Re: Official NBA 2K7 Playbook Thread...

Can someone please clue me in here. I have been gone for a while but I want to get in on these playbooks? So we can set up playbooks for other teams? I tried to save my own once but I couldn't figure it out. Can someone explain the saving to me?

      Its pretty simple:

      1) Go into your VIP and change the quick plays in your playbook. You cannot change the actual plays in a team's playbook but you can change the quick plays.

      2) After changing them, save your vip AND your playbook.

Re: Official NBA 2K7 Playbook Thread...

Now for the Hornets. Starting roster:

        PG - Chris Paul
        SG - Bobby Jackson
        SF - Peja Stojakovic
        PF - David West
        C - Tyson Chandler

Yeah I know... Bobby Jackson isn't the ideal player you would want to have as starting 2 guard. But consider the alternative. To have Desmond Mason starting there instead? Heh, I don't think so. As for the plays:

        PG Reversal (1-4 High set)
This is a good to run for CP to treat as an Isolation play, or for Peja to stop & pop coming off a double screen set at the FT line. Check the Knicks section for description.

Bigs Pick Roll (Triangle 5 set)
This play involves the bigs -- West and Chandler. West gets the ball from CP at the FT line. Chandler comes up act like he's about to set the screen for West, but then dashes straight to the basket. West can either hit Chanler with the pass, or he can take the shot himself if Chandler draws both defenders his way. Keep in mind that Chandler isn't exactly money all the time whenever he gets close to the basket, so you have to use good judgment on when to give him the ball and allow him to finish. He's kind of like Big Ben in that aspect.

Point Shuffle SF (1-4 High set)
This is a good play to run for Peja to get him a 3 or a midrange J after a step-in dribble. Check the Raptors section for an explanation of this one.

        PG-C Screen (1-4 High set)
Known as "C Screen" in past CH & NBA 2K games. Like I've said before, this is the easiest play to run yet can still be very effective with a quality PG executing it. And CP can get it done. Check the Sonics section on "PF Screen". The only minor differences between this play and that one is that Peja (SF) will be the player CP will likely kick the ball out to on the drive to the basket, and West (PF) is the guy waiting near the basket for the dumpoff if his man goes to help out on CP.

        PF Seal (Triangle 5 set)
This is a play to run for West. He's not great in the post, but he can do a solid job down there under the right circumstances. Check the T'Wolves section for description of this play.

        SG Dive (Triangle 1 set)
A good play for Jackson that with good timing of the pass could have him slashing to the basket on the catch, which is his forte. Check the Grizzlies section for explanation.

High Rub PG-C (Baseline 1 set)
A Screen play that can also be utilized as P&R play. Involves CP and Chandler. CP waits at the top of the key for Chandler to set the screen, then after coming off the screen he has the option of driving to the basket or shooting the midrange J. Or CP can back out and hit Chandler with a pass as Chandler dives to the basket seconds later. Again, be warned that Chandler isn't exactly automatic under the basket, so it may be a good idea to finish with authority if you have the chance to do so.

High Rub SG-C (Baseline 1 set)
This is a similar type of the play like the one above. Instead, this play involves Jackson and Chandler. Standing near the sideline, Peja gets the ball from CP and waits for BJack to move to the top of the key. Then Peja passes it off to BJack. Chandler comes up top to set the screen for BJack, and then everything else goes for BJack like what's described for CP in the previous play.

Re: Official NBA 2K7 Playbook Thread...

Here goes the Hawks. Starting roster:

            PG - Tyronn Lue
            SG - Joe Johnson
            SF - Josh Smith
            PF - Shelden Williams
            C - Zaza Pachulia

This is the overall toughest starting roster for me to decide on by far. I had a few gut-wrenching decisions to make in order to determine who would start in three positions. At the PG spot, Speedy Claxton is rated a little higher overall than Tyronn Lue. But I went with Lue because he shoots a lot better. As for the SF position, Josh Childress is rated a little higher overall, but I like Smith's defense and athleticism. Plus I prefer Childress coming off the bench here since the Hawks are exactly loaded with shooters. And for the C spot, I went with Pachulia he's a much better FT shooter while being almost even in everything else. So Pachulia's more likely to cash in better than Lorenzen Wright on dumpoff passes from teammates getting into the lane and finding him open near or under the basket. As for the plays:

            SG Option (1-4 High set)
A great play to run for JJ to take advantage of his skills. Check the Sonics section for description of this one.

