Thanks for your input Matt. I think if I do move Gil, it will probably be to NY.

Personally, I'd like to see him in PHX so that Nash and Hill can make one more run in the playoffs. However,I guess the problem becomes what does PHX give up to get him? I'm playing my Association with them and I can't quite remember everyones contracts but, I can't remember them having too many attractive expiring deals. Plus, I don't know if I would want to give away too much of the future. Especially since PHX likely going into rebuilding mode once Nash retires. Well on second though, I guess it depends on whether you think PHX will try to rebuild around Arenas or will he be one and done in PHX and maybe trade him for picks in the offseason.

Either way, I'm very interested in what you do. Hell, I may end up "copy catting" you trade Although, I am currently infatuated with JRich but, you never know.
If Gil went to PHX the only way it would be feasible is by moving JRich. Given that, I can't really move him to PHX because JRich is having a better season, and is a large expiring contract that PHX would probably rather have.

That's why the Knicks move is more attractive to me...Plus my roster file doesn't include Landry Fields. I would send Arenas and a 2012 #1 pick and maybe another player, for Azubuike and Eddy Curry's expiring deal.

Just beat magic 96-91, I cant help but feel grimy with sleaze sauce on top. The magic hoisted up 42, yes 42 3s. Connecting on 14, vince carter jacked up 33 shots including 14 3s which he was 4/14 from deep. Meanwhile, dwight howard attempted 4 shots. Hard to enjoy a win when the cpu plays like a group of chumps at the local ymca.

Just coming back to 2k11 post patch. Is there anything I need to be aware of or tweak in order to get the most out of association this year?

        Thanks in advance

^this. Perhaps a look at the injury report, maybe the Lakers are *gasp* without Bynum or someone else... but yes... the Grizzlies are very talented in this game with Randolph, Gay, Mayo, and Conley. Except for Mayo, they match up well at EVERY spot, if not a victory at every spot. Gay would give Odom fits on the defensive end. Randolph/Gasol is a wash... and Conley is ages ahead of any PG on the Lake Show.

Regardless, yes - they fix a major bug - and now when something "strange" happens its horrible! The majority of those teams that should have been winners WON. It's one series.

            Chicago Bulls

Times are getting rough here in the Chi. Despite the quick return of Carlos Boozer, the Bulls are outlasted by the Pacers to drop there 8th straight. Going from 9-6 to 9-14 and outside the playoff picture looking in.

            Starting Lineup:
            Watson
            Bogans
            Deng
            Boozer
            Noah

The Bulls entered this game with a determination to win despite missing there all star caliber player Derrick Rose to injury. Quickly jumping out to a 17-6 start against the Pacers the Bulls looked rejuvenated with Boozer entering the lineup. All I really need to say is it didn't get any better from there. The Pacers not wanting to end this in the 1st quarter called a timeout and regained there composure. Narrowing an 11-point lead to a 4 at the end of the quarter.

In the 2nd the Bulls and Pacers stayed consistent. Each scoring 23 points apiece to go into halftime 45-41.

The 3rd quarter is where it really began to go down hill. The Bulls got into one of the funks, which have been a reoccurring theme with Rose out, and couldn't create shots. The pacers on the other hand were playing excellent basketball and easily out-performed the Bulls. At the end of the 3rd score was 68-60 Pacers.

The fourth quarter was the same story for the most part, aside from the late push by the Bulls when all the Pacers reserves were in. Bulls lose 96-84.

            Thoughts on the Game:
            Pros:
            -Reserves play well
-Can contain star players (Durant-21pts, Granger-20pts)
            -Defensively consistent
-Everyone on the team has a role
            Cons:
-Go into major FUNKS where they can't consistently score points for a whole quarter
            -Terrible perimeter shooting
            -Not consistent offensively
-LOTS OF TURNOVERS that could be prevented

With Rose returning later in the month, that'll provide the Bulls with the needed star power and offensive consistency to win games. Until then though...

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Don't have the game open, but the game I played against the Kings last night was probably the best game I've played yet. I lost on a sick buzzer-beater by Tyreke, 89-88. He took the inbounds with 3.2, drove toward the baseline on the left side and let it go (fairly contested but not great) from about 19 feet. It bounced off the right side of the rim, fell onto the right side of the rim and looked like it was going to roll off before lightly swishing through the basket leaving me with my most devastating loss yet.

I forgot to mention a few things in last nights updates, one that I was not completely winless during the sims, my team did beat the Bobcats. Also, and I can't believe I forgot this considering the initial "uproar" but Tayshaun was injured for 2 weeks in his first game with the T'Wolves! Wesley is playing really well for me, don't think it'll be long before he's averaging 20ppg, and he's also grabbing like 6.5 boards per with I believe 1.7 steals. He rarely if ever turns the ball over also, which has been an added bonus from a rookie.

