Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
we cant be surprised about baez being optioned...and i think we should be happy...
let him get 100 to 150 PAs and then reconsider.
really disappointed by the Bryant move, even though i expected it.
I also understand it, even as more than a contract matter.
But it's really tough to believe that he didn't earn it.
kinda sucks.Last edited by fugazi; 03-30-2015, 09:58 PM.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
Baez wasn't a surprise. There wasn't a chance he was making the roster.
Not with the way Alcantara has played and the versatility he has, the way LaStella has played and the way Olt has played. There just wasn't room for him to sit on the roster and take his lumps and it be productive. It wasn't plausible and he has shown that he wasn't anywhere near ready and showed how far behind he was from the other guys that had recently been called up. He had an abysmal stint in the bigs, struggled in winter ball and now this spring he was terrible as well.
Makes much more sense to start him in AAA. Less pressure, more playing time. Wouldn't be surprised if they had Manny back at Iowa full time to work with him. He's just got so far to go. His strike out rate, mechanics and plate discipline are all absolutely inexcusable at the big league level and not something I want anywhere near this team. Hitting sub .200 just isn't acceptable on a team that is trying to be serious about contending year in and year out.
Like I said, probably going to be a while before we see him again.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
The only reason that Baez is a surprise is because of the reports that he was named the opening day starter (which Maddon refuted, but still).NFL: Bills
NBA: Bucks
MLB: Cubs
NCAA: Syracuse
Soccer: USMNT/DC United

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
I understand Kris' frustrations, but he has to learn to keep these types of comments to himself.
I get your disappointed, but this has happened to like every prospect. He is going to make a gagillion dollars if he is as good as he showed this spring. You signed a 6 million dollar signing bonus before you ever played a minor league game. Sack up, and tough out the 11 days and move on.
It's not like he is going to be missing months of MLB games.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Any of you guys have experience as far as purchasing tickets from stubhub for games a couple months in advance? Or are there better options on grabbing tickets?Comment
