Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Just made a wizards franchise, because i couldn't really get attached to my cavs one. So, the first thing i did w/ my hometown team was get arenas out of here. i ended up trading in the division to the hawks for joe johnson, and i think there was a couple of scrubs thrown i there. Now, i'm running w/ a lineup of

    PG John Wall
    SG Nick Young
    SF Joe Johnson
    PF Andray Blatche
    C Javale McGee

    6th: Kirk Hinrich

First game was a lowscoring affair, 85-76 over the magic, with wall getting the double double w/ 24 pts and 13 assists, and 3 steals. Blatche had 14 pts and 13 rebounds, and mcgee recorded 7 blocks, including some that flew into the front row. Young had 9 pts, and johnson had 21 pts. Hinrich had 11 pts and 4 assists off the bench. I like the lineup im running w/ so ill probably hang on to it unless we start slumping. there were some traded i found on trade finder that i declined because i thought it was cheating. one had arenas for gay, and another on for granger, and i dont see a high chance of this happening IRL.

        Chicago Bulls

I got bored of my old association so I decided to restart one. I simmed and saved until I got every win and loss correct for the Bulls so I could start out at 14-8.

My first user game was against the Pacers. Best game I've played this year. It went into 2OT but I ended up losing since D. Rose fouled out, and Granger went nuts in the 2nd OT.

Granger finished with 56 points, 9 reb. Rose had 38 points, 9 ast, 4 reb, 2 stl, 2 blk.

        --------------------------------------------------------------------

I wasn't getting it done with CJ Watson, I guess I just never really got his game down so I decided I was going to look for a trade option. I saw that the Kings had a HUGE hole at PG with Udrih out for the season with a torn MCL. Their best PG was a 61. I wanted another PG in return though since John Lucas III isn't that good either. I stumbled upon the Bobcats who had 61 ovr Shaun Livingston who I wanted. After messing around for a little the trade came out like this:

        Chicago Receives:
-Donte Greene, 62 OVR. SF: 1yr-1.12M
-Shaun Livingston, 61 OVR. PG: 2yr-7.00M

        Sacramento Receives:
-CJ Watson, 69 OVR. PG: 2yr-6.50M
        -'11 1st Round Pick (Bobcats)

        Charlotte Receives:
-Jason Thompson, 71 OVR. PF: 1yr-2.18M

Sacramento needed a point gaurd badly. Jason Thompson was also furious with his role and minutes on the team, while the Bobcats were thin at PF with Tyrus Thomas only being a 71 OVR. Essentially Charlotte was trading Shaun Livingston for Jason Thompson though, which is very one-sided, so Charlotte threw in their 1st round pick to even it out.

Sacramento got a PG replacement and a 1st rounder to enhance their rebuilding process. I didn't ever find CJ Watson's game, and I just imagined the mismatch problems with Shaun Livingston running point which made it much more appealing. I still was giving up a young 69 ovr pg for an injury prone 61 ovr pg. I looked through their roster and immediately saw who I wanted; 6'11 swing man Donte Greene. Although he is only a 62 ovr with C- potential, I will try to work on him to become a star player in this league. He'll be my version of "anthony randolph".

        Recapping Everything:

Charlotte gets young PF depth it desperately needs. By trading Livingston and a 1st rounder.

Sacramento gets a PG to fill in the giant hole at starting PG, and a 1st round pick to speed up rebuilding process by giving up Donte Greene and Jason Thompson who was VERY angry about his playing time.

Chicago gives up 69 ovr backup PG, but gets HUGE upgrades in size. Along with a trusty backup pg, and a potential force in Donte Greene.

        Thoughts?

With my Knicks franchise I did it legit. Just had to give up way too much. Check a few posts back for info on it, but it is possible. But it was a bad move for me I lost 2, 1st round picks, Chandler, and Randolph and now Melo's hurt and may or may not sign with me. I'm gonna start a new one and just run with the lineup the knicks use in real life. But what a waste of Randolph and Buike. By the way I also lowered Randolph potential to B+ and his rating to 68 because he was too high, also his primary position to C. But they still took the trade even for the lower rated Randolph.

I need a roster that has real rating and tendencies for PS3 I was using an edited Hoosiers from like 11/24 but so much has changed in the NBA in two months pertaining to ratings, especially my Knicks! Any realistic rosters for PS3? I play with Purists Post Path Sliders and realism is a must. Thanks guys

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I just started one up with the Nuggets and had a wild season of wheeling and dealing -- my goal coming in was I wanted to trade Carmelo and then try to rebuild without him. I managed to get rid of Melo and some other overpriced veterans like Kenyon Martin and Chauncey Billups.

            - First I sent Chauncey Billups to Sacramento for a 2012 1st-rounder and PF Darnell Jackson.

            - Traded Melo and Melvin Ely to New York for Kevin Love, Danillo Gallinari, Ronny Turiaf and a 2011 1st round pick (Love had been traded to NY along with Sundiata Gaines for Anthony Randolph and Eddy Curry..KAAAAAHN?!)

            - Traded Kenyon Martin to Sacramento for Samuel Dalembert and Luther Head.

