Agree they're all snakes. But Haymon is the slimiest of all, and he's peddling a vastly inferior product than Arum or Oscar.

We can revisit this topic when the PBC is dead by the end of 2018, if not sooner.

In Haymon's case he had a lot more coal then diamonds, and I think he thought he could get away with it, and even get heavy support from fans for his brand. But recently even the good fighters (Garcia, Spence, A.Stevenson) were paired with fighters not even close to their level.

i'm still in disbelief about the thurman-garcia bout for free on CBS....

Oscar arrested for a DUI. What I find unusual about this situation is that Oscar has been drinking publicly on a regular basis in recent months, somewhat unusual for a celebrity who has gone through multiple rehabs. And of course he wanted to save money on a cab.

Not good, on a personal level for Oscar or a professional level for Golden Boy.

Golden Boy has more momentum than any boxing promotional company these days, especially after it signed a deal with ESPN to televise 10 to 15 shows per year on ESPN2. That focus on better business and matchups was concurrent with Oscar becoming more engaged in the company after rehab, stabilizing Golden Boy after the departure of Richard Schafer.

Now Oscar probably will enter rehab again, whether by intent or for PR purposes. And that will weaken Golden Boy as a company just when it was starting to emerge as the most progressive and dynamic of an admittedly motley collection of boxing promoters.

            Bummer.

I think if he goes to rehab everything with GoldenBoy gets back to normal for a while, but the dude obviously has problems. The fact that he has been seen drinking in public lately and no one of his family or support group could head him off at the pass is curious.

The problem with the future of GoldenBoy is if Oscar continues spiraling, this recent agreement with ESPN might be in danger. I say "might" because I don't know all the specifics, other then the option ESPN has for a third year. I doubt that De La Hoya was bound by any moral clause.

The inaugural of "Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN" pits rising boxer Jason Quigley against veteran Glen Tapia on March 23rd-that's not bad.

Fun, crossroads fight. Tapia needs to win to stay the slightest bit relevant, and Quigley needs a win to continue his rise as a decent prospect.

This is exactly the kind of fight that was so much fun to watch for 15 years of "Friday Night Fights" on ESPN. Golden Boy knows this, and that's why it's working to get these kinds of fights back on ESPN in a refreshing contrast to the crap that PBC continues to shovel at fans on a confusing array of networks.

I'm picking the Showtime card tonight, but nice to have options.

Wow. And as I typed that, absolutely brutal KO by Mikey Garcia. Always liked that kid. Was too bad he was out of the game for 2+ years, but good to see him back. Technically solid fighter.

One of the most brutal shots I've ever seen-The uppercut which first hurt Zlaticanin seemed like a powder punch by comparison. Mikey outclassed his opponent up to that point with masterful jab work.

I thought Santa Cruz won a little more comfortably then how the judges saw it, but a win's a win.

Great action fight. Wouldn't mind a third fight. Cruz made some great adjustments with the jab work. Also a more calculated attack instead of just firing non stop shots and leaving himself exposed to get hit

busy weekend for Boxing. Brandon Cook (18-0 11ko's) a Super-Welterweight that fights on my shows quite often, went to Montreal to take on Steven Butler (18-0 15ko's) and was a 9-1 underdog (no reason other than local hype for the montrealer) Brandon got the stoppage beating this kid up, but afterwards was hit in the head with a bucket AND pushed down by Butler almost simultaneosly. The father of Butler also stepped over him and previous to that was screaming at the Ontario promoter who was ringside. Also numerous fights in the stands broke out, pretty much an insane atmosphere. That story is shown here first in the link, after the main it's just other fights before.

I'm doing another show in February, Brandon won't be fighting, but I may interview him because it was just so crazy. I've never seen sore losing to that extent.

I recall a write-up about Simon Kean and his assault charges and out of the ring shenanigans.
Glad to see he's advancing in his pro career.

Sounds like a wild night at the fights! Is there an English version of the story, or is google translate going to have to do?
