Report coming out saying DeRozan is unhappy in SA and wants out.

        DeRozan denied that report.

I guess we'll only know based on his decision with his PO.

He's been okay on the Spurs, clearly was never going to live up to Kawhi's output or impact, but he's miscast & out - of - position on the Spurs. He's also in the way of too many guards/swing men that need playing time to improve (Walker IV, Johnson, Murray & White).

I'd be fine with moving him for a late - 1st & salary filler at this point. Him, Belinelli & Forbes leaving would be a huge plus to the team overall.

And no way will he opt - out & give up $27.7 million in an unstable cap situation & NBA economy. Opt - in, hopefully find a suitor that can match salary (with minimal long - term money) & obtain another extra draft pick like last season is the move (hopefully).

Detroit, Milwaukee, Toroto, Orlando, Sacramento (if they lose either Hield or Bogdanovic), and maybe a few other teams (can't think of more on the fly) could use a playmaking, shot creator. He'll need to start shooting three's again at a passable clip (33% - 35%) at a solid volume, but he still has plenty left as a scorer while his defense will always be an issue (can be limited on the right roster).

            Re: 2020 Offseason Thread

As for the DeRozan Lakers talk mentioned before I actually don’t think he’s a bad fit like most were saying. Sure he doesn’t stretch the floor and hit threes, or lock people up on defense, but he’s got a good midrange shot, gets to the rim, can do something other than just catch and shoot with the ball, good in the open court, etc..

Danny Green shot 34% in the playoffs from deep, 28% in the finals, but with that he also didn’t even take many other shots, he was also 34% from the field overall and DeRozan can hit threes at a rate at least close to him while upping that overall percentage to say 50 because he will get to the rim, hit the pull up, run the floor with Caruso, Bron..

He also gives them a guy who can score in isolation, can score when LeBron sits, can also operate the pick and roll with AD because he’s a solid passer at this stage in his career and attacks so hard off the ball screen that they can choose to stick to AD..

Does that mean I think they should try to get him at his contract.. yes and no. He only has a year left and that fits the Lakers other timeline wit their contracts and whatever move they plan to make going forward. So if they missed on a big fish he isn’t a horrible last resort option. The bigger dollar amount on his price tag would also make him easier to trade for that true “3rd Star” if they decided to.. assuming they still had trade chips like this years pick, THT, Kuz, 2027 first, etc.

Lakers would be better off, IMO at least, just running it back but trying to add a piece or two to fix weaknesses. But if they can add a shooter on the cheap, retain Dwight, Rondo, KCP, and then get DeRozan as basically late first plus cap, something like this years first, Green, Cook, JaVale, then I think it would be solid move for them if they’ve struck out on everything else.. Or if Pop were to love KCP and would basically make that trade straight across with a sign and trade, sure. He’s a substantially better fit than someone like D Rose who’s wanted from some for isolation scoring and non shooting.

Regardless I’m going to assume he’s nowhere near being on their radar. I don’t see them sacrificing even an inch of defense unless they are adding a player who truly fits every other need that they have. And I don’t think there is anybody on the Lakers roster that would move the needle for Pop either.. he liked Kuzma at Team USA, but the Lakers most likely aren’t trading picks, starter, cap filler, and Kuzma just to get back DeRozan either.

I think the market for Derozan will be better then many people are expecting for the reasons that OJ said. He can score, expiring contract, veteran and as far as I know a quality locker room guy.

SA should be willing to take back longer term $ for both him and Aldridge.

OJ is gonna link every player to the Lakers somehow, thru trade or FA sheesh lol

I'm not sure if I've said it here, but the player I really want the hawks to trade for that's rumored to be on the market is Lonzo Ball. I don't think his trade value will be super high as he is entering a contract year. He can defend, play the backup PG and also play alongside Trae. A future 1st and Dedmon should be enough to enter the conversation

I’m not the one who linked him to the Lakers, that was pages back.

Pretty much every "rumor" I see online right now is who the Lakers are getting or if Beal will get traded anyways lol.

Off-Seasons are always going to be wild with LeBron in LAL. Every off-season is dominated by LeBron's teams, and the Lakers free agency even when the Lakers sucked.. Now the two are together for ultimate rumor mill mayhem lol.

Just wait till next year when they have more cap space and the FA class is stacked

He’s a rumor that makes me want jump off a bridge. According to Evan Dammarell of Forbes, the Celtics are closely monitoring “uncomfortable” contract talks between Andre Drummond and the Cavs.

I believe the rumor to be complete bull****. If true however, Danny Ainge should be sent out to pasture.

I don't see how they would get him as surely he would opt in to his contract. I don't think Cleveland would buy him out before the season even starts.