I've got McGrady upped to like 22 minutes per game now, and he's still -2 on his ratings and his morale is under the 75 line STILL. He started the season as a listed role-player (initial role selections) - has been upgraded from 11-14 to Sixth Man Role and 17, to 19, 21, and 22 now and STILL has not stopped complaining. Team Chemistry is at like 34% now, I think I need to move him sooner rather than later.

I put him into the trade finder last night but didn't find a lot I was blown away by. I guess Chicago feels they are close as they were willing to offer a 1st and 2nd rounder straight up, and I think the best players I saw were J.J. Hickson, Marcus Thornton, and Beaubois.

I probably will make some type of deal when I go back to the game, though. I had been hesitant to make a move because I haven't gotten that great of a look at Ellington in the played games (he's set to 5 minutes, but rarely has shown in my games because Rip usually goes off) and other than the aforementioned Thornton, there have not been really any good 2's offered for T-Mac. I'd obviously love to grab Hickson, but when Monroe returns (he was down to 4-6 weeks last night) it'll create a logjam for minutes up front as Ben is playing a lot of minutes, and I've been quite happy with the contributions I've recieved from Maxiell and Jerebko, and Kenyon has been solid (but can't shoot a lick!).

Speaking of Monroe, I think this is the coolest thing about injuries in this game and I noticed it in a couple other instances as I reviewed every team's news individually. Monroe's injury was a torn hand ligament, and he was originally out 4-6 weeks. Like 4 days later in the team news, there was a story saying that Monroe had opted for surgery on his torn hand ligament, and he was then out 6-8 weeks when I looked at his player card. Bad for me, but love the depth of this game!

I'm going from memory again, but I know I lost simmed games to the Lakers, GS, and I believe the Clippers, but I beat Portland and Memphis in played games. I think there was another simulated loss, but I will give a more detailed update when I am back to my console. Record is hovering around 6-9 if memory serves, and while I'm not happy, I'm only like 3 games out of the playoff hunt!

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Here's a deal I'm exploring in my all-30 teams association between the Pistons, Nets, and Warriors.

Pistons send Tayshaun Prince and Kwame Brown to Warriors, and Rip Hamilton to the Nets.

Warriors send Vlad Radmanovic and Dan Gadzuric to Detroit (totals $14M in expiring contracts), Brendan Wright another $3.4M in expiring contracts, plus their non-lotto 2011 #1 draft pick.

Nets send to Pistons Troy Murphy ($12M expiring).

                Thoughts?

Basically the Pistons would then have 3 1st Rd picks, and only Will Bynum, Ben Gordon, and Greg Monroe under contract.

The Pistons are 16-36 and the Warriors are 26-24 (but on a 3-game losing streak), and the Nets are on a 3-game winning streak and still in contention for an 7th/8th seed.

As of right now I'm 2-11 as the Nets. I'm still getting a hang for this game while playing on HOF so this is to be expected.
Yeah, that would never happen, but hey, what can you do. I'm facing the Thunder or Hornets, both of whom could make a legitimate deep playoff push. Anyways, here's an update on the next round as I just finished playing through the second round of the playoffs.

                  Western Conference:

#4 Hornets knock out #8 Grizzlies in a 4-3 series.
#3 Thunder knock out #2 seed Mavericks in a 4-1 series.

                  Eastern Conference:

#1 seed Heat knock out #4 seed Bulls in a 4-0 series.
#2 seed Celtics knock out #6 seed Magic in a 4-0 series.

Here's the matchup for the Eastern Conference Finals.

#1 seed Heat (me) vs #2 seed Celtics

                  Western Conference Finals are next.

#3 seed Thunder vs #4 seed Hornets

I beat the Bulls by 39, 26, 24, and 13. I followed my usual game plan and forced outside shots, allowing everybody but Korver to shoot 3's or just long mid-range jumpers, and it worked to perfection. Got what I wanted and I will be facing the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals, should be a fun series. I will move up to Superstar/Sim next season no matter what as I am currently on All-Star/Sim and I have gotten really good. I will make 3 more posts here and won't post here for a while as I will be on my new season, but I will update after the Eastern Conference Finals, the NBA Finals, and after the off-season concludes. Here's hoping for a title in year 1 of my association.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

For those that were interested on "minutes played per game" and if it matters if the CPU sims the same amount of minutes. The answer is NO. You could play 5/5 for played/sim minutes, and the game will register players into the Hall of Fame based on those time frame games.