            Post C-SG (Baseline 1 set)
Yeah I know Pachulia and Wright aren't beasts on the low block. But it's a decent play to run to force the defense to not ignore them and help out on their teammates all the time. And besides, JJ can look for his shot if neither player getting the job done down in the post. Check the Lakers section for an explanation of this play.

            SG Iso (Motion 1 set)
A Isolation play for JJ to get him the ball on the elbow. Refer to the Magic section for a decription.

            Stack SF-C (Motion 1 set)
This is a good play to run for either Josh that's on the floor. It's a P&R play involving one of them and Pachulia/Wright. For this example let's stick with Mr. Smith and Mr. Pachulia. Lue gets the ball to Smith on the wing. Pachulia comes over to set a screen to try and free Smith at the elbow, then seconds later head straight to the basket. Smith comes off the screen he has the option to stop and pop the midrange J or stay on the move and drive all the way to the basket. Or Smith can be patient and dishes the rock to Pachulia the moment he cuts to the basket .

            PF Screen (1-4 High set)
This is a Screen play involving Lue and Williams. Check the Sonics section for an explanation of this one.

            SG Shuffle (Baseline 2 set)
This is a play for JJ to get him the ball in front of the FT line. Check the Bulls section for a rundown of this play.

            SG Take (Motion 1 set)
Yet another Isolation play for JJ. Take a look in the Pistons section to read up on this one in detail.

Pick Roll Forwards (Motion 2 set)
This is a Post play for Williams. Like Pachulia, Williams is not a dominant player on the low block. But it's good to run this every now and then to make sure Williams' defender honors him instead of completely ignoring him and becoming a rover in the paint.

Re: Official NBA 2K7 Playbook Thread...

And now for the 76ers. Starting lineup:

              PG - Allen Iverson
              SG - Andre Iguodala
              SF - Kyle Korver
              PF - Chris Webber
              C - Samuel Dalembert

I had no issues with this lineup. Now the plays:

              PG Reversal (1-4 High set)
Sixers users gotta run this with AI. And having Korver coming off a double screen is not a bad alternative option either. Check the Knicks section for a more detailed description of this play.

Pick Fade PG-SF (Baseline 1 set)
Another good play to run involving AI and Korver. Check the description of this one in the Grizzlies section.

              Stack PG-PF (Motion 1 set)
This is a Pick & Pop play involving AI and Webber. AI moves to the wing and waits for Webber to set a screen at the elbow. Then as he comes off the screen, AI slashes to the basket. Of course AI can look to score on hs way to the cup here. However, after setting the screen Webber moves toward the baseline so if AI gets trapped on his way to driving to the basket he also has the option of dishing the ball off the Webber for the midrange baseline J.

Inside Out SF-PF (Motion 1 set)
A nice 2-man play involving Korver and Webber. Korver gets the ball on the wing from AI and allow Webber to set up on the low block. After Korver feeds Webber the ball in the post, Webber can go up with the shot or he can kick the ball back out to Korver. If he does kick the ball out, then Webber moves off the block to set a screen to free up Korver near the elbow area. As he comes off the Webber screen, Korver could then either continue on the move to drive to the cup or he can stop and shoot the midrange J.

              Double Thru (Motion 5 set)
A good play to run to take advantage of Iguodala's ability to finish at the basket and also Korver's shooting ability if the situation calls for it. Check the Sonics section for an explanation of this one.

              PF Post (Motion 5 set)
A Post play for Webber. Refer to the Magic section for a rundown of this play.

Forward Dive Option (1-4 High set)
This play involves AI and Webber. It's similar to a High Rub play, instead Webber fakes a screen before he suddenly cuts to the basket.

Pop and Clear PF (Motion 1 set)
A good play to run for Webber to get him a possible open baseline midrange J. Check for the explanation of this play in the Mavericks section.

Re: Official NBA 2K7 Playbook Thread...

Now for the Bucks. Starting lineup:

                PG - Maurice Williams
                SG - Michael Redd
                SF - Bobby Simmons
                PF - Charlie Villanueva
                C - Andrew Bogut

I had no issues whatsoever with this set default lineup. As for the plays:

                SG Option (1-4 High set)
This is a great play to run for Redd considering the way he can shoot the rock along with his super quick release. Check the Sonics section for a rundown of this play.

