    Re: AEW Discussion Thread

As people said before, as long as they don't try competing with WWE, they'll be fine.

Nothing wrong with being #2 when #1 is a billion dollar company.

Be what CFL is to football, or MLS is to soccer. Not at the top, but more than successful, and don't try competing with the top league.

What would make AEW a DVR worthy show would be storylines, hooks, cliffhangers. Leave people wanting more and wanting to see what happens next week.

I know they want to showcase wrestling and emphasize the in ring content, but that'd attract only the real hardcore fans. Need more than just good matches to hook people.

I disagree that if they just try not to compete with WWE, they'll be fine. They all (read Kenny, Bucks, Cody) need to figure out what they the promotion to be in order for it to even succeed. Cody wants it to be WCW, the Bucks want to recreate the Attitude Era, Kenny doesn't give a **** about the storylines as long as he can have his 90 minute 85 star matches with every opponent he faces.

They have a better shot of lasting if they dont just try going up vs WWE because they won't win.

Focus on being the #2 company. Do what you can to show there can be another big wrestling promotion out there, without needing to act like you're trying to beat Raw or SD

          Re: AEW Discussion Thread

WWE is a giant corporate TV product with talent tied down to only working for that one company. The AEW show is basically a weekly indie wrestling showcase on a major network, featuring The Elite.

The part about working talent in and out is pretty telling. They don't need to be like WWE to have a successful wrestling promotion in 2019.

Report from Meltzer says that since Pac has become Dragon Gate's World Champion, he has refused to lose any matches in order to protect his matches against Sabre Jr. & Will Osprey. Which meant Hangman was going to go over on Pac and Pac wasn't going to lose to Hangman, and I agree with that.

If that is truly the case, this worries me that The Elite basically is going to become their own worst enemy if they try to book themselves over everyone. Though since this is Meltzer he probably worked himself into a shoot.... brother.

This is exactly what I warned about a few weeks back. Dusty and Ric couldn’t book and wrestle, Nash couldn’t book and wrestle.

**** on Vince all ya want, but you have to have a final voice who makes the call.

I want to fully believe the Meltzer report that it’s because Neville wouldn’t put Page over, but I can’t. Neville most likely got pulled because of visa issues. And Meltz is just running the gimmicked storyline for AEW. If this report were true it was just validate what most on the internet are thinking that Dave is hiding the fact that he has ties to AEW and their success. That's why he didn't report that AEW was starting up before 1/1/19 at 12:05am, why he never fully reported who AEW was in talks with until the deal was final (Turner and surprisingly Showtime were the 2 networks). And reading through on Twitter it was known by some for a month or longer that Neville was going to be pulled off the card.

Also just to throw this out there as well, Hangman and Neville worked a match overseas tonight that ended in a DQ. So there's another match that can be seen outside of AEW that was scheduled to happen at Double or Nothing.

Pac going full Sasha Banks. But at least she did the job. I'm glad we can all back the talent in these situations.

If this is true it's not the first time PAC has done this. I love the dude, but he seems to not like to lose.

Whether you agree with the decision of him losing or not, this is something AEW can't afford to start happening. And it goes both ways.
