    re: 2014 Cincinnati Reds Thread

Its amazing looking at the FSN Ohio Facebook page at the people who are totally against this and wished they would be trading Votto because BP had over 100 RBIs thus he's valuable.

I never agreed with the extension they gave Phillips, so if they can get a bucket of baseballs for him, I'm all for it. Despite the 100 RBIs, despite sMarty saying Phillips was more valuable than Votto, Phillips had one of the worst seasons of his career last year and he's not getting any younger.

I don't know the Braves farm system, but if they can get one their "top" prospects like this article says they'd be trying to, AND saving 25 million dollars from swapping Uggla's awful contract and Phillips' awful contract, I do it.
Uggla was downright awful this year though, and while Phillips wasn't great, he still is a great defensive second baseman. I think Uggla would improve at GABP though, and saving that 25 million dollars could help them possibly resign a guy like Choo or help pay for Latos and all of the other pitchers that are in line for a nice raise in their deals with arbitration.

Same here. I think Price will make a solid manager. Only time will tell if he is the right guy for us, but I expected he was the manager in waiting whenever Dusty was done.
I know Price is a laid back guy which some wont like cause some seem to think a in your face manager is what we need. Personally I dont think the in you face type manager works anymore with these guys now days, and a positive personality like Price will be more respected. I think Price will actually be tougher than some think, and wont take to dogging it by players.

I'm good with the hire as well. And I point us to Bronson Arroyo's quote on Bryan Price...

I felt when I heard Bronson say that, that the last part was a shot at Dusty. Dusty was know to go by hunches rather than smart baseball decisions, lol.

Maybe not a shot, but definitely contrasting the last manager and the now new manager.

I like this. I think we may have a gem on our hands.

I disagree about "in your face" type managers not working these days. There are plenty of teams that are good, play hard and the manager will sit players if they don't do it the right way. Plenty of them.

With that said, I have no problem with Price being named. I don't know if he will work out in the end, but he is due for a shot and as long as Jocketty improves the team where it needs to be improved, I don't know if there is a much better situation to walk into.

Will be interesting to see if he converts Chapman to a starter or if the Reds trade him.

Really??? For an owner and fan base wanting to win now how do you hire someone from within same mind set as Dusty and will handle team the same if not worse and a hire with zero manager experience like I said back to 77-85 wins per season

How can you say this, when we have no idea how he is? From all accounts, he ISN'T like Dusty, and he will hold players accountable, and the pitching staff loves him.

FYI everyone was saying the same thing about Sparky Anderson when they hired him back in the day. I think that turned out alright. Give him a chance before acting like the sky has fallen.

How is Price of the same mindset? Just because he was the pitching coach on a Dusty managed team? That doesn't mean much. We don't know how Price is going to run this team. It's good to know you have all the answers already even though pitchers and catchers don't report for another four months

You are a confusing one. If you think Price is of the same mindset as Dusty then you should be all for this. If you KNOW he won't work out, then you should really fine tune your skills and win the lottery.

Price may or may not work out. But recent history has shown managers with no experience having very good success. But I am sure you would like to turn a blind eye toward that and continue to be negative Nancy.

Im the confusing one lol okay thread full of negative nancy's and not all for this Price has zero manager experience. You dont take a so called team with all the talent to win a WS now as many here proclaim and have them be managed by a guy faking it until he makes it
