I along with a lot of others went to Gamestop last night for Madden release. When you're at the register they ask for preorders on the big releases - Fifa, Assasin's Creed 3, 2K13, Black Ops 2 - and of course no mention of Live 13. But this is all part of EA's grand plan, I guess.

I mean what are we talking about here people? A month away from the supposed release of a AAA game title and you can't even preorder it? Hell likek I said, the release date hasn't even been officially announced. In this day and age, that's unheard of. THAT's why people are skeptical, it has nothing to do with being a 2K fanboy/bashing EA at this point, it's just common sense that something doesn't smell right with Live 13.

Let's just say this, for posterity - not announcing a concrete release date for your game is a HORRIBLE marketing strategy. Not allowing your game to be preordered is a HORRIBLE marketing strategy. Not releasing any info about your game, even after a video comes out of said game that was horrible and you called 'pre alpha' is a HORRIBLE marketing strategy.

Can we please stop it with the 'this is EA's grand marketing plan' nonsense? Because everything I've learned about marketing and seen from how other companies - hell not even other companies, EA themselves - market games tells me that this is some pretty piss poor 'marketing' strategy, if it is their strategy to not release any info until literally the day before the game comes out.

Very few AAA games could do what EA has done with Live (Live WONT be AAA lol). The only games I could think of are GTA, Halo, and probably a few others. They have enough of a fanbase and history that people will buy it if it comes out tomorrow and they release a single commercial today.

Live needs to be shown or at least talked about. Fans take disappointment much easier if they are fed the truth instead of lies. At least then the mindset changes to, "Well this is solid and could be built off of, this doesnt work so well, etc etc"

This thread is proof that EA is doing it right. Every one of you will be there the second EA drops a video or demo. The more threads demanding to be marketed to there are, the less need for marketing. It's pretty funny, really.

I'm not sure what the big deal is. Either EA will have a game or they won't. If they do, it will either be good or bad. Is it really going to affect anyone here if the game comes out or not?

There is a sense of entitlement among gamers that is just flat out astounding sometimes.

This cracks me up too. Why are you guys still here if you ALREADY know your not purchasing the game. I remember Pared saying the same thing about the 2K announcements, Their strategy is working if its getting you posting in threads and talking about the game. But I know people will say that they just want competition.... then turn around and said Live will not be better then 2k. If the competition is so bad and EA is not listing to you why keep posting here? Your obviously interested in the game.

How so? That's cool. right now, the marketing is headed into the direction of "This game is ****ing terrible.....I wonder how much worse it can get?" You don't see anyone in here talking about how they're going to buy live unless they have problems with 2K or they just want a different game for the sake of getting a different game.

Bad press isn't good press. If Bad press was good press Elite would never have been cancelled.

To take it further...all the casual/average fans are going to know is that....Live looks terrible....and that's it. They don't know about the fiasco going on...until the video was released and people heard round 'Merica called it garbage. You know what's going to happen? They are going to remember what they saw, and since what they saw wasn't good they are going to steer clear of it.

The reason OS (as a whole in the basketball forums) is asking for more video is to see if thier is any improvement that might warrant a purchase. They want to believe...but EA isn't giving them any hope. The casual fan has already given up on this game.

I disagre, Bad press can be indirectly be good press. Look at the footage we got it was awful but guess what that thread has a lot of comments hence their is still very much interest in this series. I would be an idiot to say that the footage was good but it also reminded me of the game rather then forgetting it completely. I am just patient and optimistic I was a HUGE fan of NBA Live 10 and still play it with BiggD's rosters so I will hope for the best.

I believe that in some instances that's true, but people are still posting about this game so it's obvious that people are still interested. If they had not "leaked" anything I doubt their would be that much action on this forum. Because once the demo comes out I BET the NBA Live thread will have more comments then the 2K one because people STILL care about it and want live to become a good game.

This franchise hasn't made EA money in 3 years. I'm pretty sure the board of directors won't green light another development cycle. Especially when 2K is so far ahead. At this point it will be shelved.

Okay so Madden came out yesterday. I was under the impression that EA was waiting for Madden to release to start talking about Live. Should we expect tomorrow or Friday or Saturday for info?

BUT, after Elite people are still talking about this game. After EA, screwed us over people STILL talk about this game. People in THIS THREAD were talking about how their marketing strategies do not work but guess what they have you wondering about the game and STILL posting about this game for almost 3 YEARS. You have been posting around here about how EA has dropped the ball and how people blindly defend them while I will agree with that they have no excuse I do DISAGREE that their marketing strategy dose not work because they have YOU, ME and everyone else in this forum TALKING about this game at least.

That would be true if the Bad Press was based off the actual gameplay and official info, but since most of the press is just speculation and rumors the bad press is working in EA's favor (IMO).

In a sense the NBA Live rumor mill is similar to the Social Media and Gossip, because nothings based off fact but speculation. Everyone has their opinion of EA's situation but no one really know's for certain what's going on.

Is it pre-alpha or no? Is this another Elite? Will EA ever announce gameplay? Will Live's bad history prove true again? Is EA Hiding something? Is LeBron the Cover Athlete? Nothing is set in stone so all we can do is assume. This gives EA a chance to redeem themselves in the public eye by putting out a solid game when they actually do release official info. It will deflate all the negativity and actually help them.

If EA was to come out with an official and recent gameplay video and it was terrible then we could say that bad press can't help them.

That's not a good thing though.

Yesterday, I told my friends on Xbox (All 8 of them in the party) to go on youtube and check out NBA Live 13.

They thought it was a joke until I told them that's the real game. That's Live 13 in development.

They said it looked like ***.

Ever since then one of my friends has been getting every person on his friend's list to check out NBA Live 13 on youtube.

Needless to say those same sentiments have been echoed.

Which brings me back to my point. If your game gets the reputation of being a bad game....who's going to want to knowingly buy a bad game (Other than those that collect such things) when they hear praises being sung about the other? Think as if you were just a casual fan of basketball. Which game would you honestly pick and give a try before the other?
