Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I'm hoping i can start one tonight....I'm finally off from college for a month after tomorrow, and i am hoping to get some playing time in. Now i just need to choose a team...Spurs, Nuggets, and Bulls are all good possibilities. I really like playing with all 3 teams....

5-1 so far first season with the Mavs. I had no idea Dirk was such a monster on the game, I just had a 51 point game with him against Denver.

Starting up with the Raptors in 10 minutes. Not making any trades until mid December most likely (same for CPU). Roster doesn't look too promising at all, but that could change if I land a high draft pick in hope of picking up Perry Jones or maybe Sullinger.

Should I feel guilty? Is this such an unrealistic trade considering how upset he was in Phili?

Anyway, my starting 5 looks like this:

          Felton (PG)
          Turner (SG)
          Galinari/Chandler (SF)
          Amar'e (PF)

Well, I decided against going for Jay Nicholson (good call, except for potential) and took Troy Houston, the 6'3 180lb. PG out of Miami of Ohio. I figured I would not resign Stuckey, and make the run at Carmelo. With my 11th pick, I drafted another gem that they had let fall through, in Nathan Flanders, a 7'0 Center with A+/A+ ratings. There wasn't really anything close to that type of talent remaining at any positions of need, so I drafted him, knowing he'd be a great trade chip. He was as he came in as a 75 OVR at 21.

Had many offers throughout the draft and only wound up taking one, for the SG I picked at 25, Alan Henry. I guess the Suns see themselves losing Richardson's abilities, as they had drafted another SG prior, but they gave up a 2nd rounder in this draft, and surprisingly, their #1 next year. Couldn't turn it down, and it was well worth it, as Henry wound up only being a 61 OVR and I couldn't have played him at all.

Got to free agency, offered Carmelo 4 years plus his own option for a 5th at max money (obviously) - with a No-Trade Clause, and he accepted within 3 days. I had tendered Stuckey, and with no other plausible SG options out there, I matched his offer sheet with the intent of playing him at SG.

Sent Greg Monroe to Big Man Defense, my new PG Troy Houston to Untapped Potential (he is now an 81 overall to start, 83 with my morale) as a 22 year old rookie, and now has a 99 potential. He'll be the Pistons PG for years to come. Unfortunately, because I traded him, I sent Rodney Stuckey to Perimeter Shooting, assuming he would be my SG. Well, I made some trades once the year flipped to ensure the further building of my squad, and got a natural 2 with some excellent backup players.
Nice set of posts!!!! I'm hooked, hopefully you don't get bored playing with this team since there talent level is really high.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

My association has been going rather well. After making some trades for expiring contracts (and trading off Gilbert Arenas for Michael Beasley and spare parts) to clear up cap space, my team is going to be good now and into the future. Was able to get the top pick of the draft, and was able to draft a 6'6" SG Dee Riley, who I actually start at SF because of his slashing abilty, and unusually good inside game for a SG. He's also an outstanding on the ball defender. Have started the season 6-0 so far.

              Starting Five:

              PG: John Wall, Rating: 88
              SG: Nick Young, Rating: 70
              SF: Dee Riley, Rating: 81
              PF: Michael Beasley, Rating: 80
              C: Javale McGee, Rating: 72

              Bench:

              PF: Sean Williams, Rating 64
              SG: Alonzo Gee, Rating 70
              SG: Michael Redd, Rating 72
              PG: Patrick Mills, Rating 68
              PF: Josh Powell, Rating 68

And then a bunch of scrubs after that. (Jamario Moon isn't actually that bad, but he is rated 62. A really underrated rebounder when he plays)

Right now, I go with a 9 man rotation, and with Michael Redd injured with a sprained wrist, Alonzo Gee has been taking the minutes and running with them averaging 10+ PPG, and 5+ RPG. My starting 5 is pretty incredible, as 4 out of the 5 can rain down mid-range jumpers from anywhere on the court, and McGee being fast for a center can use his speed to his advantage against other, slower centers. It's an incredibly balanced scoring attack, with everyone but McGee averaging more than 15 PPG.

Defensively, it's all about McGee. When he leaves the game because of foul trouble, I tend to struggle defensively without him on the floor. He's averaging 3.3 BPG, and usually changes shots if he doesn't block them outright. With Sean Williams his primary backup, I have two players who can really sway away weak inside stuff. My outside defense is a little suspect, but opportunitistic. The rookie, Riley, is a great on the ball defender, but gets caught off the ball looking quite often. Wall is solid at the PG, defensively. Beasley is terrible, but can have his moments.

Overall, my team is well balanced, if lacking in real size or a real low post presence in the offensive end. But with all the slashers and shooters I have, someone is going to catch fire, and score 20+ in any given game. It's incredibly fun to play this team.
              Hornets to Seattle? Hmmm....

I haven't played in days because I have been waiting for an answer, so if someone could please answer ...

I feel like this one would pretty much throw away the season because the drop in depth is pretty significant. I was offered the Raptors 1st round pick(19-35, 6th worst record currently) and Julian Wright(63 ovr, D+ pot.) for TMac(71 ovr) and my 1st round pick. Right now I am fighting for the 8th seed with the Knicks, we have the same record, I think I will accept it, I might be able to pull through, and anyways, I might not be able to secure the 8th seed anyways with TMac...although this is after taking over the Pistons who were 6-14 and then bringing them to 27-28.

