Re: Official NBA Offseason/Player Movement Thread

Dear God, if the Lakers get Ron without losing Odom somehow, we may as well just fast-forward to the Championship parade and the big off-season everyone is waiting for.... christ.

Also, my Nuggets better do SOMETHING.. re-signing Bird then filling up the roster with minimum salary players does not count. We need to make a big splash and get a quality big off the bench or a good backup SF to replace Kleiza, who definitely seems to be on his way out. Seems like everyone is getting better by leaps and bounds... the worst part is that they were already good-to-great teams (speaking mostly about LAL, CLE, ORL, and SA).

To me it looks like the Lakers never really wanted Ariza back...Their target all along was Ron..

Not true at all. They wanted Ariza back, offered him a contract. His agent thought he was worth more. Cleveland gave him the same deal. So, its not like Lakers didnt want him back. You just cant sit back and wait. If you do that, someone is going to catch ya sleeping. You do your business asap. If it involved Ariza, great, if not. Then tough crap.

You just cant wait for someone to make up his mind, if he leaves then artest signs with someone else, then what? you lose out x2.

good addition. That will solidify the center position and make quite a difference imo. I hope Orlando doesnt match it. I doubt the Magic do match it considering it is the full MLE and especially because it is at 5 years....and I doubt Gortat would be flying to Dallas for a tour of the facilities and the city if Orlando was going to match it. I imagine the Magic would be making it clear.

Gortat/Dampier/Hollins is somewhat solid depth at C (at least more center depth than what Dallas has had)...and it allows Dallas to shop Dampier and his virtual expiring (final year loaded with incentives that he will never reach so it will become team option) with Stack's expiring for another piece.

Chris Broussard said he thinks Odom will eventually end up back with the Lakers for about $8 Mil a year since there really isn't a market out there for him to get his desired $10 Mil a year.

Marcin Gortat was scheduled to fly to Dallas on Thursday after giving the Mavericks a verbal commitment to sign an offer sheet with them next week, according to NBA front-office sources.
The Mavs will offer the full mid-level exception, which could translate to a five-year deal starting at roughly $5.6 million, in hopes of convincing the Orlando Magic not to match the offer.
I wonder who the Magic will get for a replacement......

NBA needs to forget this whole July 8th signing day thing. LOL. That day is usually boring, because as we can tell the first two days in July are insane.

If so then i would rather they use whatever alternative to resign the more useful Ariza.
