To be fair, Aldo's head movement wasn't excessive. Holloway fought at an absurd pace that people would be crying about if he did it in UFC 3, like, 27 strikes per minute is insanity, he did about as well as he could given his style.

Re: The strongest punishment to side sway spam
I'd encourage everyone to watch this video i'm about to post. It's a past stream from Dmart15 who is a commentator in ESFL and one of the best fighters on Xbox.
He streamed a fight vs T4H Recognize and the sway spam cheese was simply disgusting. Dmart had no answer for it. He even tried to use the backstep overhand counter that GPD posted at the start of this thread...didn't work.
I've timestamped the fight im referring to so just click on the video and the fight will start right away. Hopefully GPD sees this too, something has to be done.

Now Dmart is one of the best players in the WORLD. He qualified for the ESFL grand prix! and even he had no answer for this ridiculous technique. What is the regular player supposed to do?Lineup:

This thread having 60 pages proves Head movement is one of the biggest problems ever and needs to be nerfed in a serious way,not making it useless but it cant stay like thisComment

Re: The strongest punishment to side sway spam
The ducking uppercut is still a serious problem, unless there is an answer for it that I don't know about and has yet to be revealed to us. I fought a McGregor user who was just looking to land the duck uppercut really fast while kind of mixing it up with leg kicks. But I knew he was looking for the duck upper and with McGregor it's deadly, I couldn't hit him with an uppercut when he did it unless he hit me first, it was super hard to time. I rocked him and hurt him several times, but while I was hitting him with hooks during his health event he just ducked and timed an uppercut to rock me really fast. The rest of the fight was pretty much downhill because no matter what offense I tried he would just time a duck uppercut to rock me over and over again.Comment

Re: The strongest punishment to side sway spam
The most obvious problem I see in the video above is not head movement. It's the inability to create space. That fight is so ugly/boring to watch. Total dice roll too. He has Conor tho so he obviously won. Those kind of fights have been happening since launch.
Please, please, please... Do something about the inability to keep someone off you. I'm really not seeing a way around it other than reducing movement speed while you're blocking. I don't think giving us better footwork would be enough by itself. This really needs attention. The game cannot stay like this. I'm not being overly dramatic. That is hurting the game big time. I understand not everyone fights like that but a good amount do. Just the fact that you can is a huge problem. Doing what's above is actually what I do when all anyone is doing is sitting on the outside spamming head movement (Martial Mind said the same thing).
The fact that he's using head movement before basically every strike is obviously problematic too but I've seen it used worse than that. What sticks out the most is the way they're nose to nose just standing there holding high block. Like that has to stick out to others too, right? This is a high level fight for gods sake. Two of the best players (I'll take your word for it Earv) playing in such a mindless way.Comment

Re: The strongest punishment to side sway spam
Said it in the discord but I think part of the problem is the new tweak where you one strike off a sway does more damage but you can't combo. Now people don't need to combo to hurt someone you can't actually employ the strategy of using your frame advantage to intercept from a block, because everyone only throw one strike.
That and the vulnerability on some of the sways do feel wonky, I get that from a physics perspective it makes more sense they'd have different vulnerability going back to the centre, but the game isn't as responsive enough to let you time it to hit that sweet spot.
I wouldn't mind seeing the current sway strike speed but with the old frame tuning/combo and damage rules to see how the game looked then.Comment

Re: The strongest punishment to side sway spam
If only we could push
I suggested having this be by holding the over/under input.
Also for single collar- holding would result in a pawing jab, like the lead arm extension from rocks in EA UFC 2.
and MT- holding would result in pulling in.
All deniable and counterable.Comment
