Re: CPU Timeout problem, reason inside

When you talk about bugs killing franchise modes, who could forget last year's bug in NBA Live where you could sign ALL free agents for minimum salary. And I paid 50 bucks for that. How did that slip by the testers? Well its easy, QA is a process of communication between the testers and the developers, recommendations and complaints from testers, developes respond and fix things...but obviously every fix can also be a new problem..thus the game should go back to testers etc. In other words, it's a matter that can take some time.

However, management may not see it like that. So you can have conversations like "How far are you? Do you have a working beta of the game?" "Well, yes, but it's not really tested enough, I'd like to keep it in testing for another few weeks." "Hm..well it works doesnt it?" "Yes basically it does but theres certain details.." "What do you mean? Details? Can it be fixed?" "Yes, but we need time." "You have 3 more days to test it, that should be enough, I expect a finished product by then, we cant afford to have the game out after the competition, you understand that? I expect your team to make a serious and sustained effort to reach that goal." "Yes."

It just adds SO MUCH to the game...

-I can work with sluggish controls for IsoMotion
-I can work with very little 3 pt. shots being taken and made
-I can work with a broken franchise that makes ridiculous trades and gets a little tedious
-I can even work with the AI seeming a little dumb

But I CAN NOT work with not being to implement Strategy late in the game to pull out the win. With this, the "intelligence" factor in playing this game is gone in Franchise.

That's it. Exhibition only for me.

Stinks too, b/c I kept giving the game chance after chance after chance... I guess I have to take the game for what it is now...

I feel the same way. I can work the things you mentioned but for me, I'd like to keep a user record, id like to play franchise... This is a gamekiller and I wont even play another game AT ALL, knowing in the back of my mind that a bug like this lingers.

Maybe my mind will change.. but i dont know right now.. i had a great OT game on AS in exhibtion mode with everything default including the TO's, and it didnt seem to bother the CPU. but then again I WAS the one calling my OWN TO's

Even if you don't play franchise and just strictly exhibtion mode I discovered the TO bug still effects you because milestones aren't recorded.

Basically after you switch sides and switch back your record doesn't count thus you can't unlock the unlockables like the all-time teams, courts, etc...

The 2 best solutions I found is to save TO's for late in the game so you can call them and help out the comp. The other solution is late in the game (if you feel like you might run out of TO's) is to quickly move the ball up court and use no more than 10 secs of the shot clock so it gives the comp time to bring the ball up the court and set up a play.

                I can't believe it's come to this...

But then again, we are talking VC here and the same guys who "left out" a whole level last year.

Us "how do we play hall of fame level...the game is too easy!"

                VC "Ummmmm...it doesn't work"

Us "but it says right there in the manual that it's there"

                VC "Ummmmm...oh yeah, Ummmmm..."

Fellas, I figure that since they fixed the clipping bug on ESPN NFL, they will fix this as well. It would be less of a fix than trying to fix a clipping bug on a football game. I'd give em a couple of three weeks to get a patch out for it. If anyone lives around me and doesn't have XBOX live, I'll be glad to hook your XBOX up with my online account to patch the game.

Someone said earlier for an exhibiton game you can keep your stats and have the CPU call timeouts. You just start the game with two controllers, one with your vip record. Before the tip off use the second controller and change the cpu TO and late game fouling. Then all you do is go to options and put the second controller back in the middle. Wa La I had the cpu calling like 3 time outs in the first half, and unlocked crap for 10 blocks, 15 assists etc. Piece of cake, no option though for franchise. There would not even be a way to save a TO for the computer towards the end of the game. If they are down with the ball you can't call a timeout, who thought of that?
