '20 or '21, he's going to command a huge contract regardless.
This type of move by Theo makes me wonder if they know they might lose him in 6/7 years. THAT'S what bothers me.
And to answer your question; if I was in Theo's shoes, Bryant's my Opening Night 3rd baseman. Not because I'm a fan, it's because it's the proper way to do business, and the kid's earned it.Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
At the end of the day if they win ONE World Series during this regime I don't care who is pissed or how much money who makes or who leaves in 7 years from now. Just win ONE before I die. Everything is gravy from there on out.PSN: JISTIC_OS

After reading this article, it seems like Baez might start at AAA. He really needs to change it up.

Castro giving pointers is hilarious. If I'm Baez, I'm telling him to F off. 'Yeah bro, I'll start hitting when you start playing some semblance of defense'.
And please don't ask me to make my Starlin hate go away. It'll go away when he goes away. lolComment
