    Re: 2020-21 Transaction Thread

Us keeping Harris makes a lot more sense than trading for Love. This goes beyond just a simple “Put Love on this team and bam!” that I already know most armchairs think.

He would fit on this team more if we had a defensive identity like the Lakers have but we don’t and scoring is something we already have enough of. We got 2-3 years to make this **** work and we’ve already given up a lot for Harden. I’m good chasing another big name. Hell, I already hate this 2Kification that the league is in where it’s a matter of most big names on one team and who can have the most drama instead figuring out who fits where, lol.

I think cavs are more likely to trade Drummond then Love. I think the mavs could be a player for a big name they have James Johnson expiring contract and Kleber to get them to like 30 million. The star studded fa is about gone now so I’m not sure who they could realistically expect to land.
If I'm the Mavs I trade every pick/swap I legally can along with Johnson, Hardaway, Kleber, to try and land Beal and Bertans.

I don’t think Washington is trading Beal however if their record doesn’t Improve then it might be the right call. If Jrue went for solid players plus all those 1st and draft swaps them Beal would land you probably even more then that.

The nets should be able to add another cheap bug like McGee or someone similar. If they are making a big move I would look for a wing that can play defense and doesn’t need the ball.

I agree, and I think the fit would be awful. I was just saying if there is any truth to the rumor that they want him there are ways to get it done.

I feel like the mention of Love to the Nets is pure 100% clickbait. Do even the most casual of the casuals think that he addresses the biggest needs in any way. As you say, this is completely 2Kish.

The Pelicans, viewed as a key team in NBA trade market, are receiving calls on Lonzo Ball and JJ Redick from interested teams and have shown openness to discussing both, per sources.

If I'm New Orleans I move on from Lonzo even if it appears from the outside that I'm getting ripped off. I know that some folks think that it's too early to make a judgement on the fit of their current team, but IMO they need to start crafting a cohesive roster for the future.

As I mentioned in the other thread they need to make a move about what’s best for Zion and Ingram. Every move they make so far is just whatever gives us the most assets without a long term plan. If you don’t want to pay him and don’t think he fits long term then go ahead and move him now.

They had a quality team last year also and didn’t do anything. I mean different group and coach still it was a quality roster.

They’re a young team and most of their key guys are going to need time to develop. It’s not exactly a roster that’s on the edge of competing just yet.

Miami rumored to be looking for a starting caliber forward.

Georgiafan I know he’s your guy, but if Collins really isn’t happy playing with Trae and there are concerns with if he even wants to be there at all how bad would something like Achiuwa, Nunn, a first round pick or two, and maybe Olynyk as salary filler for Collins, Rondo, and Goodwin/Fernando/Hill whichever to match money.

Obviously they would have to wait until Rondo could be traded, but Precious feels like an almost best case scenario return since other pieces wouldn’t be going out to salary match someone who’s not on a rookie scale deal. Nunn is still a good young guard, draft capital, not a bad deal IMO.

Precious probably fits Atlanta well too. Playing next to a more true big like Capela. He’s not a shooter like Collins, but a lot of similarities in the rest of their game. About 17 and 11 per 36 right now, I’d love to see him getting a few more minutes in a place like Atlanta.

Rondo feels like a no brainer for the Heat culture.

I don’t think Atlanta is trading Collins in general I think it’s mostly blown up by the media. Big picture why would you trade one of your elite players mid season when your trying to win games? The coach and GM will both be fired if Atlanta doesn’t make the playoffs they aren’t going to trade a proven guy for future picks and worst player.

From the $ side of things Atlanta is already out of cap space. So their is 0 incentives to not just pay him. Even if deep down you don’t want to pay him you just do and use his salary for another star in the future. Gallo can’t stay healthy and is 32 and next year is basically the final year of his deal. Him and Trae together on defense is a disaster while John is now a legit good defender. The rookie C has barley played and Hunter can’t play the 4 because he has to guard elite G’s to cover up for Trae. Cam has regressed so my point is John is needed more then people thought on this team that’s trying to win games.

John got off to of a slow start he is back at his normal pace currently 18/8 and shooting 42% from and like I said a good defender now. He could easily score more if it wasn’t for Trae so I get why John is probably mad.

I would turn down that deal Nunn doesn’t fit and needs paid. Rondo is a disaster so whatever it takes to get him off the team I’m for lol. Precious could be good, but I’ll hard pass on that one.

When is the last time a team traded a 20-10 type player before he hit FA on his rookie deal because they didn’t want to pay him? Only one I can think of is Porzongis.

You’re right, doesn’t happen often. I guess my thought was if he actually is unhappy does it make sense to trade him before you max him. I could see the benefit to both sides.
