    Re: 2020 Offseason Thread

Phoenix was a better team with Bridges and Cam starting at the end of last year. CP3 would be an upgrade over Rubio.

I’m sure OKC is gunning for that 10th pick in this trade, but Phoenix could still use another player or two and that’s a decent spot for them if someone like Toppin were to drop.

I think Kuz is an excellent fit for them, but I don’t see anybody on OKC or Phoenix’s roster that would make a reasonable return for LAL other than Schroder.

Perhaps Phoenix would be willing to part with 10 if it meant they got Kuz as a throw in, and perhaps OKC would be willing to include Schroder if it meant they got pick 10 rather than a future first or multiple 2nds.

No idea where any 3 of the teams interest level with that would be, but I’ve thought Kuz made a good fit with Phoenix back when “rumors” popped up last year that they wanted Lonzo. Watching Cam do so well for them at the end of this year, Kuz is slightly more athletic and a better defender after his improvement this year, I think he would be an ideal stretch 4 for them moving Cam to 6th man role.

Addition of CP3 makes it even better, I think Kuz could develop into that Tobias Harris like role on that team playing with Chris Paul.

I like the fit of CP3 on the suns, but I'm not going to give up the 10th pick for him. I'm not sure I would even give up a 1st at all atleast not right away.

Although they say they're still "All In", if I were the Rockets ownership I would tear it down and do a total rebuild letting the new coach and GM remake the team in their image. Even someone like Silas, who has paid his dues big time, and seems to be greatly respected around the league, is going to have an extremely difficult task in dealing with Harden and Westbrook, IMO

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Sources: The Timberwolves are attempting to acquire a second lottery pick. They’ve had talks with the Hawks for #6. A possible deal could include Jarrett Culver and #17.

A number of teams are interested in Atlanta’s #6 pick—the Pelicans and Celtics being among them, sources say.

noted, several teams are talking trades with Atlanta for #6. Something I have heard is that the Hawks are ok with moving back and potentially clearing a bit more salary cap space. Atlanta is looking to add veterans this offseason to bolster their young core.

This draft is a ****-show between the COVID mess and the prospects being historically weak to where it seems no one even wants to be in the top 5, lol

"The Hawks have emerged as a potential trade destination for New Orleans' Jrue Holiday in multi-team trade scenarios that would involve Atlanta's No. 6 pick in next week's draft, league sources say
Any team trading for Holiday, of course, has to be cognizant of his contractual situation, with the Pelicans' guard -- regarded as one of the league's foremost two-way players -- expected to decline his $27 million option for 2021-22 and become a free agent after this season"

Well the 20 minutes I had of thinking the hawks would do the smart thing was fun while it lasted.

Makes sense to me.. We've had a big run of great drafts the last few years, this one is likely down in comparison. A lot of bad teams have really good young pieces already on their roster. I fully expected teams like Chicago, Atlanta, New York, Phoenix, to all explore trading their picks to move up, down, or for an already established player. There is nobody available at spots in these drafts that is a clear upgrade for them.

Hard for me to get excited about CP3 in Phoenix in 2020 but it's also refreshing to be in the conversation of trying to win which has been a foreign concept pretty much since 2010.

Ehhh idk. The problem is everyone's perception of value for a lottery pick is going to vary, especially in a draft like this where nobody really knows what to expect. And on top of that it seems like a weaker draft regardless. I see lots of people saying "but I wouldn't trade a top so and so pick for him" but it's not really that simple.

In my eyes, nobody at number 10 is starting for the Suns. If they were to return their entire roster nobody is even going to likely crack their top 8 or so rotation players even. So if you're comfortable in making a trade for Chris Paul what is the hold up with including your 10th man on your roster to get him? Especially if it landed them Kuzma too in the hypothetical I made up.

Phoenix is not rebuilding, they are trying to make a playoff push. They would have their other 4 starters, upgrade the starting guard to CP3, have a great shot at making the playoffs but the big win here is if this trade helps them win it also likely helps them keep Booker... Which in this draft is easily worth the 10th pick it's likely worth the 1st pick even.

Who knows what else Phoenix could potentially get out of this deal if they did agree to include that pick. The Kuz-Schroder thing was just one example, but Schroder and Adams both highly tradable with OKC going rebuild and plenty of teams would want both of those guys. Phoenix could likely get back good value by facilitating them to other teams by giving up their 10th pick in this years draft that likely doesn't help them in their playoff push anyways.

I just think there is a lot more to it than trading a top 10 pick for a 35 year old.

Yea that's a good point as Rubio, Oubre + 10th pick is a nice package so they should be able to get more then just Chris Paul if they can get the salary to match up.

Nothing new for Raptors fans to hear. Fans just undecided on if they'd rather sign FVV to the big deal he wants, or let him go and in 21/22 season be starting with a mostly clean slate since Siakam and OG might be some of the only guys left from the championship team.
