Embrassing loss. You can't let Giambi, a disgraced(I think anyway, I'm not sure if he ever was to be honest now.) ballplayer drive in the winning runs.

Looper must go.. i am soo tired of seeing him do the same thing game after game.. he's terrible as a closer, because quite frankly, he CANT CLOSE... good job tonight of loading up the bases & giving away the win..

Gotta throw some blame at Hernandez too, horrible 8th for him. We still went 4-2 this week fellas. WE have to keep having 4-2 weeks to get back in it.

It seems like he shows his age when he's played the Yankees. That horrible at-bat vs. Matsui at Shea, and the 8th last night just make me shake my head.

He's been excellent otherwise this season, but against the Yankees.. ugh, he looks more like he's 80 than 40 :P

            Can he close?

I think Hernandez should be our closer, been crying for it all season. Remember, this is a 3 year plan to get back to the Series. This is only year 1, I'll be happy with a .500 season and our youngsters (Wright, Reyes, and Diaz) developing even more. I'm also encouraged that Heilman seems to do well no matter if he's starting, doing long relief, or setting up the closer. He may surprise us in a year or so.

Victor looks good again. Something in the water? Will the Nats please lose?? We have won 5 of our last 7 and haven't made up any ground!

After getting fluid drained from his right leg Monday, Carlos Beltran said today was the best he's felt in a long time.
''Today, I feel great,'' Beltran said. ''For the first time, I feel nothing in the leg. I hope I feel like this the rest of the season. This was a good day. I was able to execute.'' Beltran tripled and doubled tonight in the win over the Phillies. Jun. 29 - 12:05 am et
Excellent sign for Mets fans. Maybe this will bring a big second half..

He's walking less now, and not panicking when he gets behind in the count.

Maybe I can start to shut up about Zambrano now.. he's been VERY good his last several starts. It's just a tweak or two with his stuff so they look like they can fool batters, and he just may be a good #3 or even a solid #2 pitcher. He's on to something here.

Solid game from the Mets. Hopefully we can put together a nice string of series wins and we will be in good position.
We have to beat up on the Braves (yeah rite) and the Nats because no one else seems to beat them. The Nats are the Expos for crying out loud and they never seem to lose!
Seeing Beltran look comfortable last night was a great sign for this team. They are .500 with him and Piazza doing nothing for most of the year, so if those two get hot, look out.

here's a mistake the mets would make.. there are rumors of a Cameron/Sheffield deal floating around - i know its just talk, but i dont want Sheffield here on the Mets..

I would much rather the Mets try to swing a deal with the Yankees for Cano. The Yankees say they wont trade him, but the Mets could offer Cameron, Cairo, and pick up some of Cameron's salary to make a deal work.

no - its not the personality.. 1) he wont report if he is, & 2) Cameron has been playing pretty well right now
