I wonder how Tyreke Evans will fit with Jimmer. Both need the ball a ton. This is a weird set up.

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
How would I be a terrible GM?
Because I wouldn't be stupid enough trade away my top scorer and defender and the #19 pick, only to get a guy with literally no offensive game at #7?
Or because I wouldn't be ignorant enough to take another undersized front court player with almost the exact same attributes as someone I already have on my team?
You're right. I couldn't hack it.
And how were the Bulls lucky. Yea we sucked, but when you lose 2 of the Top 50 players of all time, that's probably going to happen. We rebuilt by actually making smart trades and getting value out of our lottery picks sans Eddy Curry. Jay Williams doesn't count. The Bulls have one of the best front offices in the league, not sure I would call that luck.
What's the point of constantly going to the playoffs if you lose in the first round? With the team the Bobcats had last year pre Gerald Wallace trade, they would have made it to the playoffs, and would have been swept by either Chicago or Miami, just like the year before.
Charlotte wants sustained success, and well with the pieces we had (Stephen ****ing Jackson was our best player), that wasn't going to happen.Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Oh I'm actually warming up to the idea of Thompson, I just think we could have traded down a few spots to get him. I think they could have got a D-League guy like Hansborough though instead of a guy we'll never see.
Overall I give us a B. Not a great draft but with the picks we had in this scrap heap I think we did already considering JVal's buyout. Still think we should have gone Vesely though but whatev's.After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Tristan Thompson was definitely a reach, but here's the thing. This draft was paper thin. It's not like they passed on anyone who was that much more appealing than Tristan. JJ already has one foot out the door, it's just a matter of time before the team fully pushes him out.
I don't know if Tristan can be a top of the line starter in the league, but as long as he has the work ethic (which I think he does), then he has a chance. I like his potential.
Seriously though, I know what you mean. I don't think they're in a position to wait a year on Valanciunas and they need defensive bigs. I'm sure Casey is oh so happy about the team drafting ANOTHER Euro.
Also the Bargnani thing you mentioned (how they said they weren't trading him) is just...SMH. The guy said himself he doesn't really want to be there.
Also disagree about the Bobcats. Who the hell knows what Biyombo will be. I won't bother trying to play the guessing game. For their sake I hope he turns out well.
Kemba on the other hand was a good pick IMO. After trading the heart of their team in Gerald Wallace, who was going to be the selling point of the team? Gerald Henderson? Tyrus Thomas? Come on now. And any lack of size or whatever Kemba has, he makes up for big time in heart and work ethic. Look how much the guy improved from when he was coming off the bench on that Price, Thabeet, etc. UConn team to being a top scorer in college, being clutch as hell and winning a National Championship.
Can we get an over/under on when the first in-house fight goes down? Training camp? 2nd preseason game?Last edited by BlueNGold; 06-24-2011, 11:35 AM.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

LMAO @ Tank Commander Maggette.

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Yes offensively Tristan is awful. All of his offense comes off of offensive rebounds. I don't know I think if he just develops some kind of low post game I think he's going to be a solid player. Not worth the 4th pick though imo.Comment

Thompson is also great at picking and rolling to the basket. Just saying, he's not that bad. He's got good touch around the rim and is athletic as hell.Too Old To Game Club

Oh I'm not doubting his athleticism at all. He actually performed better than DWill in some combine drills. I just want to see him get a couple of moves in the paint.Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Because it tells me you accept mediocricy. Plus, this draft wasnt done by Jordan, this was done by Rich Cho. Charlotte has a plan for once, we got the Tank Commander Maggette to guarantee high pick in the draft. We got 2 projects, which for a losing team next year, won't be bad.

And what do high picks mean when you continue to waste them? Apparently the plan is just to be in the lottery every year and hopefully strike gold one time. But, with their apparent total lack of talent evaluation and value, they're going to be digging for a while.
But I digress. I guess being a Bobcat fan, you become accustomed to accepting failure as some sort of success.Comment

Apparently it tells me you do, if you're satisfied with what the Bobcats did in the draft.

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Watch the next few years when Biyombo is out of the league, and Kemba is playing with all the other tweeners in the D-League.
Don't worry tho, I hear Sean May is going to make a comeback.Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
I don't know where you're getting that with Kemba and Biyombo. What are you basing that assumption off of 1Rose?
Kemba will be one of the best picks in this draft, and in a weak draft, getting a tough athletic big man for defensive purposes, I call that a big time win.
I know to each their own, but I don't see this as a fail at all. Granted, Biyombo probably didn't need to be picked that early, but if they didn't pick him then, he probably would have been taken soon thereafter. So if they wanted him, sometimes you make unorthodox selections.
I don't see this as a lose-type situation at all though. Kemba will be a stud. I would have went Williams at 1 and Kemba at 4 if I were the Cavs.Twitter - WTF_OS
