Especially since Irving and Williams have both declared and are in the process of hiring agents.

If Irving and Rivers were in the backcourt no other player on the team would get a chance to shoot

I hope jones and knight return.Teague at the point and knight at the 2 could be a handful along with lamb and liggins.I think knight needs to develop more of a nba body and learn to handle the ball a little better under big pressure. The kid can shoot the lights out though and create space off the driible easily with his quickness but again when he gets under tight in your jersey pressure he struggles from lack of strength.

Jones has come along and i think he will be drafted on the same skills as Derrick williams. He's to quick for bigs but unlike D Will what he lacks is a nice post game. The kid looks uncomftorable with his back to the basket and though he's developed a better hook shot workin with coach payne i dont think he could do much damage right now with his back to the basket.Jumpshot is same way he has a very weird shot where he brings the ball across his body to face at an angle but he can make it.Sky high potential though and is a monster shot blocker. But yeah i think both these guys could benefit from another year.

All the guys you guys are talking about should return but I doubt many of them will when they can be lottery picks and get that guaranteed money.

I wonder if the potential lockout will affect there decision to come out now or wait a year?

It's definitely weighing on their decisions. If the lockout happens then they get no money. The higher picks could get the money from an agent but then would have to pay it back with interest. Not to mention all the expenses needed to pay just to stay in shape for the year and get better without being able to do it with the team and coach.

I guess some guys say "screw it" or some of them just need the money for their family and are willing to sacrifice the interest. Can't say I blame them in those situations.

Yea I wouldn't enter the draft with the current CBA situation unless I was projected in the top 5-8 pick.

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread

Well I can see why Irving and Williams both entered because of the potential endorsement money they could receive by being the top two picks. Irving can probably bank on getting some kind of shoe deal and Williams will probably get a smaller one as well(something from nike just to wear them). That would be the only way I would enter this draft If I knew that I had some endorsement dollars heading my way.

But if I were an NBA GM and didn't get the top two picks, I would be trading away this years picks for next years because that draft is looking to be loaded if everybody else returns to school.

Thats what I really mean. Those guys are basically projected on average as the top 3 picks on all the sites. These guys are clearly the 2 most talented in the draft. But now that they are in. I wonder who will get the first pick. What if a team with a point guard gets the first pick. Does Kryie drop to number 2-3 pick?

I had that argument at the shop with a few people who said Irving would go #1 regardless. I tried to tell them not if the Wiz get the first pick or the Nets. Then Williams goes one and we still have to see if whoever has the #2 or #3 pick already has a PG.

If Tor, Cle or Sac gets the top pick then it's Irving but what if the Wiz(Wall), Nets(Williams) or Minn(Flynn and the rights to ricky rubio) get the top three picks?

Don't forget about Kanter. He is likely the most pro ready of anyone and the wizards have an interest. He may not go #1, but he has the potential and if the wizards win the lottery, don't be surprised if they choose him.

I could see that as well but can kanter play the 4? They already have McGee at C. Plus Blatche, Lewis and Yi already there. There lack of any true wing man is why I suggested Williams, even though he may be more of a PF than a SF.

One thing we all can agree on is that this years draft will be really interesting.

I just hope he's there at 27 or so for the Nets to pick up in the first. His strengths are the Nets weakness....for going on oh about 10 years now.
