Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Just finished the first season of my Cavs association. My goal is to win a title before the Heat win one. Luckily the Magic won the title, so the quest continues.
They finished last season 39-43, a game out of the 8th playoff spot. Made some trades and started building the team around JJ Hickson. We got the 10th pick in the draft and I traded Ricky Rubio & the 10th pick to Indiana for Ty Lawson and the 5th pick. I drafted Enes Kanter from Kentucky to give Hickson help in the front court. I made a run after Carmelo when he declined the option, but he signed a 4yr deal with Toronto. It was a very weak FA class, so I opted to plug a couple of holes and save the salary cap money. Now the team is an 81 overall, and ready to the next step to the playoffs.
Rotation starting season 2:
C: Enes Kanter
PF: JJ Hickson
SF. Michael Beasley
SG: Rudy Fernandez
PG: Ty Lawson
6th: Arron Affalo
Role: Spencer Hawes
Role: S. Telfair
Bench: T. Hansbourgh
Bench: Joe AlexanderComment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
After playing My Player to death I finally started a fantasy draft Association with the Suns. I had the 12th pick overall in a snake style draft. My roster...
PG - Aaron Brooks - Starter
SG - Ray Allen - Starter
SF - Grant Hill - Starter
PF - Amare Stoudemire - Starter
C - Marcus Camby - Starter
SF - Dorrell Wright - Sixth Man
PG - Goran Dragic - Role Player
PF - Brandon Bass - Role Player
C - Chris Anderson - Role Player
SG - Thabo Sefolosha - Role Player
SF - Kyle Korver - Role Player
PF - Reggie Evans - Role Player
I'm 7-1 (6-0 in played games) and Aaron Brooks is averaging over 20 APG. Ray Allen doesn't miss and even Grant Hill went off for 33 points against the Lakers.
The craziest thing I've done yet is score 25 PTS(9-15, 7-10 from 3) in 8 minutes with Korver. He only gets garbage time 4th quarter minutes but when he's in it's bombs away.
How can I turn a guy on my bench and an aging starter for a young stud or 1st round pick?Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Decided to go as the team I follow, the Orlando Magic. Made one trade in the first year in acquiring Serge Ibaka so that Dwight Howard had a defensive dominator and that Rashard Lewis could move back to the small forward position and have an advantage with his height. Ended the season 60-22, however I got knocked out by the Cavaliers ( who somehow managed to knock out Miami and Atlanta to make it to the finals and play Memphis ). Memphis ended up winning the crown.
After a lot of trading in the draft screen, I acquired the 4th overall pick ( gave up Nelson, Orton and some other with the late pick ). Picked Kyrie Irving who turned out to be rated 77. Finally the key to this teams future. Didn't re-sign Carter but did get Alonzo Gee to replace him and also snagged up Calderon via a trade I think to complete my team.
Orlando Magic - 14-3.
( Ratings in brackets )
PG - K. Irving [rookie] ( 80 ) 18.3PPG, 7.9APG, 2.9SPG, 2.3TOPG.
SG - A. Gee ( 73 ) 13.4PPG, 1.2SPG, 2.0TOPG.
SF - R. Lewis ( 78 ) 13.3PPG, 3.6RPG, 1.5TOPG.
PF - S. Ibaka ( 79 ) 9.3PPG, 8.1RPG, 3.4BPG, 1.6TOPG.
C - D. Howard ( 94 ) 24.5PPG, 14.6RPG, 1.2SPG, 2.4BPG, 2.2TOPG.
6th - J. Calderon ( 72 ) 10.1PPG, 4.5APG.
7th - B. Bass ( 73 ) 6.6PPG, 3.1RPG.
8th - Q. Richardson ( 69 ) 2.2 PPG, 2.3RPG.
9th - J.J Redick ( 68 ).
10th - R. Carney ( 63 ).
11th - K. Lucas [rookie] ( 62 ) 3.5PPG, 3.0APG.
12th - E. Dampier ( 59 ) 3.8RPG.
Howard is having a monster season and I'm hoping he can keep it going with a point guard that distributes to him he seems to be getting a lot more points and shooting a .587%. Thinking about adding a back-up center for Howard that would contribute a lot more than Dampier but I don't want to give up to much and want someone who is happy with a bench role, any ideas?Football: Manchester United
MLB: Cleveland Indians
NBA: Miami Heat
NFL: Cleveland BrownsComment

Had a look at those two but Chandler is still a free agent and wants more than I can afford. Decided to look into the D-League and noticed a guy who was leading the league in blocks and had a good rebound per game average too, the bonus was he is 7'4" so he should be a menace in the post ( only rated 54 but I'm not too bothered about that ).Football: Manchester United

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
The New Jersey Nets have just played their first game of the 2011 season. It was against the Portland Trailblazers who were without a legitimate starting point guard since Andre Miller left for the Heat until Devin Harris got traded there.
The game was no contest as the Nets blew out the Blazers in Portland by 23. Carmelo Anthony had 25, 9, and 5 and Derrick Favors added 9 points and 15 rebounds.
