Series Ends 2 Games To 1!!!!!

At home, Orioles beat Rangers to take three-game set, 2-1.

The Orioles beat the Rangers by a fairly narrow 7-4 margin yesterday at Oriole Park. Chris Roberson went 4-for-4 and drove in 2 runs to spur the club to victory. Allowing 5 hits in 6.1 innings, Steve Trachsel was able to pick up his 8th win of the season. George Sherrill closed out the win, picking up his 24th save of the season and cashing in on his 10th consecutive save opportunity.

The Orioles will be without Steve Trachsel, as he's day-to-day after breaking a nail as they head to Toronto for a series with the Blue Jays starting tomorrow.

                  Mets Take Out Top Rival!!!!!

This round of Mets-Phillies rivalry goes to Mets.

On the road last night at Citizens Bank Park, the Mets out-scored the Phillies to take an 8-5 win back to their hotels. Endy Chavez went 2-for-5, belted a home run, and drove in 2 runs to pace the offense.

It was a short outing for Pedro Martinez, who managed to last 5.2 innings, but picked up the win anyway after giving up 5 runs and 6 hits.

The Mets begin a 6-game home stand tonight when they host the Giants. Carlos Delgado will look to build on his 10-game hitting streak.

Overbay continues to destroy O's pitching, Jays win 7-4 at Rogers Center!!!!!

Toronto, ON - Roy Halladay and the Blue Jays came in looking to gain ground in race for the AL Wild Card race against the Orioles tonight at Rogers Center. They accomplished that behind the strong bat of a man who continued to beat up the Orioles pitching staff and a starter just looking to become the ace that the club believed he should be. Lyle Overbay delivered a home run and a double on his way to driving in 3 RBI's on the night. Starter Roy Halladay, who came into the night with a dismal 3-9 record, picked up his 4th win of the season, but not without help from his bullpen. The Jays got on the board early when Kevin Mench delivered a 2-run home run over the right field wall in the 1st inning off of Orioles' starter Garrett Olson. Wit the Jays up 3-1 in the 4th, Ramon Hernandez hit his 10th homer of the year to cut the deficit to one. The Jays would answer back with an RBI single by Inglett in the 4th and Overbay's double in the 6th to make it a 5-2 game. The "Birds" huge opportunity came in the 8th. After a Freddie Bynum home run and a Luke Scott RBI double to cut the deficit to 5-4, the O's loaded the bases with 1 out, but failed to score anymore in the inning when Scott Downs got Melvin Mora to pop out to the shortstop and Ramon Hernandez to ground out to first to end the threat. Overbay then homered to cap his huge night in the 8th and B.J. Ryan closed the door on his former squad in the 9th to earn his 29th save of the season.

[CENTER] Overbay continues to destroy O's pitching, Jays win 7-4 at Rogers Center!!!!!

LOL!!! I can't stand pitching against this team. The whole lineup just crushes my pitching staff, especially Overbay. I've officially named him the Oriole killer. It's amazing how many players on that team that just gets the right hit in the right situation against me. I can't believe Halladay's record with that ERA though. That's just messed up.

                            Astros Snap Losing Streak!!!!!

Astros beat Pirates in Pittsburgh, halt 3-game skid.

The Astros silenced the PNC Park crowd last night, beating the Pirates 6-5 in a nail-biting NL Central contest. Ty Wigginton slugged a home run and drove in 2 runs, going 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the offense. Brian Moehler pitched the first 6.2 innings, allowing 5 runs and 6 hits to pick up the win.

Michael Bourn hopes to add to his 13-game hitting streak as the two teams wrap up the series tonight.

Maple Leaf Muscle!!!!! Jays blank Orioles 7-0!!!!!

Toronto, ON - If the Toronto Blue Jays get the type of pitching that they have displayed the first two games of this series for the rest of the year, there may be some talk of playoff baseball in the lone baseball city north of the states. A.J. Burnett was phenomenal tonight, allowing only 2 hits and 3 base runners total in the Blue Jays 7-0 blanking of the O's. Burnett went 8.0 innings before turning the ball over to Brian Tallet for the last 3 outs to end the game. The Jays big bats came out again tonight against Orioles starter Adam Loewen. Kevin Mench started the scoring in the 2nd with a solo home run to left center field. Later in the 4th, Aaron Hill delivered a 2-run shot of his own to push the Jays lead to 3-0. In the 7th, the game was blown wide open when the Orioles nemesis, Lyle Overbay tripled to the right center field gap to score John McDonald and then Vernon Wells capped the night with a 3-run homer to deep left center. The Orioles fall victim to Toronto for the second straight night and will look to salvage tomorrow's game before heading to Boston for the last series before the All-Star break.
