Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Milwaukee fans are talking about reaching for him with our pick... I'd rather take Burks personally, but Brooks certainly looks like he can score.NFL: Bills
NBA: Bucks

Terps is obvious... but I've been a Heels fan since I first saw them and play and met JR Reid (very random, I know). I liked everything about them from the colors, to Dean Smith, to Kenny Smith, to Jeff Lebo, etc. Even came close to going to school there even though it would've killed any chance of playing ball in college. I was even a big Hornets fan when they were formed just bc they were in Carolina.Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
I think waste of time is a little harsh, keep in mind he's been playing ball less than 3 years, and his offense was never touted as a strength but a large drawback, once he starts working with NBA coaches I expect that his offense will round out at least to some degree.
Sure he might be a bust but that could be said for 90% of the players in this draft so he's as good a long shot as any outside of the top 5 or 6 guys.
I hope the Cavs take Irving and Vesely as I think they would compliment each other nicely and they have Hickson to do the dirty work. Let JV streak out on the break and catch lobs from Irving where he can do some real damage.Last edited by Jonesy; 06-13-2011, 06:23 PM.Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
from what i heard... he's 6'5 witha 7'1 wingspan. i bet he turns into a good defender too. especially if he's got thibs teaching him. i'm probably just being overly optimisticComment

What I like about Burks is that he's a good free throw shooter, seems to be a better finisher around the rim with both hands, and seems to be a better playmaker as well.NFL: Bills

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Exactly. If they did a workout like that with Ben Wallace at the height of his game he'd probably have looked even worse than Bismack in that clip. If anyone drafts that kid for offense they are crazy but he has that Ben Wallace / Serge Ibaka body and game that would be worth a 7-15 pick in such a weak draft if that's what your team needs imo.

But Wallace had a proven college career in America. He also went undrafted.
Of course the point that this is a weak draft, you couldn't really hate too much on selecting Bismack in the lottery. I don't know though, he seems too unknown for my likings.
Even though this draft is "weak" I see a lot of rotation players that could stick around for years. So I would just like to see more Bismack footage in real games. But you're right, in drills and workouts he's gonna look sloppy.Comment

1. I totally get what your point is, and I do agree somewhat...

I guess like any draft they'll have to decide between a more known player and a long term project like Bismack but only this year more than most it's going to be happening in the lottery and not in the 2nd round because of the lack of potential superstar's coming out. I'd personally be more inclined to take Kenneth Faried if you wanted a Ben Wallace type because at least the kid has rebounded at an elite level in college but teams love drafting on potential and there's almost an anti-euro or anti-soft preference going on now which raises a player like Bismack even higher than perhaps he normally would be.
On Bill Simmons podcast they were saying how this year could be like 2006 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_NBA_Draft#Draft) with a pretty weak draft overall but a couple of solid guys near the top (Aldridge, Roy, Gay etc) then a few diamonds in the rough hidden further down (Rondo, Millsap) which i thought was probably a pretty good comparison though this year might be even weaker imo.Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
I've done a horrible job of keeping up with college basketball and the draft lately. NBADraft.net has the Mavs drafting Justin Harper from Richmond and Gary Flowers from SoMiss. Are those reasonable?NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
NBA: Dallas Mavericks
MLB: Texas Rangers
NHL: Dallas Stars
