Agree with ex about the Bulls. They should be going after a vet 2 guard IMO. I don't see any of these rookies that really jump out as a lock to be a starter, much less on a championship contender.

^^^ I would love to see Williams in Phoenix!

He could learn defense from Hill and would be great in the open court.

Wow, I think that's a decent deal for both sides.

LoL are you kidding. This is the best Minny could do? I'm stunned if this is true.

Meh. It looks like Faried is moving up the board fast and he won't be there when the Nets pick. Also, not a fan of the Nolan Smith pick. I can see the logic but there are better needs than pg

A lot of draft mocks have the Mavs taking Justin Harper. LOVE that pick if they can grab him that late. He's a little undersized at 6'9", but he is a solid post player on both ends of the court and he's athletic. I remember watching him the past couple years in the tournament for Richmond and he really impressed me.

Is that the best the Wolves can do for the 2 pick? Seriously? Gortat and a latter pick?

I'm sorry, if that happens... what on earth. Congrats to Phoenix if it happens.

I don't know what Gortat means by that, and no other sites are reporting any trade.

Also, Minny was already saying they are willing to trade their pick for their pick, so it doesn't surprise me. Gortat is a solid center and still young. The draft is kinda weak for star power anyway, so the #2 pick isn't as valuable as it could be.

To me nobody has star written on them, but I do see a ton of potential rotation role players who could stick around for a long time. Williams being one of them.

Plus if Minny got the 13th pick, that'd be pretty good.

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread

I had an outside shot of seeing Williams workout today, but my boss took his son instead. No biggie though...workout was private. Did get some good info, though niothing groundbreaking.

Kanter is coming back because his agent is afraid that if he gets past four, he could really slide. Supposedly the Cavs gave him a really physical work out and focused on D, and his agent wanted to get him in here again to show what he can do offensively. They feel they didn't get to show off his strengths.

Vesely is shooting up the draft. Some respected scouts are saying he's the fututre of the league...6'10 to 7'0 perimeter atheletes like Durant and next years Perry Jones are going to be the NBA flavor of the month for a few years. Think KG and Dirk with T-Mack skillsets. Given his production in the Euro league, Veselsy's really getting hot. Rumors that the Wiz LOVE him, and may go after the two pick to get him.

Most interesting for cavs fans...Gilbert really wants Williams. His on the court potential aside, he and his agent are really motivated to be "Lebron" for the organization and fanbase. Williams supposedly *really* wants to be that cornerstone guy for a franchise, whereas Irvings interviews came off less enthusiastic. This is important to Gilbert. DG will not interfere with the basketball guys, and they all like Irving, but the Cavs are doing everything in their power to get both.

OSU: Valciunas only measured out at 6'10", and is projected to be a PF/C in the mold of Okur. My boss told me the Cavs are much higher on Vesely than he.

If the Cavs take Vesely over Jonas....i'm not going to be a happy man.

That will be Marvin Williams pt II for Chris Grant.

Just do what they need to do and get Derrick Williams and call it a day.

One other tidbit I got, Jimmer is KILLING in workouts and suprised alot of scouts with his defensive ability. UTA wants him badly, but he won't make it to the Jazz at 12, which will factor into their thinking with the 3.

Marvin Williams doesn't play with any fire, didn't do much in college, and isn't 6-11.

Jonas hasn't done anything, and is smaller than advertised. His claim to fame is dominating the under 18 circuit. What do you see in him?

If I remember right, his efficiency in the pick and roll game is incredible (if I remember right). I think I remember them basically comparing him to Amare Stoudamire but obviously not as athletic.

I like his touch around the basket, his toughness around the basket, his defense, and his ability to shoot free throws. And his size.

Whether he is 6-10 or not is irrelevant to me. The same with Vesely. I want a good player, a player with a lot of upside. I see that in Jonas. Not sure I see that in Vesely.