SG Option C (Triangle 1 set)
This is a good play to run to effectively counter the defense that's committed towards trying to stop the previous play.

                SF Misdirection (Box set)
This is a play to run to get Simmons his chance to shine. Check the Grizzlies section for an explanation of this play. Now keep in mind that he's a better 3-pt shooter than midrange shooter, so it may be a good idea to use lead icon passing in order to get Simmons to move behind the arc on the catch.

                SG Shuffle (Baseline 2 set)
This is a nice play to run that involves Redd and Simmons (if Redd kicks the ball back out to him). Check the Bulls section for a description of this play.

                Comeback PF (Flex 3 set)
A good Post play to run for Villanueva. Although Villanueva is not dominant on the low block, he can do enough damage down there to force defenders to beware if they're ignoring him. And it's always nice to have a shooter like Redd out there ready for the kickout pass. Check the Grizzlies section for a more detailed explanation of this play.

                PF Post (Motion 5 set)
Another Post play Villanueva, but this time Simmons will be there to receive the kickout pass instead. Check the Magic section for a rundown of this one.

SG Rub Iso (Baseline 1 set)
A Screen play involving Redd and Villanueva. Take a look at the Pistons section to read up on the design of this one.

                Baseline Exchange (Motion 1 set)
Yet another play that's designed to get Villanueva the ball in the post. Refer to the Mavericks section for a description of this play.

Re: Official NBA 2K7 Playbook Thread...

Here comes the Spurs. Starting lineup:

                  PG - Tony Parker
                  SG - Manu Ginobili
                  SF - Bruce Bowen
                  PF - Tim Duncan
                  C - Robert Horry

Okay, I know what the Spurs users are likely about to say about this lineup. "What the hell? Tim Duncan at PF? He's going to start center this year." Hear me out.

The reason why I switched positions for Tim Duncan and Robert Horry is simply because the majority of plays in the Spurs playbook features the PF since most if not all the plays in this game are carried over from 2K6. And last year, Duncan was starting PF. I figured I had to keep Duncan at the PF spot to be able to utilize more of the playbook in the best ways possible. And now with that said, on to the plays:

                  Rub-read Option (Triangle 4 set)
This one starts off as a Screen play, but ends up as a deciving Post play. Here, TP comes off a screen set up high by Horry. If he wants, TP can break off the design of the play to shoot the midrange J or drive to the basket at this point. But if not, he can wait on the perimeter for Horry to go down low on the strong side. Now Horry isn't all that good a back-to-the-basket player -- we all know that. But that's where the deception of this play sets in. While Horry is going down there, Duncan is already settled in the post on the weakside of the court. So when Horry is finally calling for the ball, the ball is swung around the horn to Duncan. This is really good to run because it will likely catch the defense off guard at first. They may not know this play is really designed to get Duncan the ball in the post, so defenders won't look to double down on him right away. It's possible to get away with running this play a few times until they do. And even if they catch onto that, don't forget that TP can look to score or make a play on his own.

High Rub PG-PF (Triangle 6 set)
A nice play to run involving TP and Timmay. Check the Pistons section for a description of this one.

                  PF Seal (Triangle 5 set)
A good play designed to get Duncan the ball on the low block. Explanation should be in the T'Wolves section.

                  PG Dive (Baseline 1 set)
This play allows TP to go to work on his man one-on-one. First, TP passes the ball to Ginobili. Then Ginobili gets the ball back to TP as he makes a move to the elbow area. From there TP has the option of shooting the midrange J on the catch or getting into triple threat stance and making it happen.

                  Return PG-PF (Motion 1 set)
A good P&R play to run involving TP and Timmay. Refer to the Pistons section for a rundown if this play.

                  SG Iso (Motion 1 set)
Hey relax, Spurs users. I didn't forget about Manu. This is an Isolation play that can get him going. Take a look in the Magic section to read up on this one.

                  SG Take (Motion 1 set)
Another Isolation play for Manu. The Pistons section has a description of this one.

Power Play PF (Triangle 5 set)
Here's another Post play that's good to run for Timmay. Again, check the Pistons section for an explanation of this play.
