Re: NBA Draft 2021
These teams must really feel like Cade is a lock to be a future HOFer. He might be, but man it’s too early to tell IMO. What if his shooting doesn’t translate and he’s Evan Turner TyReke Evans type. Or he’s 2x sped up Kyle Anderson.
I’ve seen Luka, Roy, Penny, Hill comparisons and I just don’t quite see the natural scoring ability and instincts of those guys. And he’s not some otherworldly athlete like Grant, Penny, maybe even as athletic as Roy either.
And he doesn’t just feel like a lead all time ball in hand player who can buoy an offense with scoring and playmaking. I feel like he’ll naturally be more of a wing who gives supplemental playmaking than some full time point forward from the mold of Luka or Bron.
There's been enough noise about Cade's disappointing athleticism and court vision. He had plenty of trouble getting past smaller, quicker guards. We'll see how he looks in an NBA system though. He's going to look massive on an NBA court next year; one of those prospects whose size doesn't really hit you in college and then you see him next to NBA players. LaMelo is another example of this, kid looks massive out there next to other guards. OSU's offense and spacing was so, so bad. Cade with space to operate and NBA officiating is going to help him quite a bit."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: NBA Draft 2021
Apparently Warriors turned down 14 for 19+21, and from the sounds of it Duarte and maybe Trey Murphy could both go before us so I’d probably rather stay where we are and see who falls than move up at this point.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: NBA Draft 2021
The Indiana Pacers turned down a deal from the Lakers that would’ve sent Kyle Kuzma and the 22nd pick to Indiana for pick No. 13 and a salary filler, per @MikeAScotto
J.Michael of the Indy Star confirmed, apparently "filler" was TJ Warren.
"Rumor" is the Lakers want to move up to pick Duarte.Comment

Just the rumor that the Lakers want Duarte, might get him into the top 10 despite his age.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: NBA Draft 2021
The guy making this video sounds like a joke…
Regardless this dudes looks a bit more like a Bagley/JJJ hybrid than AD.

Re: NBA Draft 2021
And maybe it’s his camp leaking it too so he can get that pay bump. You never know this time of year. I assumed they wanted a higher pick as a trade chip myself.

NBA Draft 2021
Nothing he says is backed by anything that makes any sense from what guys like us would associate basketball “context” to. This might literally be the cream of the crop for absolute worse scouting video I’ve ever wasted my time watching.
He starts the very beginning of the video telling us that no other big man in the last decade has came into the league with as much perimeter skills as him… He’s not even that great on the perimeter, that big, nor can he shoot at a high level.. plus, uhh Giannis, Joker, AD literally played PG half his life, Bagley, etc? He later tried to justify this some more by showing A/TO ratio for a crop of bigs trying to justify his playmaking upside for a guy who gets 2 assists a game.. 2 assists, 2. He also mentions that his teammates basically suck, but doesn’t loop that back to the reason he might handle the ball a bit more than he should, and pass a bit more, than had he went to a top program that actually had functional guards. Not to mention he plays more minutes than literally every player he’s being compared against in these graphics so the numbers aren’t even comparable.
Then he spends the next few minutes talking about his defense and tells us the best way to see that is looking at his steals and blocks.. all the while being looped over him blocking 6 foot HS kids the whole time he’s talking. He also pulls a stat that ONLY compares him against big men drafted in the top 5 since 2011… not great defensive big men, not big men who went on to become great defenders in the league, only guys who were top 5 picks. He’s sticking him on a chart trying to label him as a clear cut all world defender with Cody Zeller, KAT, Joel Embiid who had played basketball for like 3 years. Jaren Jackson who only played like 20 minutes a game.. Hell Embiid didn’t even start every game, averaged like 20 minutes a night too. Literally all of Towns, Jackson, Embiid are WAY ahead of him on a per 40 basis. Mobley played like 34 minutes a night. Jackson would be a 6.6 per 40, Mobley 4.3, Jackson’s block% is almost double what Mobley posted this year. 14. Something vs 8. Something.
Then tries to say “look how he’s 2nd only to AD” even though AD basically doubles him [emoji23]. He’s closer and more comparable to literally every other player on his list than he is AD, and on a per minute basis he’s not even close to most of them. And again this only compares him to top 5 draft picks, so guys like Noel for example who was drafted 6th and would have posted a score of 6.5 in that graphic (higher than AD) is just left off because the graphic doesn’t actually attempt to compare him to all elite defenders like he’s trying to say it does.. only top 5 picks.
Then he REALLY starts grasping for straws when he says that having a bigger stronger brother to play against his whole life prepared him for the league. There can be some truth to that, but using that in a draft argument is silly yet he says that makes him like MJ and Giannis... He directly compares that to MJ and Larry, the latter of which was the older brother and Jordan gives tons of credit to making him a tough competitor.. but he’s 5’11.. Doesn’t really fit that bigger and stronger narrative [emoji23]. And then directly tries to say him playing against his brother is the same thing as Anthony Davis playing a guard most of his life. It just makes absolutely no ****ing sense.
And the icing on the cake is trying to say this guy is Draymond if he was 7ft, Jokic with elite defense, or AD if he was good enough to be a PG… like what the ****. This entire video comes off as some guy who 1.) really likes Mobley, 2.) watched a few highlights videos, 3.) has watched basically zero basketball outside of that lol. I’m actually mind blown that the ringer would even allow this trash to make their YouTube. Dead serious not even exaggerating.Last edited by ojandpizza; 07-28-2021, 10:39 AM.Comment