It's really not that much depth and you pretty much get a guaranteed lottery pick. I would go ahead and do it.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Started a Raptors association a while ago. I started with the roster after the trade (Bayless + Stoja in my roster).
I used different line-ups. Evans, Calderon, Derozan and Bargnani started most games, when they weren't injured. I had Kleiza, Weems and even Derozan start at SF. Reggie Evans was injured for the last 2 months and I was out of the race for the playoffs so I started Ed Davis at the 4 for the remaining of the season too.

Only made one trade during the first year, at the deadline :
Tor gives : Barbarosa(Wasn't fully satisfied with playing time all year) + 2012 1st round
NY gives : Gallinari (wanted to be a starter)

Ended up with the 3rd overall pick and I picked up a 22 years old Center that came rated at 76ovr. He was being compared to Dwight Howard by the scouts so I was excited.

I let go most of my expiring contracts, except Derozan and Weems (resigned one year).
The free agent market was really poor so the only signing I made was Michael Redd to be my 6th man for one year.
My young players developped quite nicely so I am going to keep playing them and see where I can go from there.

My line-up looks like this :
                    PG: Calderon / Bayless
SG: Derozan / Redd / Weems
SF: Gallinari / Kleiza / Weems or Redd
PF: Bargnani / Ed Davis / Kleiza or Johnson
                    C: Rookie / Amir Johnson / Alabi

Weems and Alabi don't see much playing time, but otherwise I use my bench a lot. I like playing with this line-up right now, I am putting up a lot of points (averaging 107 points a game last time I checked).
I have a really good record right now too, thanks to a 10 game winning streak that started after 3 games into the season. My record is 18-8 right now. I don't expect to keep it up like this for all year, but the playoffs are very probable this year.
I don't expect to make any trades right now, but somewhere in the future I might be interested in a good guard defender, and maybe a star player if no one steps up (I'm hoping Bargnani keeps improving and either my Center, Gallinari or Derozan can become one sometimes).
As for the point guard position, I will probably keep Calderon until his contract expires and if Bayless doesn't improve enough this year, I will be in the market for a good PG too.

                      Recap l

What a december to remember, Carlos Boozer returned on the 1st and we took off and haven't looked back yet, We finished 12-4 in the month and have Central division in our hands right now. We lost 3 games in the 4th quarter, all 3 we had leads and with foul trouble we lost. Rumors of a Jamal Crawford to the Bulls have heat up in the last 2 weeks but no deal has been finished as of date. I sent James Johnson down to the d-league to get minutes and play, with Boozer's return it meant Johnson's minutes would be limited to 2-3 a night with Taj Gibson being Noah & Boozer's back up. All-Star voting, Derrick Rose (970,985) is 3rd in the East in Guards behind Wade and Rondo, Joakim Noah (523,339) is 4th in the East in Centers.

Started another association with the Knicks because I wanted to go the 12min quarter route.

The first thing I did was trade A.Randolph for R.Hibbert (who averaged close to a double-double throughout the course of the season) at the center spot.

I then simmed the first season in order to get a deep-playoff run squad with the help of the 2011 draft. I managed to get the 1st round draft pick from the Kings (who were bottom of the Western Conference) for Wilson Chandler (his expiring contract made me decide to make the move). This turned then to a #1 overall pick and I went with Harrison Barnes to fill my SG role. I then also snatched up Donatas Motiejūnas who I had done workouts with during the pre-draft workouts. I got him at the #17 overall first round pick and it was tight as I thought he would picked earlier, very exciting draft! He is very much similar to Pau Gasol; being 7ft and at the PF/C position.

I traded Tony Douglas (during the actual draft) for the #21 1st round pick and Thomas Tyler and I chose Demetri McCamey for the #21 pick. Demetri McCamey seems to have lots of swagger, great shooting mechanics and fairly quick. I tried to make a move for Melo but I was -9mil on my salary cap for the first year on his contract I really didn't wanna alter my starting 5 tremendously and so therefore have still have most (3/5) of my players from the original Knicks squad in the starting lineup.

My roster now looks like this:

                          Starting lineup

                          Felton (PG) , Rating: 79
                          H.Barnes (SG) , Rating: 82
                          Galinari (SF) , Rating: 77
                          Amar'e (PF) , Rating: 88
                          Roy Hibbert (C) , Rating: 80

                          Bench

Demetri McCamey (PG) , Rating: 71
Donatas Motiejūnas (PF) , Rating: 79
Landry Fields (SG) , Rating: 69
                          Rautins (SG) , Rating: 65
                          H.Whiteside (C), Rating: 60

...but you didn't have to restart just to change the quarter lengths. You coulda just went to options.

Yes, true, but I didn't really like my roster and thought it would be more fun to start again

If this was to me, I'm actually the Pistons. My first season my starters were 4 Pistons and Kevin Love. Bynum was my point guard off the bench, and Wallace my Center/6th man for quite a time. I got rid of McGrady because he's a cancer, and I played him until he began bitching.

Nothing is the same after year 1. My starting lineup now has the top free-agent that was available (legit), a lottery pick that I traded for long before the lottery and then traded up, my homegrown center, Love and I would have brought Stuckey back too if he could have shot a little better. And as it was I shipped the 11th overall who should have been in the Top 5 with him to balance it out.

I only think this was to me because the arrows directed to my post and I don't see anything about the Nets anywhere above me. No offense taken, either way. I think I built everything the smart way!
