It will raise your overall, but so will a ton of other things. If you aren't interested in it, I'd wait on it. I'm not a dunker myself, except with my SF. My PGs and SG never dunk. I much prefer focusing on layups and perimeter shots.
If you are consistently getting on streaks, I would highly recommend consistency then. It helped my 3pt specialist PG a ton. Before I raised it, a single miss would kill my streak.

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Hey Coop, what kind of play style are you using for your PF?
Edit: Nevermind, I watched another one of your videos and I see what you're using now. All-Around seems to be pretty unanimous. I'll give it a try. I know it's just a pain to get passes in the Rookie Showcase, but once I get on an actual team, and I'm able to have auto-plays on, I'll be set.Last edited by TheBadMammaJamma; 03-26-2012, 02:01 PM.NBA - CHICAGO BULLS

Just created a new MP to go along with the current rosters.
MP: Scoring Small Forward
Height: 6'10"
Weight: 230
Age: 19
Drafted: RD:1 Pick 12 (Utah)
I made my guy to resemble Kevin Durant and his scoring ability. My guy can practically hit anywhere on the court. So far we are 1-1. I am most likely going to ask for a trade to the Los Angeles Lakers after I play the first 5 games.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
I just wanted to check if anyone else is using the Create a Legend game mode instead of My Player to play out an NBA career. This has several advantages that help to minimize frustration and saves time with having to deal with a player that lacks skills to compete. The benefits are:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o
>
1. Create your own player with decent skills and abilities that allow him to better compete in the NBA<o></o
>
2. Assign your player to a team of your choice, so you do not have to worry about requesting a trade that significantly disrupts your target team members<o></o
>
3. Speeds up the player development phase and allows you to contribute to the team success sooner<o></o
>
4. Let’s you get better access to the abilities and performance packages that makes the game fun.<o></o
>
For example, I created a new scoring PG and gave him improved athletic skills (better speed, vertical, stamina and quickness). I also tailored his skills to my preferred play style that is shoot 3s and attack the basket (decent layup, dunking, inside shot, shoot in traffic ect.). Finally, I gave him improved abilities as well as a good dunk and layup package to generate some excitement when I manage to get an open path to the basket. His final OVR was around 74 (low awareness skills), which I think is consistent with a high first round draft choice. I assigned him to the Lakers and started a Creat a Legend game for him to compete with Sessions for the starting PG spot. I just find this mode more enjoyable than having to start out with the minimal skills and abilities that my player allows.
Thanks<o></o

However, I've never tried CAL before. Is it practically the same as My Player? You earn skill points in each game and spend them on whatever attribute you'd like? If so, I might have to give it a shot, really.NBA - CHICAGO BULLS

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
I actually had never given consistency a thought. I get on hot streaks all the time, so if I was able to stay consistent that'd be awesome. Now, unlike everybody else that plays 2k, I don't really care about my dunk. I figure I'll get my layup to about 90, get the Tony Parker set, and I'll be happy. There isn't any benefit to being able to dunk is there? Unless raising the dunk stats boost my overall, I think I'll leave it alone for a while.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Man, i always feel like i'm getting cheesed in the 2nd half. i'm also playing on pro/sim can't imagine the cheese in high difficulties. maybe its cause im t-wolves. i do call timeouts when i feel a run coming but out of the time out my teammates and i find open shots but can hit them, yet al jefferson can hit turn around jays near 3pt line with a doubleteam and make it without hitting the rim!!Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
also, how do they determine the awards? i always see lebron getting MVP.
i also see Kawhi leonard only averaging 7.2pts and 3.2rebs and yet he's fifth in award races while jimmer fredette is averaging 15pts 5ast and he's not in the race? maybe cause he's not starting or something cause he's in the race for sixth man of the year.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Well, months ago I made a MP, and got him to a 75 OVR. But once the trade deadline came around IRL I had to make a new MP so that I had the updated rosters. So I figured I was going to 'continue' that original MP by creating him and using him in Create a Legend. My problem is it doesn't matter what roster I save him to, and load - he's never an option to use in CAL. I've assigned him to the Nuggets, and I've saved the roster. Just for safe measure, I load that same roster, and as I enter CAL, he's no longer there. However, when I back out, go back to the menu, and go to manage roster - he's there.NBA - CHICAGO BULLS

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Create a Legend is very similiar to my player, with the following exceptions.
Cannot re-edit the players looks once you start
no after game press conference
No player buzz rating
The career progression in terms of wining skill points to better yourself is very similiar to the My Player Mode.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Alright, I got it to work. So rather than posting MP stats, I suppose I'll post CAL stats throughout the season. Hahah. I'm just glad that I didn't waste weeks of my life on a MP that I'd never get to use again. I mean sure, I'm not using him now - but the one I am using has the exact same stats as him.
I'm currently the backup PG for the Toronto Raptors, at a 76 OVR.Last edited by TheBadMammaJamma; 03-26-2012, 06:58 PM.NBA - CHICAGO BULLS
