To be truthful, if this is your first time to Wrigley, I'd wait until the summer. The stadium won't be under construction, and the weather will be better. Part of the fun is the outside the park stuff... In April, it's gonna be COLD!

Hmmm... That does make sense. I'm planning to go with a friend of mine but he's being very noncommittal, so maybe if I don't hear from him before the sale starts tomorrow, I'll just wait till it's nicer.

      Nice headline by Muskat today:

Maddon likes experience Coke could bring to bullpen

Come to think of it, I certainly wouldn't put it past Maddon. He's kind of a free thinker/experimentalist. At least it's not steroids.

Some info about the change, and Baez's attempts to change his approach

After a humbling season at the plate, Javier Baez and the Cubs are switching up their plan of attack on offense.

I'm still saying Baez won't break camp with the big league club. And really he shouldn't. Struck out another 4 times in yesterdays contest and I'm not getting the sense there is going to be drastic improvement in the near future.

Needs to start in AAA where he can play everyday and work on his approach. Not sucking time at the big league level hurting the team.

Again, once he goes to AAA, probably going to be a while before we see him again.

Stop me if you've heard this one before:

Edwin Jackson is currently getting lit up and Starlin Castro had lazy feet moving towards a ball and made an error.

              I know, I know....it's only Spring Training.

This whole length of service rule is unfortunate. It couldn't be any clearer that Bryant is ready for the show. I guess 9 games isn't that long but man, would really love to see him suited up on opening day.

Lol, Bryant's stats this spring are just nutty. If you only count home runs, he's still batting .300 lol. Just insanity. I absolutely must find a way to get these games in Rochester. I can't not watch.

They're gonna have to pay him anyway...but 1 year for 9 days is a good trade off.

I don't care about pissing off Boras so much, I just care if they're pissing off Bryant and his father. I really hope this doesn't come back to haunt them later down the road.

The extra year of control means absolutely nothing to the caliber of player Bryant is. He's going to get paid big time, regardless if he's a free agent in '20 or '21. Doesn't matter.

It's a chicken-**** move for an organization that still looks like they'll act like a smaller market team. All this move does is tell me that they're scared, and there's a serious chance they might lose him to a bigger market club(Yankees, Mets, Red Sox etc) who's willing to spend serious money.

Dude WILL be the face of the franchise soon. Take care of him. Don't piss him off.

I tend to agree that the extra year of control won't really matter, but not in a small-market/big-market way. I'm really hoping, if Bryant performs to the level expected, the team offers him a major contract while he's young enough to actually produce at a level expected with that type of contract.

If he's getting paid at 29/30, the end of the contract will be like every other huge deal in baseball.

There is just so much that can happen over 5 years. I don't agree with the idea of holding him out now when it really seems like he's ready, in order to benefit in 2021.

Every damn team would the same team though. Every single one would keep him down for 2 weeks.
