Re: CPU Timeout problem, reason inside

spankdatazz22, you are exactly right. I've basically been skimming through the same complaints and also same posts. It's like every post now is focused on this one issue. Some of you guys write in here like you know EVERYTHING about business and game production. You guys write like you KNOW for a fact that VC will not patch this problem, though it's VERY possible and VERY easy.

It's a simple glitch. Somewhere or somehow, a variable of "0" and "1" may have mixed. Works pretty much like the finals glitch of last year's game. The variable has been mis-coded or mixed up, so a patch is very easily in the cards. I believe that VC will fix this problem as they have fixed similar problems in the past. Sure 2K4 didn't recieve the patches it needed, but that game needed a patch for everything it offered.

However, spankdatazz22 is right, how can we go on and on about all of this when it's clearily evident that VC did a lot of work on the game in less than a years time. However, because somewhere this problem came through, we are going to boycott all VC games and spit on them, even though they have attempted to create the most realistic sports games today.

Someone mentioned the glitches in EA games because for some reason, they are ignored by the majority. EA had to recall Madden last year because of the import problem. They didn't do it out of the kindness of their hearts and felt for the consumer, they did it because it was a feature they sold us that didn't work. VC does not state anywhere that a timeout will not be called by the CPU, and thus, can not be sued for any false advertising. That's the ONLY reason why EA did the recall. They do not want to lose more money from lawsuits than just re-releasing the games.

I say give it one month. Come November 1st, I bet we'll have info on a patch or have a patch available. While this would be great, but the best thing we could do is respect the developers of VC for putting in so much effort in this rebuilt franchise. This technically is the first NBA 2K. It was built from the ground up and completely overhauled. We can try to pursuade Sega/VC to release a patch with the Xbox magazine, or submit CD's to local retailers that will patch the game. It's cost effective and will help all with the game.

If I worked on the game and read these posts, as a human being, I'd naturally want to say, "**** You!". No different than when I'm working at Taco Bell as fast as I can to serve my customers, only for them to cuss me out and think they have some grand power. We should confront Sega/VC and inform we understand that these things happen. We are all HUMAN BEINGS, regardless what you guys think the game isn't real. We should not jump their throats, but inform them that if they attempt to fix this issue, we will highly respect everything these guys have done. Please assist our problems with the game and display to us that you support your consumers. That would be greatly appreciated.

I was citing YOUR example. But I guess you meant it as a negative, rather than a positive (towards NFL2k5). Either way, I'm not trying to belittle the issue. Hopefully they'll be able to patch the issue, I just think that some are blowing it out of proportion in trying to call it a gamekiller.

Playing w/no fatigue online (in Live & Madden) removes a level of strategy, but it doesn't make the games totally unenjoyable (other than Live being laggy online from what I hear). The TO issue removes a level of strategy, yes - suprisingly, where people feel like they're cheating the CPU. But do most games come down to the last minute? The computer fouls when it needs to. If the computer is behind and in need to call timeouts, then it means you're ahead or tied - the computer SHOULD lose, if you play competently. How often do people go on extended runs that would require the CPU to call a timeout? I won't continue to post on this stuff, it's getting tiring. But I think people unfairly hold 2k4 against this game. I've read more about Inside Drive here than I've read in any of the forums, and I'm not sure why ESPN here is held to this unwritten standard. To a game that's been cancelled, no less. Either way, I'll be hoping that this is an issue that can be patched. As well as all the other issues some seem to have w/the game.

Dude, while VC made changes to the game and many areas are great, give me a break about so much work in so little time. VC works so VC can eat, get paid, clock them dollars, resurrect them dead presidents. Do you think they say, "We made this game for the fans and their families"???

This is an issue that should have been addressed in QA.

Do you think that the developers are just putting in hours for money? While it is a job, it's a job that these guys spent years in college to get. It's a rewarding job that values creativity. If it was just about getting paid, then why would they fix this game if they didn't care at all? They could have set some new default sliders, add a new gimmik, and call it new. No different than when an actor does his best performance, they want to get noticed too. I'm not speaking for VC, but I am speaking for those who are developing the game. You act like they just sit there and twiddle thumbs. Have you ever talked to anyone passionate about computer programming? It's their thing. God, I'm done with all these boards, you guys continue to whine and crap in your diapers, I'm done!

We all know that a few bugs in the game should have been caught and fixed by the QA team. It is evident someone there messed up, or knew about the problem and didn't fix it.

It's also understandable that the game was rushed this year to get a head jump on the competition. I hope for next year, the game isn't rushed and gone through a "Quality" test phase.

At the end who's the one paying their salaries? We do.

This game is so close to being a great basketball game, or on the verge of greatness..

I just hope there's a patch to fix these bugs. Especially the timeout bug.

It was my understanding that they rushed 2k4 out the door in order to have extra time to work on 2K5. Looks like they also rushed 2K5 out the door because this game is ultra buggy.

I've just given up all hope. My franchise is ruined. The TO bug made my very last game unexciting and just flat out predictable. Couple that with the false avertising about this "Next Movement" and what you got now is a travesty, a sham and a mockery. Its a travashamockery!!

I've just given up all hope. My franchise is ruined. The TO bug made my very last game unexciting and just flat out predictable. Couple that with the false avertising about this "Next Movement" and what you got now is a travesty, a sham and a mockery. Its a travashamockery!!
See that is what I am talking about. This thread was created to discuss bugs, errors and glitches. Now if i went to other general areas and posted this then i would be wrong.

Also someone mentioned about these guys being passionate about what they do?? Give me a break. If that were true these things would have been fixed. Now if they do a recall and apologize and everyone gets a free new copy, then cool. BUT I DOUBT IT. There POV is probably, well dang it was only $20.

See while I am not a computer programmer, I am a financial analyst. Having said that, there was so much money allocated to the VC ESPN Basketball project this year (including development, QA, Advertising, and Misc expenses). There is also a target return on investment that VC's finance department wanted. If you compile that with a $20 price tag, you get..........NO RECALL, PATCH etc.

Now if VC was sooo passionate about their game they would forfeit some of those profit margins and do a recall/patch to correct this as a courtesy to fans of their product. But you wait on it..............