Their next game is against the Knicks who are ranked 1 spot better than the Nets.Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Took over the cavaliers, and in my first two years i had 5 picks in the top 7, so now, in 2013, my lineup looks like:
PG Brandon Knight 84 ovr 22 yrs
SG Reggie Bullocks 77 ovr 22 yrs
SF Michael Gilchrist 82 ovr 21 yrs
PF Perry Jones 88 ovr 21 yrs
C Enes Kanter 88 ovr 21 yrs
6th: Durrell Summers 72 ovr 25 yrs
I'm hoping to win a championship in the next two years, and i really don't see a weak part to this point besides the age, and they've got plenty of time to win one. at least the heat haven't won one yet, because the whole idea of this was to win one for cleveland before lebron. Thoughts/Suggestions would be nice.Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
It's been a while since I've given an update on my Jazz assciation, so here goes...
I just finished the month of January. I went 13-3 during the month to increast my league leading record to 39-10. My loses were to the Knicks (they just outplayed me), Lakers (no answer for Kobe), and the Timberwolves (Corey Brewer was unstoppable. Had a chance to send the game into overtime, but JJ Redick missed a three at the buzzer). Had big wins against the Rockets (115-105), Wizards (101-99), Celtics (103-98), Spurs (124-102), and the Warriors (117-110).
Starters:
PG- Deron Williams 27.1 PPG, 13.9 APG
SG- Raja Bell 10.0 PPG 49% 3-point
SF- Andrei Kirlenko 9.5 PPG 1.8 BPG
PF- Paul Millsap 19.4 PPG 7.3 RPG
C- Al Jefferson 17.0 PPG 7.6 RPG
My bench is great with JJ Redick (6.4 PPG 46$ % 3 points), Serge Ibaka (filled in nicely while Jefferson was hurt), Gordon Hayward (5.0 PPG), and Earl Watson (2.8 PPG 3.9 APG), all playing great ball.
D-Will is second in the league in All-Star votes and first in the MVP race. He's been player of the week eight times and player of the month three times. Paul Millsap is third in the MVP race.
Around the rest of the league, the Thunder traded Eric Maynor and Nick Collison to the Mavericks for Jason Kidd and Brian Cardinal. The Celtics traded Nate Robinson and Marquis Daniels to the Grizzlies for Acie Law and Allen Iverson. The C's then traded Glen Davis and Jarvis Hayes to the Cavs for Anthony Parker. Flip Saunders was fired from the Wizards.
February is gonna be a fun month. I play the Rockets (28-22), Nuggets (24-24), and Thunder (28-19) to start out, then I have games against the Bulls (26-21), Suns (x2 25-21), Dallas (32-15), Pacers (26-19), and Celtics (30-18) the rest of the month. So, hopefully I do good and I'll probably update again after I play this month.Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Ok, I managed to start my association now that the Dynasty rosters were re-released.
58 Game season - All Star - 12 min quarters - Dynasty Sliders.
7 - 7 Record through December. Started off 1-4 with tough defeats against Golden State, Detroit, New York and Chicago. Then I started to figure out my rotations and get some standard plays that I use and went 6-3 in my next 9 games. My schedule has been pretty easy so far with Boston the only elite team I've faced so far, and they drilled me 115 - 89 at home.
PG - B.Davis 12.1pts 3.1 Rebs 5.1 Asst
SG - E.Gordon 19pts 4.7 rebs 3.5 Asst
SF - A.Aminu 4.8pts 3.4 Rebs 0.9 Asst
PF - B.Griffin 22.7pts 8.1 Rebs 2.9 Asst 1.4 Blks
C - C.Kaman 16.6pts 6.7 Rebs 1.5 Asst 1.4 Blks
C.Smith - 5.6 pts
R.Foye - 4.9 pts
R.Butler - 4.6 pts
R.Gomes - 2.2 pts
Griffin and Gordon are by far the stars of this team, Griffin could go for 30 every night, he's almost unstoppable at times.
I need advice though. I want to add a scoring spark to my bench and I'm not conviced with Foye and Gomes. I struggle to find Foye minutes around Davis, Gordon and Bledsoe and I can't get much scoring out of Gomes. Do you have any advice about trading those for a scoring SF that I can bring off the bench?
My second option is to trade the two for expiring contracts and make a run for Melo in the off season. That means I'll have to try and find the spark in the free agent pool this season, but probably means weakening my team this season.........
Any advice?Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
The New Jersey Nets are now 2-1 after a win against NY and a loss against the Celtics.
Against the Knicks, Brook Lopez just dominated the paint but Amar'e did as well. Toney Douglas was knocking down 3 after 3. In the end, Melo made clutch shots to secure the lead. Kyrie Irving also recorded his first triple double in his 2nd career game finishing with 3 10's.
The Celtics had little size after KG and Perkins. Glen Davis and and Erden are their backups(Shaq retired..) so I tried to draw some fouls. Too bad the refs didn't call any. Instead, they called fouls on my team on the other side of the floor. My team ended up being in foul trouble and we lost by 10.
This team is so much fun to play with. Carmelo is just great to use, and I like the potential of Irving and Lopez. I just signed Lopez to a max contract too.Comment