This was a major problem in previous games, players would play through a career or shortened minutes and not be able to make the Hall. I simulated until 2030 when John Wall retired, never having played a game above 6 minutes in his entire career, and still went into the HoF. I actually knew the year before when a player that was on the Pistons squad I was "controlling" that was a CPU generated player got inducted into the Hall.

I can't speak to shortened seasons, but at least now people can still be inducted based on the merits if they want to play a "new" NBA with 6 minute quarters to save time. I thought about it myself to be able to play all games, may run a fantasy draft association or a different team other than the Pistons at the 6 minute mark and see how fun it is getting more games in and being able to play all of my games instead of simming!

EDIT: Some things I noticed while simming... LeBron finished his career in Houston, with the "Big 3" being broken up in 2015 with no titles, and actually - they fizzled before the Conference Finals every year. He retired in 2023, with no rings. 16 time all star, 3 time MVP, Hall of Famer, but NOT NBA Champion.

The Jazz just won their 5th ring behind their amazing PF/C Randy Everett, who also has 3 Finals MVPs. Houston won their first of 2 rings in 3 years the year after Lebron hung it up. Kobe never got another ring, but with Tyreke Evans the Lakers also won another ring the year after Kobe retired.

Brandon Jennings is a 2 time Finals MVP and 2 time Champion to go with it along with a regular season MVP to go with it. He and Deron Williams were my biggest "HOF Snubs", along with Carmelo, but I signed him to "my" Pistons in the first offseason and they went no where under CPU guidance.

I let the final season simulate and Cleveland was right, they did get their first ring before LeBron ever did, even if it was 8 years after his retirement. Interesting stuff.

I've run into this problem with Evan Turner. the last 2 associations I've started he is listed as a starter but doesn't get any starts so his morale plummets so I manually changed his role to 6th man and simmed to the AS break and still his morale went down. Has anyoe had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

Just simmed through a 28 game association till like 2030. Players will again be inducted to the HoF based on their contributions in 28 game seasons.

I did discover a bug however. There are NO worthy assistant coaches after like year 4 in the association. Needs to be fixed, so get yourself someone decent early and never let them go.

Had a great game last night against the Wizards in my Jazz association. Nobody on my team was hitting their shots and the Wizards couldn't miss. They eventually pushed it to a twenty point lead. I finally found something to work which was...Deron Williams driving on John Wall. I would do this pretty much every time up the court, usually got fouled. I eventually caught up and in the fourth quarter, took the lead. I ended up winning 101-99. Deron was clutch, scoring 52 points and netting 8 assists. But, with five seconds left and the Jazz up 101-99, D-Will would miss two free throws to give the Wizards a chance to tie it. With John Wall having fouled out, they gave it to Gilbert Arenas, who missed at the buzzer.

With that win, the Jazz's record is now 33-8.

Hello guys.. I'm planning to start playing association mode with the Clippers right now.. I just want to ask of what difficulty, minutes, shooting type, sliders and game speed should i use to compete with the other teams in terms of statistics with the AI's 12 minute simulation?..

Honestly, I doubt I make a move towards someone like Arenas. I normally don't make a lot of moves. If I do, it's because of an injury or closer to the trade deadline (I'm only 5 games in right now :o). By the deadline I'll know who the contenders and pretenders are. I don't see myself making a move but, if I did make a move it would probably be for more traditional PF. I love Grant Hill but, I see him as more of a 3 than a 4 and I need someone who can help take an the Timmy Ducan's and Pau Gasol's of the world. I think I'm fine with Hill, Warrick, Fyre and Lopez for now though.

My biggest concern is Nash retiring. Once he goes I think I'm going to go away from the Run-n-Gun offense and slow things down a bit. I believe Dragic is a very solid replacement at PG. But, I don't want to end up having to sign a lot of FA's and getting myself in Cap Hell. I'd almost rather make some trades and try to get some players with Bird Years.

I think that NY would probably be a better destination, as well.

Looks like a very well thought out trade to me. I'd say go for it.

My third-year OKC team made it to the finals! I'm down 1-0 to Charlotte (I was also extremely surprised having beat the heat) after a shocking fourth quarter performance. Westbrook and Austin Daye both got double doubles (8 min quarters). Gerald Wallace (still @ Bobcats) was terrific with 21 points and 10 rebounds and so was Brandon Knight.

                                Westbrook: 12 points; 12 assists
                                Daye: 14 points; 16 rebounds; 5 blocks

Hopefully I can come back strong in the second at home; my team is exhausted!
