Neo is very right this is a huge bug.. No game is going to be with out bugs but such an obvious one come on vc. I got this game wed I loved it it plays so much better than last years its seemed to be the better b-ball game this year until now tis to problem is huge. Sure i can deal witht the lack of 3's and trade problems but this sux. How can you have sim game when the computer dosent call timeouts very realistic. They better patch this.

I thought i found a pretty good replacement for ID but guess not. ESPN may look pretty but this is really a "game killer" for us sim freaks. ID is still leaps and bounds ahead of espn and live in terms of realism guess no b-ball for me this year atleast from espn unless this is fixed. Also the playbook bug is pretty bad to.

I sure hope there is a remedy for this. I will surely spend sometime looking for a solution.

Let's face it fellas, 2k4 was a long mile away from ID 2004 in the A.I./ playbook department. Anyone who played both would know this. If you were expecting this game to be ID 2005 over that short development cycle your goals were just too darn high. 2k5 is a HUGE upgrade over 2k4 imo and I don't see enough people recognizing this fact. The game had a lot to fix man, A LOT. If they would have just focused on the A.I. we would have been stuck probably with a lot of the gripes from last year(dunks, people turboing all over the place with no consequence, weak shot animations, etc.)

They completely had to overhaul the whole game with a completely new movement system which in part changed all the gameplay mechanics from a year ago. I knew there would probably be some problems as implementing all these new things would lead to something potentially being screwed up.

All of my games have been against a human, but people who say that the timeout bug can be a huge hinderance on the gameplay are right. This is especially troubling in a close game against the cpu. Hopefully we as a group or VC can find a solution.

I feel that saying all companies produce games with flaws is not an excuse, but it certainly is a fact. I saw a special on G4TV about EA Sports where they said that the company has over 200 full time testers. Did any of these guys notice that last year's Madden on Xbox was unable to import NCAA rosters from the same year before it shipped(based on people's gripes here)? Or that this years title crippled the D when the offense audibled too much(based on people's complaints here)? Or that some people had to turn off new features to enjoy the game more such as HFA in NCAA or weekly prep in 2k5?

I can see that VC worked really hard this year on the game despite the labels such as morons, idiots, etc. that have been handed out here. They made a big mistake with this, but I'm not going to burn them at the stake for it.

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

I agree with you ninja this is a huge improvement over 2k4 HUGE I couldnt even play espn nba last year and smile at the same time now it can it plays pretty nice I knew it wouldnt been ID 05 but was just hoping it would play somewhat like it. In ways it dose but the time out bug is a killer for me in franchise mode....I prolly still keep it for just exhibition games. Just hope we get a patch.

The fact that this game was only $20 probably decreases the chances of VC taking the time to fix it.

That's just my thought on the situation, I'm not sure if it's true or not though. Hopefully not.

I agree the game made huge strides, but any game tester could have easily found this bug. That makes it inexcusable in my book. IMO this just shows that ESPN development team did not hire beta testers to test the game. This bug directly effects the gameplay of the game. Nothing is more frustrating than seeing the computer down 2 with 2.5 seconds left in the 4th quarter inbound the ball from full court when they have 6 timeouts left. This is one of those bugs that should NEVER happen.

It's also frustrating that due to the fact I only spent $20 on the game, I feel like I am not justified in being as upset/frustrated as I would if I had spent $50.

Just curious: do you also find the quicksand glitch "inexcusable"? How about the lefty glitch? You were complaining a ton in the impressions thread about other issues you had with the game BEFORE this glitch became an issue. No disrespect, but this seems like something just to pile on. Just by nature, a game will NEVER be perfect. I was reading where someone hated the sim engine in the game because scores seemed too low - and it seems they were only off BY THREE POINTS. If people look hard enough they're going to find something they don't like.

Guess my expectations just aren't as high as some. I it's amazing that VC/Take Two are able to produce high-quality sports titles when they're at a decided disadvantage. There are only two developers out there making sports games. TWO. How many people would've given their games a chance if they were priced the same as EA's games? They've put out three sports titles that I've enjoyed IMMENSELY (and I'm not even a hockey fan) - that's $60 for three quality games. And STILL they're talked down as if they're somehow trying to take advantage of consumers, as if they're products aren't even worth TWENTY DOLLARS. Gimme a break. It's one thing to be critical; it's another to be ridiculously unaccepting of anything short of perfection.

I'm not saying that bugs should be ignored. But they should be taken into context. Many people are obviously enjoying the game (other than the ultra-hardcore, it seems). No one wants to see bugs, but have some appreciation for the overall product.

I understand some of your points but all the bugs you mentionded lefty bug in ea mvp, but a time out bug in a basketball game is HUGE. This basicly takes of sim part out of this game for franchise mode. So I dont think neo or anyone is taking this bug out of context a time out is a huge part of basketball!
