Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread

Regarding Chandler Parsons, he says he can play point when a team needs him too. Is he really a good ball handler? I don't remember that being a part of his game when I saw him on TV. I was just always impressed the way he was able to read shots and get in the position for put backs, his passing, and his ability to stretch the floor.

Regarding Selby, he looks like a good scorer, but the one thing I noticed is that a lot of times in that video, he would make a move and get a great look at the hoop but would then take another dribble or two before settling for a worse shot (that he made anyway). And something about his voice bugs me lol.

Well Kanter says he has post-moves like Pau Gasol, a jumpshot like Dirk, and strength/toughness like Dwight Howard so....

It amazes me man. The team desperately needs defensive/rebounding help and they're enamored with a jump shooter.

I REALLY hope it's just smoke & mirrors on Donnie Walsh's part.

I thought I had heard that Donnie Walsh stepped down. What happened with him? lol

He's got responsibility through this draft and June 30th he'll go into a consultant role for the '11/12 season.

            Basically shafted by Dolan.

I wouldn't mind this at all. I believe the Wizards (#6) are high on Kanter and if the Cavs make them believe we take Kanter at #4 we can probably come out with 2 players out of 1. I like Jonas Valanciunas and would love to take him at #6. Cavs could trade the #4 to the Wizards for the #6 and possibly another asset like the #18 pick or Crawford. It could be quite a gamble considering the Raptors sit at #5 and could possibly take Kemba, Vesely, or even Jonas V. I'm not too high on Vesely myself, but I think this trade has tons of upside to it. Jordan Crawford has shown he can play at the end of last season or if we come out with Marshon Brooks at 18 that would be great. If we came out of the draft with Irving, Brooks/Crawford, Jonas V, 2nd rounders, I'd say it was a great draft.

If Brooks isn't there hopefully players like Burks or singleton would still be there.

If the Cavs say they want to trade their #4 pick to the Wizards for the #4 pick, that's basically telling the Wizards they can have Kanter, so there would be no point in the Wizards doing that even if they were high on Kanter. I heard they're high on Vesely though.

I didn't say the Cavs would come to the Wizards for the trade. Cavs pretty much have control of how the draft will turn out. Teams have to go to the Cavs. If the Wizards are really worried that Cavs will take Kanter at #4, they may try to move up in the draft to take the guy they want. There's a bunch of smoke going around so no one will know what goes down til draft night.

I really would like to see the Nets trade up to get Kenneth Faried (or even slimmer chance, Brooks) but the assets aren't the Nets trick someone into taking on OutLoL. Not sure who would be left of quality that late in the first to draft.

You could probably scratch the top 3 off of that board as those guys will be gone, or at least the top 2 there for sure. After that it's a crap shoot.

Knicks considering trading the 17th pick to acquire a PG

As reported yesterday, the Knicks, if the right guys don't fall, have considered trading No. 17 if they can get a veteran guard, with Cleveland point guard Ramon Sessions a possibility.
Meanwhile, Knicks officials said Kansas point guard Josh Selby and USC's 6-foot-10 forward Nikola Vucevic are being brought in today for a second workout, as they are heavy on the radar.
Also returning are Michigan point guard Darius Morris, Providence shooting guard Marshon Brooks and center Jeremy Tyler, who professionally played last season in Japan.
It is believed they would be considered if the Knicks can get a late first-rounder or early second-round pick. Walsh is looking to add at least one more pick.

I've been seeing there leaning on Jonas Valanciunas for the #4th pick. Haven't heard much about trading down.

But what's your guys thoughts on him, don't know much about him?

Jonas played well in the european leagues, but as of now he is definitely much weaker than the typical NBA player. He still has plenty of time to add on some muscle though. He's lengthy, solid rebounder, runs the floor well, and of course has a soft touch to go with great free throw numbers. He's also very active on both ends of the floor, but I think his main weaknesses are pretty much an awful post game, tendency to foul alot, and of course defending bigger opponents. He'll need to bought out of his current contract too.