I simmed the whole season and missed the playoffs, Celtics beat Lakers in the Finals -- Knicks with Melo/Amare got to the Eastern finals but lost to Boston in 6. So I ended up with picks #14 (Denver's pick) and #23 (New York's pick)

Clippers offered me their #5 overall pick and Chris Kaman (expiring contract) for Nene (Expiring contract) and Danillo Gallinari (expiring contract). I knew I'd need an impact wing player to truly replace Carmelo so I pulled the trigger.

At No. 5 I picked 6-8, 244-pound small forward from Kentucky Terrence Jones.

Tyler Honeycutt, the impact wing player who I had been hoping to have fall to me before trading up, went to Utah at #12 so at #14 I grabbed PG/SG Josh Selby from Kansas.

I planned to trade out of #23 but Kyle Singler was there and I thought he'd be a good candidate to fill my big slow white guy that can shoot the lights out void left by trading Gallinari so I took him.

To round the draft out I took Jimmer Fredette at #14 in the second round.

Re-signed JR Smith and brought in Matt Barnes on a 1-year deal.

Here's the new look Nuggets rotation heading into the 2011 season and first full season of the post Carmelo era.

            PG - Ty Lawson/Josh Selby/Jimmer Fredette
            SG - Aaron Afflalo/JR Smith
            SF - Terrence Jones/Matt Barnes/Kyle Singler
            PF - Kevin Love/Al Harrington
            C - Chris Kaman/Chris Andersen

After helping get the Knicks to the conference finals, Carmelo took his talents to...Sacramento...?

Melo, the bulls sg problem still hasn't been fixed. What was (would be) your solution?

Iggy, the fairest trade would send Deng away weakening the SF spot. Solutions?

Reg Roster, SG problems still there. Solutions?

Opinions of non bull users would be great too
              Hey mate!
I am also playing a Bulls association, though I am naturally a Lakers fan. But the Bulls are more of a building franchise. About the SF spot and Iggy, I did it that way:

I traded Boozer and Deng against Iguodola and E.Brand.

Now I play with Rose, Iggy, J.Johnson, Brand and Noah.
As for the ratings Johnson is the weak point but he is really much more than a 63 overall. He is strong, a good defender, shotblocker and still not a bad scoring guy in the paint. I try to push him over the seasons so he will be like a new Charles Barkley. Somehow he is kind of my favourite and the association is also about to make him a superstar.
About the rest of the team:
Rose is very dominating, averaging like 28 pts/game (or so.. just don't know it as I am in the office right now). Then after a huge gap there comes Iggy with 13 or so. Korver is my high scoring 6th man, being 3rd overall and scoring the likes of 12 ppg.

              Playing Pro/Sim 12minutes/qtr.

It seems I am rebounding and shotblocking heavily great but having lots of turnovers. Still I really like my franchise.

Can't wait to start, I just don't know if I want to do a fantasy draft or not.

Maybe I'll utilize my 2k10 strategy of drafting the worst team possible and then trying to build them up.

Been awhile since I have updated.... played the ASG last night as the West, but the easy won. Kobe dropped 34 though.

As for my Mavs...they have won their last 10 games and are 40-16 which stands as the best record in the NBA.

Will update how my association looks after I finish Feb. Plan on playing the game vs the Jazz (30-27), and then simming the next 2 against the raptors and wizards; both losing teams.

Speaking of the wizards....traded Arenas to the Knicks for Eddy Curry's expiring, Azubuike, and the knicks 2011 1st rounder. The knicks got the wizards 2011 2nd rounder which will be a high 2nd.

Your basically swapping starting centers and role shooting guards in this trade. In my opinion, I'm thinking your getting the wrong end of the deal in Tony Allen for Harden. Gasol IMO is better than krstic better rebounder, more physical, gives you a solid presence in the lane. However, James Harden is a good shooter and can score which gives you a dynamic player alongside the Durant and Westbrook. Most likely teams will focus on Durant and Westbrook and open shots will be open for your other players, Harden is a player who can consistently knock down shots from mid to long range. Allen is more a defender and average slasher who can get his points but it's more based on athleticism than skill. Krstic is more capable on offense than Gasol in terms of being able to knock down a mid range shot. Finally, Harden is a little younger than Allen. It really depends on yoru playing style, but IMO with the style I normally play with I wouldn't go through with that trade.

Gasol is an upgrade, but OKC already has an offensively limited/defensive oriented 2 guard in Sefolosha...no need to trade Harden for Allen, but in order for you to get such a good young center such as Marc Gasol you've got to give up something.

Won nba finals and half my team wanted to leave(those with expiring contracts left).

With exception of my big 3(Williams,Iggy,Josh Smith) as well as my top draft picks(2 are C/PF and other 2 are SG/SF), everyone on this team can be moved if needed.

I'm only playing 11 guys though but it sucks cause all my bench guys deserve to play 20+ minutes but my starters are too good to not play 35+ minutes.

Sounds like some of those bench guys are expendable and might fetch you an all-star caliber player. Hopefully they don't cause ruckus on the pine.
