    I ****ing love leg kicks.

I'm disappointed that they seem to have no effect, but it's fun just hammering Liddell's leg over and over.

My favorite is the charge leg kick. I back off, and spring towards him and just sweep at his leg. It looks like it hurts quite a bit.

Yeah, the smack that they give when you catch them with their leg planted is very satisfying... I try to work the legs a lot. Like you said, I'm not sure if it's really making a difference.. it would be sweet if they started limping or something if you really concentrated on one leg, but I haven't seen anything beyond turning them bright pink.

The damage system is so very good... at the end of the first, both fighters were just a little red, and then chuck hit me with a huge high kick and Rua's face was swollen and deep red on that side shortly after. I caught Chuck with a flying knee and a little of blood was trickling from his left eyebrow (it was a right-kneed kick). So awesome.

For the most part atleast, he still can get up. But i make it extremely hard for him.
stop practicing so much, so i have a chance LOL!

I've been playing on Advanced as Rua.

My strategy against Chuck is to use plenty of inside leg kicks. This keeps him from unleashing the Superman punches and spinning back fists. I mix a little muai tai clinch. I try to use punch and kick combos.

I think you can tell when you have a fighter in a bad position physically because Rogan and Goldberg get excited and the opponent isn't able to attack as often. At that point, I just go for the gusto. Body kicks and kicks to the head. I generally knock Chuck out or have the ref call the fight when I'm pounding him with fists from on top.

I still haven't been real successful at the ground game, but only because I haven't tried it that much. It is tough to take Chuck down. And when I do get on him, I'm not familiar enough with the controls. I'll have to try some of Phobia's tips that he's listed for us.

I just can't stop playing LOL. What I did was just focus on the ground game over and over and over and over until I started to understand what the controls were doing and what were the visual cues for those controls. As of now I have a firm grasp on it now. Once you understand the way it works you will see to that the ground game is not much difference than the stand up just a different set of controls. Pretty darn solid damn. Highly highly excited about this amazing game.

If you watch those developer videos that Steve_OS posted, the designers say something about using circle motions on the RS stick while you are trying to take an opponent down.

Yeah, when you shoot for a takedown, mashing buttons or rotating the RS will give you a better chance of getting the takedown. It's basically a short struggle right when you engage, and they can either push you off, take you to the ground with them (don't know the name of that position), or you get the takedown and tackle them. Whenever you don't immediately get a takedown, that button-mashing sequence engages and determines what happens from there.

Yea both opponents will be doing this to determine if someone gets the take down or the stuff.

Only way for a 100% positive take down is when the opponent you are shooting on is mid swing OR you do a (right stick down) for a leg kick reversal.

Very good. I'm sure this will help quite a bit on Advanced.

If anyone is interested, I could post some videos of my matches tonight after class. I'll try to show off the ground game mostly, since that's what I'm trying to work on... but I'm sure there will be some insane knockouts and I feebly try to submit Chuck and get swept into a full mount and destroyed.

With Rua I would guess in the 75% range. Really depends what I am going for. If Chuck comes out with the swing for the fences type. I will use the "right stick up" counter to enter into the clinch and then drop down and take Chuck into my guard then throw into rubber guard and then go to the omoplata.

If he is hurt and backing away more, I will wait for him to throw a strong kick or punch and take advantage of the delay for him to recover so I will shoot and get the instant take down.

Some times I will shoot randomly but mainly if I am eating alot of shots and just trying to get out of dodge and even ending with Chuck over me is still better than eating his standup.

But I will guess my take down percentage is pretty good now because I tend to go for the clinch take downs or the shoot take down where the opponent is throwing a kick or punch. Just shooting at a opponent standing there they will sprawl and your take down percentage on chuck will be very low since he has a high take down defense and his strength is really high so he has a very good take down defense.

Heh, it's clear that I have a lot of learning to do...

So you catch him in the clinch with RS up -- how do you drop them down into guard after that? Shogun did to me several times as Chuck, but I couldn't figure out how to do it. "Throw into rubber guard" -- that's LB + major transition, right?

Holy crap this game will break my brain when it comes out with the full roster... so much stuff to remember. At least the mechanics are basically the same, you just have to memorize everyone's special moves... still though, lots of commands. I'm used to NBA 2K9... which is complicated, but not like this.
