lol I had that feeling all off-season. Hey Price forget the shifts lmao Adams hit away from it twice. Same offense take care where you try to plug Bruce in the lineup when everyone continues to take strikes and swing at balls.

Why wasn't he closer to the bag? You make out 1 while hung up between third and home on a grounder to 1B?
Yeah that was a bad decision on BP's part. It looked like he motioned to Votto to get to 3rd, but the Cards trapped him quickly on the base paths so Votto couldn't even make it to 3rd. Just an ugly inning in general.

Hey we pitched well! Good story from Cueto, it's crap he took an L for this one.

I'll take that from Cueto every time out. When healthy, he's the ace of this staff.

Wainwright was also on, so I wasn't surprised that the Reds bats were over matched. Yeah, they owned him last year, but baseball is funny like that.

The shift on Adams I was kind of okay with, although at the time it was annoying. But I think the Reds, and other opponents, would take a single from Adams over a HR if the guy was going to get a hit. The other part of all that kind of falls on Cueto. Where I was sitting down the rightfield line, I couldn't see the pitch location during Adams' at-bats, but I would hope Cueto was pitching into spots that forced Adams to hit to the right side. I'm guessing that didn't happen unless Adams closed his stance up or something.

Was a great crowd yesterday for Opening Day. Was worth the long walk from where I had to park.

Good question. I guess what I meant was if they're going to shift and basically give him a single, if he can hit it that way, an opponent will take that over Adams trying to pull the ball where the likelihood of a HR, but also an out, is greater. Make sense? I guess it's the hitter's decision at that point. Take the single or try for a HR where you risk hitting into the shift.

I had tickets to the game last night but didn't go. I was hoping for a rainout. Oh well. Glad they got the W! Cingrani and Wacha was a good pitching matchup too.

Chris Heisey continuing his hot streak from spring training. If Ludwick and/or Hamilton continue to struggle Price is going to have to give him some PT. He is starting today in LF if game doesn't get rained out.

It'd be nice if Hamilton or Phillips could get on base in front of Votto...

Speaking of Phillips, we finally get Hamilton on base, and what does he do? Swing at the first two pitches. SMH. Neither were strikes, and the second one Hamilton had second stolen easily, and he fouls a ball off when the pitch was 2 feet outside. Then strikes out on like the next pitch.

Yeah they've played like **** so far this season. Billy really needs to shake off the nerves, or whatever it is, and start hitting the ball. I don't want to see Bernadina leading off for the Reds too much in the future. They need Mez to get healthy too. Pena can't hit.

Hindsight being 20/20, wished Price had stuck with LeCure for the 9th inning.

What does that say about Price's ability to manage...nothing. He made a call to go to Hoover, it just didn't work out. Broxton should be back next week, we'll see if that stabilizes the bullpen somewhat.

And Frazier is off to a nice little start to the season.

The way Hoover pitched in his one previous appearance, there was no reason not to use him today. Still, Price said prior to the season that he wasn't opposed to letting a guy pitch two innings and pick up a save, including Chapman. With the way Sammy pitched in the 8th against the Mets, yeah, leaving him out there for the 9th might have gotten the W. Who knows though. I still like Hoover. I think he has a closer-like makeup. He just had a really bad day on the mound.
