Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread

if he goes to MIA, "The Decision" is obviously LBJs way of telling everyone he's still the alpha dog.

I'm still saying Knicks. I also still think the Clippers make sense but they are apparently out of it.

Jared Dudley interview about his tweet. Very surprised to see a player so open about this sorta thing.

Cliff Notes: His source was not Amare, it was someone from inside the Knick organization (who he heard directly from) who said LeBron gave the Knicks a verbal agreement and that New York City, Amare and Curry's expiring are the biggest things. I may have mis-heard him (audio is f'd on my laptop) but I think he said they already started ordering the LeBron #6 Knicks jerseys.

Sidenote: Jared Dudley needs some bass in his voice.

It's alot of fun to grab a brew, kick back, and watch this kid on a nightly basis. Hopefully he'll win alot of games and get some hardware for you, but even if he doesn't you'll get to see some creative, fun, jaw-dropping basketball on most nights. Enjoy.
This. I've bought league pass for the last 6 years to pretty much watch every Cavs game. He's awesome to watch. I'll continue to watch him wherever he goes, just dreaming it will be NY.

Assuming this is true, then we can prepare for Carmelo, right?

          It only makes sense.

No way LeBron makes a decision to come to NY based on Curry's expiring contract unless the Knicks and LeBron's camp figured out how they will be players in 2011 for another star - one of LeBron's choosing. And can anyone doubt that LeBron would want to play with Anthony?

Considering that Carmelo hasn't followed in anyone's footsteps regarding his extension offer, me thinks he is waiting on LeBron's decision.

Of course, I say all this assuming this is all true.

What up H. As much as I clown Lebron (I am still bitter about the rookie of the year thing)I am of the opinion that Lebron should stay in Cleveland. He his a native son that could be the first to bring them a championship. If he truly wants to be King, earn it, take on the challenge and get done in Cleveland. Contrary to popular belief he has the team and the coach to do it, he does not have to leave.

I am a Knick fan, and I sincerely hope that he stays in Clvnd. Fans like you deserve his effort to make it happen there. If he stays I would respect him a great deal.

Lebron isn't my favorite player in the league, to be candid. I think he's too self entitled, and I'd rather not see my city feeding into that. Sure, there are plenty of arrogant athletes, but I think we can all agree that this guy is like the Jedi Master of Athletic Arrogance. People think that because he's a good passer, he's unselfish. ::Charlie Murphy voice:: Wrong! Wrong!

He's very self absorbed, and I don't think it all ties back into winning. I think he wants to win. I even think he wants to win badly, but I think the game came too easily for him to really understand the sacrifices necessary to beat other grown men that are near his talent level and win a championship. It's always a tragedy in sports when young men's talent is so incredible that they win before they learn. At this point in his career, 7 years, no rings and still trying to pull the title of bestest most importantest player from a stubborn, dusty Kobe Bryant, the seeds of learning have been planted, and that makes it a little better.

That having been said, he's not the worst person in the world. He didn't scoff at a fellow player's injury, run screaming from Jared Jeffries during a fight, or sleep with his teammate's mother. He does care about kids and charities and enjoying the game with his teammates. I even like his ambition. I like that this athletically gifted poor kid from a small city has set out to conquer Earth. I honestly think that's cool.

But I need him to grow the **** up before I can enjoy it.
I may be a little over the top like A.W. but this is the greatest post I've ever read on this board. And I've been here since 2002. Well said.

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread

If Bron signs the Cavs will be about 5 mill over the cap if we waive Delonte and renounce Shaq, Z, Wally and Lorenzen Wright's holds. We'll only have the midlevel and bi-annual, plus about 7-8 mill in expiring deals. We'll have the 61-win Cavalier team, with a better coach (hopefully) and an upgrade at center (S+T for Haywood possibly). Eyenga may also be ready for the team. Not as bad as folks make it out to be, but still no fellow superstars.

If he does leave, (and we still waive renounce the above mentioned) that leaves the Cavs about 12 mill under the cap, plus the MLE and BIA which would leave us with a nice 19 or so of cap. Unfortunately, no one wants to play in CLE, so that capspace is largely moot, lol. If this were LA, we could probably get 2-3 great players with that.

I really hope the Cavs don't make the mistake of panicking if Bron leaves, and try to hold it together like they did post-Price/Dougherty/Nance years where Terrel Brandon and a bunch of mediocre players were the 7-8 seed every year for half a decade. They will have tons of room for a lopsided trade for a contract, and I can just see the Cavs doing something stupid like taking a flyer on something pathetic like Gilbert and Yi.

What up H. As much as I clown Lebron (I am still bitter about the rookie of the year thing)I am of the opinion that Lebron should stay in Cleveland. Agree. I think he may relish that challenge. We'll see.

First off, maxes being lowered is one of the top priorities of the owners with the next CBA and every agent and player knows it - I have no idea how Melo can turn down that extension from Denver. He could cost himself millions.

There have been "solid sources" (cough, bull****) that said Melo was open with his inner circle and Amare about his strong desire to play for the Knicks ever since Amare signed.

I 100% cannot believe that LBJ would chose the Knicks based on Melo telling him he'd definitely go there next summer. It just doesn't make sense. What if Denver pulls of some ridiculous trade and lands a star to play with him in Denver? What if the finances don't work out? There are way, way too many variables for me to buy that "Melo-to-the-Knicks-in-2011" is the reason LeBron is going to chose the Knicks. Or that it's even a possibility at this point.

I also don't know what LBJ & Amare's first year salary would be, I don't know if they'll be backloaded or the same every year.

Looking at the best possible scenario (and I don't even know that this is possible w. the salary)...

                          Amare: $15m
                          LeBron: $15m
                          Gallo: $4m
                          Chandler: $3m
                          Douglas: $1m
                          Walker: $1m

That puts them at $39m after Curry's deal expires and not counting the scrubs they'd sign this summer, presumably to 1-year deals. Cap holds and other BS aside, they should have upwards of $20m in space and no problem affording Carmelo IF he doesn't sign the extension. If LBJ and Amare are making $17m each next year then things might get tricky and they'd be on the edge of offering Melo a max - I think.
